Lowes Build and Grow Clinic

  • We went to our first Lowes Build and Grow Clinic this morning. It's for ages 7 and up, but the man that runs it says that he has all ages of kids come in. He also said that you don't actually have to register. They usually have enough kits for everyone. I registered anyhow. It's every Saturday at 10 am.
  • Thanks to Grandpa Spiehs for meeting us there! He helped Isaak, while I helped Mica. Grandpa Spiehs took some hammering against his fingers. Isaak just is too little to have a lot of aim.
  • They got to keep their aprons, goggles, they got a patch and the vase they made for me for Mother's Day. All for free! We might become regulars. Now that I know what it's like, I probably don't need Grandpa's help. But I'll be the one getting my fingers hammered. LOL

  • After we were done with the project's Grandpa shopped around Lowes for a bit. Mica was bouncing off the walls for some reason.
  • We went two places to find two single flowers to put in the vases. No such luck. The grocery store only sold bunches of flowers, and the gas station we went to didn't have flowers at all {I've seen single roses at gas stations before}. Mica was still bouncing all over the place. He was pretty crazy.
  • On the way home I stopped by a middle school track to have the boy's run! Just to run off some energy. Mica ran/walked 1 1/2 laps, Isaak ran/walked 1 lap. Mica can run fast. Isaak's more of a lazy butt. Isaak fussed 1/2 the run/walk. Aunt Terra says that all the time about Isaak, that he's lazy. She takes them to go pick up Cousin Evan at school all the time, and Zeek wants a free ride in the stroller all the time! At least he's starting to run more. Mica's ran since he could run.
  • When we got home Mica crashed. Either I wore them out, or he now has our bug. He didn't even want to eat. Totally unlike Mica.

The Things Isaak Says!

Before I get into what Isaak said, I should tell you about our night:
  • We went to cousin Evan's Ice Cream Social. There we had pizza, water and a cupcake. Ya no veggies tonight. They don't serve what I call "the good stuff" at events like that.
  • Isaak wanted to eat his cupcake before his pizza. I wouldn't let him and he wasn't happy with me. He got over it when he realized that we all had to wait to eat our cupcakes. I was stupid for not asking for white frosting on all our cupcakes! Aunt Terra's boys were all clean looking, and Isaak looked like a Smurf by the time he was done! Mica got white frosting, so he was pretty clean.
  • We played a few games. Then it was time to go home. I wanted to catch some of Daddy's art opening. You can see his work here. The boy's clearly didn't want to leave the Ice Cream Social. Of course not! What little kid would want to leave fun games that their cousin's get to stay and play?
  • We went to walk back to Aunt Terra's where our car was parked. The whole way back I listened to Isaak cry about how he needed to go number 2, how he wanted up, he picked his nose and wanted me to take care of his booger {yuck}! I made him walk {it wasn't too far}. I know I'm a mean Mommy. We got back, went into Terra's house, and he wouldn't even go potty.
That leads into what Isaak said:
  • Isaak's nose was snotty, so I wiped it with some toilet paper.
  • He looked up at me and said, "Gross don't wipe my nose with toilet paper! That's what you wipe my butt with Mommy!"
  • I explained to him that toilet paper can be used for both purposes. He wasn't buying it!
Off to Daddy's show:
  • Ya it never happened. The whole way home Isaak complained of his tummy hurting. Mica was hungry and thirsty. I looked back at them, and thought they looked dirty from playing outside and eating cupcakes.
  • Daddy was totally fine with that. It's not like we haven't seen his work before.

Sick Update

  • Daddy is fine. I've still got a lingering cold or allergies. I think I had both.
  • Uncle Tyson got sick with the same thing we're sick with. It travels.
  • Aunt Terra started it all, so she's the one to blame. ;)

Yesturday I Stayed Home Sick

  • I went into work just long enough to announce to my students what they had to do for the day. The PowerPoints of my lectures were on the server.
  • I went home sick.
  • Daddy had taken the boys to the Henry Doorly Zoo for a field trip with Mica's preschool class.
  • They got home around lunch time, and Daddy looked like a mess. He was sick too.
  • He went to take a hot bath. Then I had kid duty. Lucky for me I had made PBJ sandwiches earlier for their zoo trip. Lunch was easy.
  • Then it was a relaxing movie, while Daddy slept. I feel asleep 1/4 of the way through the movie.
  • Then it was nap time. It took awhile to convince Mica that it was a good idea for him to take a nap.
  • We all slept from 2 to 5. Daddy fell asleep earlier then that. It was some well deserved sleep! I woke up to Mica in my face saying, "Mommy are you going to get up?" Over and over again.
  • Daddy heard him, and took him outside. Mica must of been extremely board! He yelled over the fence, "Somebody needs to come play with me!" That's not really like Mica to be so rude. With two parents under the weather; I think he was really board. It's days like that where I wish Mica was in kindergarten already.

Wordless Wednesday - PBS Kids Inspired

This is Mica's version of Arthur from PBS Kids.
Arthur is at the library. The squares on the sides of Arthur are books on bookshelves. ;)
He gets really frustrated that he draws hands too big. I explained to him that he's only 5 years old. He has plenty of time for practice!
The cartoon Arthur can be found here.

Mica created this image to just be a pretty girl.
I think she looks like Prairie Dawn from Sesame Street.
Maybe it's because she has a pink face.
The puppet Prairie Dawn can be found here.

What is your favorite PBS Kids character?

I like Wyatt from Super Why. The cartoon Wyatt can be found here.
If I went Old School, I'd pick the Yip Yips {Martians} from Sesame Street. I'm so bummed that they aren't on much anymore. They amused me! The Yip Yips {Martians} can be found here.

Birthday Ideas for Mica

I have Isaak knocked out for birthday presents. Now I'm starting to think about Mica's.

Two of a Kind, Working on a Full House has a $50 giftcard giveaway going on right now to HearthSong.

They have a lot of arts and craft ideas, outdoor toys and much more. Mica likes any building/constructing things, so I know he would like this:
