Random Tid Bits

  1. I spent much of the day last Saturday making roll out sugar cookies. I went to put them in the deep freezer, and dropped the tin. I may of yelled out, "Oh fudge!" only I didn't say "fudge"! At least I yelled that downstairs, when everyone else was upstairs.

  2. I have a really difficult group of students this year in 2 of my classes. I'm hoping it's just this class, and not a generation thing. Please tell me this too shall pass!

-Most of them have no sense of urgency.

-They don't have that inner need to compete.

-Most of them don't come talk to me, or try and get caught up if and when they are gone.

-Many of them can't take criticism. I had one girl tell me that it hurt her feeling to be critiqued. Any field in the arts you have to develop a thick skin. For some reason it was a big deal this week. I tell them what's good, and what's not working. I never bash a piece - and that's it.

  3. Mica's teacher was on the news this week. Her daughter was shot 3 times: Twice in the back, and once in the neck. The 2nd shot she played dead. The shooter killed his ex and his ex's 2 year old daughter, and 3 other people. It just so happens that Mica's teacher's 21 year old daughter is in critical, yet stable condition. I'd like to do something for her, but I don't know what. Christmas time is coming up, so I was going to do something then. Mica told her he is sorry to hear about her daughter.

  4. It really bothers me when a blogger has a giveaway up, it ends, and it's there for a week or 2 before they pick a winner. I'm not referring to any regular bloggers that comment on here.

  5. There's a garden nursery here that has real reindeer. I'm taking my boys there this weekend.

NeoCell Biotin Bursts Review

I recently got NeoCell Biotin Bursts in Brazilian Acai Berry flavor to review.

Having beautiful and radiant skin has never been so delicious and easy.

They deliver high-potency beauty nutrients in a gourmet soft chew.

It comes in a box that has really pretty packaging.

Inside the box is a foil type bag that zips up for extra freashness.

I do with they'd make the bag and box smaller, to not waist packaging space.

There are 30 soft chews in a bag. It is suggested to take 1 chew daily.

Unwrap

The Brazilian Acai Berry flavor tastes wonderful!

Brita the Elf

Last year we started The Elf on the Shelf. I don't do anything too elaborate with her.

I know some people hate this elf. It's extra work on the parent's part, even though he/she is supposed to watch for good or bad behavior - kid's behavior doesn't change for the elf, and other random reasons.

I'll tell you why I like her:
  • She encouraged Isaak to read and write last year. Isaak would write our Elf Brita, and Brita would write him back. If you remember Isaak's never been much of a reader, so I'll take anything that gets him to read and write.

  • She encourages creative thinking.
A few days ago Brita left a a paper train of people. Isaak has been trying to make a paper train ever since that day.
  • The boy's other toys get played with. I use Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle(s) as Brita's side kicks.
They were zip lining across our kitchen.

  • Brita sometimes gets Isaak up in the mornings. At times he jumps out of bed to go find her.
Floating in a boat.

  •  She puts a smile on both boy's faces.
She was hanging with Michelangelo up until this point. Leonardo took Michelangelo's spot. He kissed her.

Poor  Michelangelo was throwing a jealous fit.

  • She gets rid of things that Mom and Dad want gone, but Isaak want's to keep.
Isaak has been getting stickers from school for "good behavior". He leaves these stickers laying everywhere. Michelangelo decided to stick them on Brita. Isaak wasn't too happy about this one.

Pinterest has a lot of ideas. If you find that you're not super creative there's a lot of ideas online.

We have had a few elf hiccups.

Isaak thought the elf was supposed to bring him presents. I said, "Nope, possibly sometimes (like the Kisses), but it's Santa's job is to bring the presents. Brita is just here to watch you, and do funny things." If he doesn't expect presents, than it will be all the more special when she does bring things.

Isaak thought it would be fun to hide the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to see if they really would take part in Brita's antics. It's his own way of testing his faith in her I suppose. I've had trouble finding them twice.

WW: Santa {Linky}

We went to pay Santa a visit at a small local shop. I figured it would be great because there would be no lines.

Isaak (the younger one) had this sour look on his face most all the pictures. I asked Isaak what was wrong? He wouldn't tell me.

Finally I found out Isaak was upset that Santa didn't have a candy cane to give to him.

I did get one decent photo. Mica's a goof in it though.

Mica took photos of Travis and I with Santa. All of the 10 shots were blurry, looking way up at us to make us look tall weird, but we got one decent one.

Peter & the Starcatcher Review

Our whole family like Peter & the Starcatcher! It's playing at The Rose Theater is located 2001 Farnam Street in Omaha, Nebraska.

It's a prequel of Peter Pan. The boys were pretending that they were flying in Neverland.

If you would like to go tickets are $25 main floor and $20 balcony seating.

Call 402-345-4849 or purchase online at rosetheater.org. Discount ticket vouchers are available at all area Hy-Vee stores for $14 each. Reservations are required.

The show is 2 hours with an intermission. During intermission they sell cookies and drinks. It's showing from December 4-27.

We had a bit of a wait because it was their final practice. This is what The Rose Theater looks like in the entry way. Isn't it pretty?

When we walked in the main stage this is what it looked like:

The boys were cracking me up because they said, "It's so smoky!" It was just a fog machine.

The show was both magical feeling and funny. My husband had a bad day at work was laughing so hard during parts of it. He was thanking me for getting out of the house. This show is not only for kids. ;)

They usually start off the show with a sing and dance act from The Rose Brigade. We were there for their final practice, so we missed that this time.

About Peter & the Starcatcher:

It's a wildly theatrical, hilarious and innovative retelling of how a miserable orphan came to be The Boy Who Never Grew Up, Peter And The Starcatcher upends the century-old legend of Peter Pan. Molly Aster, a 13-year-old Starcatcher Apprentice, finds herself in the company of pirates, a giant crocodile, and angry Mollusks as she and three orphan boys (one of whom happens to be unnamed) attempt to return a trunk of precious starstuff to her father. Adventures abound as they’re pursued by a mustachioed pirate captain and his sidekick, Smee. Along the way Molly learns what it means to grow-up and is reunited with her father. The nameless orphan and his friends take up residence on this island where dreams are born and time is never planned – the island where that nameless orphan is christened Peter Pan.

My husband is not a huge fan of Peter Pan, but still liked this show. It really is the Neverland you never knew.

I thought all the actors did a great job! We were cracking up when they got to a part where there were many of the guys were dressed up as mermaids. I think the actors had fun with this part to.

The pirates costumes looked the part. The actors seemed like they had a whole lot of fun playing their rolls. I love when they got to an island that was based around cooking. It was so funny!

They always end with a question and answer time, or kids can take their program up for an autograph. Since it was their last rehearsal, we didn't have this part. It was still a great show! I couldn't tell it was a practice at all. Everything went so smooth! My boys sat through, and loved it. They didn't get done until 10:30. It was a great show!
