Random Tid Bits

  1. I'm already cringing about next week. I reluctantly agreed to do this thing that is for high school students called Career Explorers. I didn't do it last year, and knew they needed someone, so why not? The lady in charge told me that the night would be split up. I thought it would be me doing my thing, and someone else coming in to do something else. Nope! It's the same as it was a few years back. It's not that awful. I teach about Photoshop, they get turned loose to play with Photoshop on a college student's laptop along side them.

What sucks is that I have conferences for my boys the night before. The night after I have an advisory board meeting at work. Isaak has basketball practice another night. I'll be swamped. I teach 2 of those days. I don't even know when I'll have time to mess with dinner, and lunch prep work. I so wish I could get out of the advisory board meeting! Keep in mind that I've never missed one.

  2. Mica has less homework than Isaak. Is that odd? I talked with one of our friends that was a Paraprofessional at the school last year. He said, "Some teachers have different teaching styles." Travis wants Mica to have more homework. He needs a push with math. He doesn't want Mica to go to middle school next year unprepared.

  3. A few nights ago Isaak accidentally left his homework at school. He freaked out. He was crying for a good 30 minutes. I told him, "Isaak no one is perfect. I've left my laptop for work at home before. Your Dad has left his wallet at home before. No one likes messing up. You're going to have to get over it though." We sent an email off to his teacher, and everything is fine.

  4. Isaak had another drama incident happen at school. I'm beginning to think some boys are just as bad as some girls with drama. This one kid that he was friends with last year all the sudden decided he only needs 2 friends. Apparently Isaak isn't 1 of them. I thought it would roll over - poof be gone, so I didn't do anything about it. This has been going on, since August. The kid keeps telling Isaak, "You're not my friend. I don't need you..." Of course I'm only getting Isaak's side. The kid went up to Travis to tell him that Isaak and him aren't getting along. Travis talked to the teacher about it. His teacher thought it would be best that they not talk for 3 days. Then if all is good...great! If all is still sour...off to the councilor's office they go.

  5. Travis spent hours on this meal. He was all excited to make a Mexican dish. He went to 2 grocery stores to get what he needed. It's homemade Tostadas. It looked looked good. It just tasted ok. It took forever for the boys to eat because it was spicy. Have you ever been excited to try and make something, and it just turned out ok?

Thanks to Pinterest, I find a ton of recipes that look amazing and turn out to be just ok. His dish did look fantastic though!

Sorry you're about to be swamped. I just signed up for a billion volunteer opps for the next two months because Mariah needs 40 hours of community service this year for her National Honors Society and has only completed a whopping 4. Ugh! Since she's not 18, I'll have to accompany her on most of them, and while I like to do good, I don't like it all crammed in a short time frame, especially during the busy holiday season.

That dish does look good. Too bad it just turned out 'ish.' I am sorry to hear about the boys not getting along too. That's always tough, especially if they keep saying it just to be mean. :( I hope you get out of the meeting, or that the week goes by quickly so you can get some rest. :) I am volunteering at Fall Festival this week and I think I have a touch of the flu! Should make things interesting. ;)

I hate when kids are having hard time. Especially when you can't really fix it for them.
That meal looks great. :)
Homework, Broxton doesn't have much... they send it in Friday and he has till Thursday to complete it.
