Sing, Sing a Song Saturday

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday is all about me discovering something that is different. I don't want to post things that you and I have more than likely heard before. I want to find something different. It could be from another country, someone singing from the streets of NY, and more.

This week Daddy brought a new artist to the table. He started playing some music on his phone, while we were eating. I had never heard of what he was playing before.

The band is called Nero. It's a British electronic music trio composed of members Daniel Stephens, Joe Ray and vocalist Alana Watson.

I don't usually listen to electronic music. To me some of the music gets repetitive, but I do like this band. Alana Watson's voice is pretty cool!

Their song Welcome Reality was rated number one on the British charts in 2012.

Random Tid Bits

  1. I wish that they boy's school would give us a back to school shopping list sooner. We finally got one the tail end of last week. It's nice to have it earlier though. I'm a planner.

The boys don't need backpacks, or lunch boxes. Mica does however need a new thermos. He somehow dropped his straw, while at camp. I like the traditional thermos because they don't leak. Both boys will need pencils, erasers, and that kind of stuff to. I made the mistake of buying supplies early last year, and missed the mark on many of the things. I'll patiently wait.

  2. Have you done any back to school shopping? (If you have kids that age.)

  3. This year Mica will get a teacher that is brand spanking newish to the system. Both 3rd grade teachers started last year. I know they have to start sometime.

Unfortunately I know one didn't handle one of our friend's son's very well last year. He's on the spectrum. I struggled in school, and I hate seeing kids that also struggle in any way be treated poorly. I know Mica will do fine with who ever he gets. It's just that I want him to have a good role model. There is no requesting teachers in this day and age. Even if I could request his teacher, it would be more for me. Like I said Mica will do fine with whoever he gets.

*Update he got the other teacher. The one I preferred. YAY!

  4. Isaak's into saying, "For real!" He uses it in his dialog all the time. He doesn't say, "For pretend!" though.

  5. I like Pinterest, but it's been pissing me off lately! I've been trying to pin, and it isn't happening. Take for instance this post: DIY Sugar Lip Scrubs. I try and pin it and get this:

  6. No images to choose from. After 2 weeks of not being able to pin a darn thing, I thought, wow I probably need to clear my history. That fixed it for a day. Now I'm back to not being able to pin anything without a pin button.

  7. I'm not a girl that cusses much. When I do Mica says, "Don't say, 'heck' Mom! You're going to turn into Grandpa if you do." For the record Grandpa used to be a whole lot worse then he is now. I have a cursing policeman at my house.

Halloween Gone Complicated

One thing is true about my boys: They love to dress up! They've been talking about Halloween for a month now. *Insert eye roll here.

Mica said on vacation, "Mom I know what I want to be for Halloween. I want to be a cowboy."

Never mind the fact that I bought them their favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costumes last year on clearance. *Again insert eye roll here.

I'm sort of for the boys dressing up. They use costumes year round. They just love them.

I was thinking, Well being a cowboy is different. It might be kind of fun. I didn't know that all cowboy boots are more than most kid's costumes. City girl here. I just can't justify spending the money.

These are $49. I guess thinking about it, it doesn't surprise me. Those are some cheaper ones I've seen, and they are on sale. I just don't want to get them for Halloween.

Source

Not to mention that cowboy type shirts add to the bill. At least he'd wear that more than the boots.

Isaak all the sudden decided he wanted to be a Power Ranger. Not just any Power Ranger. He wants to be the white Power Ranger.

Source
All I had ever seen online, and in the stores is the red Power Ranger. One fine day I saw a silver one. It was 1/2 off to. It's close to white. I showed it to Isaak. He said, "That's not the white one." I said, "It's close." He looked at me and said, "Ummm...no thank you." *Again insert eye roll here.

Mica said to Isaak, "I have a great idea. You can be my Batman costume, and I can be Robin. But my Batman costume got broke Mom, so you'll have to fix it." Isaak said, "But we don't have a Batmobile, and we're not old enough to drive." Mica said, "You have a point." Trust me they were serious. *Insert yet another eye roll here.

There you have it I have high maintenance costume boys.

It's bad enough that I have to dress up for work. I liked Halloween when it was simple. I'm thinking they can suck it up, and be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Word Girl

There is something I learned this week that cracks me up: Emerson loves Word Girl.

I don't know if it's the songs, colors, or what he likes about it. It's still cute that he likes it. Isaak liked the show to.

I'm trying to win him a t-shirt off of Heck of a Bunch's site. If I win I'll give it to Emerson for Christmas.

Bring Back the Classics

When we were at the library this weekend I happened to see Parent Trap, and Pollyanna.

I'm not talking about the Lindsay Lohan version of Parent Trap. Not that there's anything wrong with that version. I was in a Hayley Mills mood.

Source
Source
Mica and Isaak got a little taste of the Lindsay Lohan version of Parent Trap during our vacation. They seemed to enjoy it.

I figured they'd like Hayley Mills just the same. They were both excited to watch the movies. Most boys would be like, "This is a girl flick!" I didn't hear any of that.

It's nice that Isaak and Mica get into superhero flicks, The Lego Movie, How to Train Your Dragon, as well as Little House on the Prairie, Pollyanna, Heidi, and Parent Trap.

I was talking to my co-workers about how Pollyanna, Old Yeller, Swiss Family Robinson, and more have never been redone (that I know of) since the 60s, or 70s. Parent Trap and Freaky Friday have both been redone. One coworker said, "It's because the others are not sexy enough."

Do you agree that some of the classics haven't been redone because they simply are not sexy enough?

My boys seemed to enjoy the flicks regardless.

What movies did you like when you were little?

TheraRelief Review

One thing that Daddy struggles with sometimes is neck and back pain. He's actually resorted to a chiropractor at different times in his life.

TheraRelief provides instant pain relief for:
  • Arthristis
  • Lower Back Pain
  • Neck Pain
  • Joint Pain
  • Knee Pain
  • Sciatica - Pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling in the leg. It is caused by injury to or pressure on the sciatic nerve.
  • Chronic Pain

I'm all for trying other things, to avoid doctor and chiropractor fees.

TheraRelief helps fight inflammation in joints and muscles. It has all natural ingredients that are free of dangerous chemicals such as parabens. It includes over 27 deep penetrating clinically proven compounds including Glucosamine and Chondroitin that will help your body heal and recover, rather just mask or cover up the problem.

Ingredients:

Directions:

It's pretty easy to use. You just massage into the problem area once a day, or as needed. With this you may need 1 other person to massage TheraRelief in for you. I don't think Daddy could reach all his sore spots on his back himself. When you are down on your back, or neck you can't turn like you could if felt well.

Our Experience:

We haven't used it long enough to know the true results.

It does NOT have a strong "menthol" smell. It is odorless, does not burn, won't leave you greasy and does not have any known side effects.

I do like knowing that nothing toxic is in the 2 ounce container. So many things like have hidden ingredients in it that are bad for you. TheraRelief does not.

It will help you fight inflammation naturally while soothing joints and muscles affected by arthritis, tendonitis, fibromyalgia, overuse pains and other strains.

I do think it's a little on the pricy side. Origially the price was $34.95, and it's on sale for $19.95. For 2 ounces, I think that's a little pricy. If it makes someone feel better the price is worth it. Often times you'd pay more than that price to go to a doctor, or chiropractor. This stuff will last awhile to. A little goes a long way.

Do you ever have any aches or pains?

NEBRASKA Land & Sky DVD #Giveaway

I'm so excited to bring to share with you Nebraska Land & Sky

Air Times:

It's a 60 minute program airing on Monday, August 11 at 7 pm CT on NET1.

Other air times are: Monday, August 11 at 10 pm CT, and Wednesday, August 13 at 9 pm CT - both on NET1.

I haven't gotten a chance to view the whole thing, but I've seen parts of it. It is so beautiful! Often times we take for granted the place where we live. There's so much to see in Nebraska. We have history here.

About:

A British aerial photography team called Skyworks London joined the NET crew to photograph and video tape Nebraska land. They captured key landmarks, hidden places, nature, history and more.

Skyworks specializes in top-end aerial filming, creating footage and shows for broadcasters all over the world, including National Geographic, PBS and the BBC. NEBRASKA Land & Sky, funded in part by the Nebraska Tourism Commission and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, is a production of NET Television.

From high above the land and down on-the-ground, the documentary traces Nebraska’s history and legacy. Featured stops include Willa Cather’s childhood home in Red Cloud, Nebraska’s majestic and rugged landscapes around Wildcat Hills in the Panhandle and the vibrant cityscapes of eastern Nebraska.  Homage is given to Nebraska’s ranchers and farmers, the state’s culture, recreation and exciting moments in Nebraska sports history.

What I love best about the film is the aerial view seen throughout. You just can't capture things like that on your own.

Take for instance: Carhenge is shown in the video. It's just briefly, but I saw it. I only got to see it from the ground. It's cool watching them fly over it in the video.

My Photo

Part of The Film's Areal View

A lot of people I talked to when I lived in Georgia thought Nebraska was nothing, but cows. While it's true we have cows here, there is a lot more to see.

  • Cowboy Trail
  • Wildcat Hills, Carhenge in Alliance
  • North Platte rail yard
  • Fort Robinson
  • Scottsbluff National Monument
  • Chimney Rock

  • Arbor Lodge in Nebraska City
  • Missouri River

Other sweet photos from the video:

Watching just a part of NEBRASKA Land & Sky makes me want to travel. I love Western Nebraska so much!

Giveaway Time:

I know many of my readers do not live in Nebraska. Viewing the video is a little hard if you don't live here. I also know many of you have shown interest in where I live. I'm going to open this giveaway up to anyone in the US.

Raw Organic Unfiltered Shea Butter Review + #Giveaway

I got something wonderful in the mail last week. If you've never tried shea butter, give it a try.

Beauty By Shea is:
  • Organic
  • Raw
  • Imported and Unrefined Shea Butter From Ghana- Ivory
  • Imported
  • 100% Natural and Pure - Nothing Else is Added
It comes in a 16 once - 1 pound bag. It's $19.99, but on sale for $10.00! It's made with extra care to make sure that any one who buys it gets the purest Raw Shea Butter. Beauty By Shea Butter is filtered not once, but twice for perfection. It's filtered once in Ghana, and then another time at a US Lab where it's manufactured into 1 lb bricks. It's packaged into heat sealed bags, and sent over to Amazon. This preserves the natural richness, and purity for their customers.

It's bagged twice to ensure it's purity. There is a lot in the bag, to last a long time.

I opened it up, and was in love with the natural scent! To me it smelled like coco.

We had a back massage party at our house. Daddy said, "This is better then that massage oil you bought awhile back." It melts into your skin. Everyone loved the special treatment. I also used it on my hair as a conditioner. It left it feeling soft. For both your skin and hair you just need to use a tiny amount. Just like coconut oil Shea Butter hardens when it's cool, and softens when it's warm. Just put the Shea Butter in the palm of your hand, and rub it in to apply it. Start out with just a dime size amount. A little goes a long way!

Storage: Always store the shea butter in a cool, dry place in a sealed container, avoiding direct sunlight or excess heat. Best kept in 75 degrees or cooler.

It's Topical Goodness For Your Skin and Hair!
