WW: Great Grandma's Wedding Dress {linky}

We went through my Grandpa's house, and found out that my Grandma had my Great Grandma Britta's wedding dress in a cedar chess for years. She would be the boy's Great Great Grandma. She was an immigrant from Sweden. No one knew about the dress. It is 104 years old. It looks homemade. There are tiny hooks that go all the way down the front of it.

Do you like old things?

Things you find in trucks/chest years after someone has passed. When they were getting the home place ready to sale they found a trunk in a out building. In that truck was quilt pieces that my grandma had pieced together. She had been gone 30+ years and the quilts pieces were all labeled and wrapped well. She left me 3 of them and they are special.

WOW! There's probably an exhibtion on museum that would want it. You should find it a home....No one could wear it, those people were teeny tiny back then. I went to an exhibition on Australian Wedding Fashion over the years and the shoes from 150 years ago looked like they would fit a child. It was crazy!

What a great find after all these years. Have you thought about having it encased in a frame or seeing if it hold history that the state where you live would be interested in share something so old?

Thank you for hosting, have a great week!

Everyone - The dress will be my Mom and Aunts as of right now. I was just asked to take photos of it. No worries though. I got some other things that are important to take care of. Along with my sisters and cousins. :) I'll bring up a museum to them this weekend.

How wonderful to have the family heirloom. It's definitely something special to treasure. I know a lot of people said museum, but I think it's more important to be with family. That's just me though. :)
