This post is all about me discovering something that is different. I don't want to post things that you and I have more than likely heard before. I want to find something different. I'll cover something sing | songy one week, and artsy | fartsy the next.
I ran into a really cool video! The artist is someone I've never heard of. His name is Medi. He is a French singer, songwriter, guitar player, and drummer. He basically does it all when it comes to music. He is a true talent in today’s industry.
Some people know of him as being the drummer for Charlie Winston’s band, but he's now making a name for himself as a solo artist across the world.
Born and raised in France, Medi spent some time in London where he learned to speak English remarkably well.
I love the typography that pops up in the video below.

I happened on this next band by accident. I was looking up music for my Color and Design Theory Class. They do an exercise when I give them a kind of music style or dance move. Then they have an hour to do a small piece reflecting that with line. For some students it's too open ended, while others really enjoy it. Usually I'm much more specific in what I want with full blown assignments. Examples might be to use soft swirly lines to depict ballet, or hard, sharp and repetitive lines for rap. I was looking up examples for Indie music.
I really like this company called Spurifyourself. They have a groups of music that fits well together. They are based in Montreal. I really like listening to it because it has variety, but similar enough songs. I'll be listening to to music on this site more!
One artist that I found is: José Gonzalèz. He is a Swedish indie folk singer-songwriter and guitarist.
His newest album is his first in seven years was produced by González in his home as well in Sweden.
It consists of years’ worth of musical sketches that in other hands
might naturally sprawl wildly in sound and style, but on Vestiges &
Claws González has created a collection of songs that cohere just about
perfectly, ensuring his position as one of the most important artists of
his generation.

This week I'm covering something songy. Ane Brun has a very big following on YouTube. I had never heard of her. Ane Brunvoll is the daughter of lawyer Knut Anker Brunvoll and
jazz singer and pianist Inger Johanne Brunvoll. She grew up
in a musical family.
Ane Brun is a Norwegian international songwriter, guitarist, and
vocalist. Since 2003 she has recorded eight albums, six of which are
studio albums and one live DVD. She writes, records, and runs her own label (Balloon Ranger Recordings).

could be from another country, someone singing from the streets of NY,
and more.
This week I'm posting a band that Spotify thought I'd like. The first band that they recommended for me I thought was just ok. The next band sparked something. It's called Whitley.
Whitley was born in Melbourne, Australia. He blends organic acoustic sounds with electronic
overtones creating songs with a story.
He used to be in punk bands. He had a realization and was converted to
the “songs that made sense” and started listening to traditional
country and folk music.
