Working...Working...Working

I haven't blogged all week. Any post that has gone up was scheduled.

What have I been doing?

I've been working on a poster for work. I didn't draw the characters. I'm taking watercolor and salt textures, and adding them, color, shading, highlights, and details in the computer.

It was fun the first 2 days. In fact I worked at home, while we watched a movie. Then my boss handed me all the body drawings for all the characters. Now I have to figure out how to do that to. I'll be coloring in the computer for awhile I'm afraid.

Never mind the guide lines on the sides. They are not part of the poster. It's just where the poster is being cropped. I have so many layers that it wouldn't save. I had to merge some layers together. The background will be dark, like a galaxy.

Some of the characters I like, while others I just don't care for. The frog wizard looks nothing like a frog to me. I had to do a lot of work on those eyes! The bird is fun. You can't see it here, but each salt circle has a green stroke around it. It took an insane amount of time.

I still have the girl, the horse, and the background to finish up. Then it's moving on to saving them all separate, and adding their bodies. Oh that would have been easier to have their bodies when I started this project.

If I seem absent this, along with working on my stairwell is more than likely what I'm doing.

What have you been up to?

I like the textures and colour variations.. it's amazing that this was achieved on the computer and not hand-coloured! Is this with Photoshop?

I hand painted swatches, scanned them in, and added them in the computer. I then colorize everything different using the swatches. Yes I'm using Photoshop.

I love the colors. I don't know much about art, but it definitely looks pretty.

I love it! I suck at Photoshop, partly because it seems like too much work for me to learn. You are doing amazing on this project!

You are just like my wife, bringing home things and coloring them. She looks up little animals and such on the web, then using those ideas she draws and colors her own pictures for her class. I always fuss and ask her why she is working at home but she says she likes it.

Your animals are looking good. The Frog Wizard looked good to me. This morning when I went outside at dawn two little toads had gotten into the chicken watering trough and couldn't get out. They were swimming around pathetically. I rescued them, so I am their Frog Wizard!

I wish I could figure out how to do those pictures, textures etc like you do. I have no idea where to start.
