I found the movie Big the other day. It was $7, which is cheaper than taking everyone to the movies. I look for movies that we all can enjoy.
It's been a long time since I had watched it. I remembered one part I would have to screen. We all took a break, and Daddy hit the fast forward button through the scene. It's when Tom Hanks kisses his girlfriend. I think they show a bra strap in that scene. Nothing else is shown, but I have to watch out for the sexy scenes more than the scary parts.
So I thought.
The boys seemed to enjoy movie. Mica in particular got into it. He had a big smile during the piano scene, and loved the huge trampoline they jumped on.
After the movie Isaak cried because he didn't want to go into any room that was dark. It was a terrified cry. Now Isaak has the ability to turn on a cry one minute, and flip that switch to a laugh the next minute. He plays us with emotions; just to get out of doing things. I think Daddy thought he was playing us.
I knew he was genuinely scared. Why is it that I want to laugh when kids are scared? I'm so not the comforting Mom. I have my Dad's humor. My Dad hid under my bed when I was a kid once. Just to scare me. Now I laugh about it. It's a good thing my kids have captain beds!
What was Isaak scared of? Well he saw a face in the kitchen; with glowing eyes. His name was Zoltar. Zoltar only shows up in the movie 3 times. Only 2 times he is shown with glowing eyes.
Daddy thought Isaak saw our old string holder, and envisioned it to be Zoltar's head.
The next morning we asked Isaak if the string holder was Zoltar's head? He said the string holder wasn't Zoltar's head. He just envisioned Zoltar in the darkness.
What scared you when you were a kid?

I had forgotten about that scene. I can see how Zoltar could be scary.
We just watched Big with our girls a few weeks back! The bra scene I remembered but didn't get to quick enough. He actually grabs her boob in it. Glad you got to it in time.
LOL at Zoltar. Sorry he was scared, but it is funny!
OMG I would be scared with that string holder in the kitchen!! Sometimes old dolls or their faces scare me.. I keep thinking that might come alive any moment! ;p
Ai @ Sakura Haruka
That string holder is cool.
Walking past the trees in the park when it was getting dusk made me scared when I was a kid. I always thought someone was going to jump out.
Zoltar would scare me too with those eyes all a glow.
I can see where Zoltar would be scary for the little ones. It's strange what the kids are scared of sometimes. There is this small, and I do mean small, amusement park in northern NH called Storyland that has a big clock that scares my little man half to death. I don't know what it is about it, but he won't even look at it.
i loved that movie... now i want to watch it again :)
