4WD Climber #diy #car

I like sets where kids, tweens and teens put everything together themselves!

Recently Isaak got a 4WD Climber by Mefashion.

Delima:

I love to hang on to kits like this for Christmas, Birthdays and Easter. I don't like to give the boys toys all year round. Then they expect it. Of course he had to put it together for the review.

Postitive:

Isaak needs to work on his skills of putting kits together. Summer break is a great time to do that.

Ages:

It's for ages 6 and up. I think a 6 year old could play with it, but I don't think anyone under the age of 10 could put it together. Isaak's 12, and he needed help a lot. I do think Mica would have been able to build this easier. Mica's more like Travis - a take it apart, and put it together person. Isaak's more like me - a creative builder, but not good with step-by-step instructions.

Pieces:

This is what it looked like once all the pieces were out of the box. A few additional tools were needed, but they were standard. He also needed a battery.

Instructions:

They did have instructions in the box. Many were unclear, some Travis was like, "What do they mean?" I think the instructions could have been a lot better. Someone from China tried to translate them to English. It just didn't work out, where they are understandable.

Put it Together:

Isaak had to have help off and on. If the instructions were better, maybe he would have had an easier time.

Left Overs:

They didn't have a lot of left over trash.

End Result:

I have to admit when I get something like this to review I'm nervous it's not going to work. Then what? It worked! Yay! Isaak wishes it was faster. He thought he could put it on high gear, but there isn't anything like that. It runs as it's supposed to.

Cost:

You can get it on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QF2JLFK for $18.99. The same brand has an orange model marked from $28 down to $9.99, but it's not on Prime like the one I reviewed. There's a $5.99 shipping cost added to the orange model. I do feel a little jipped when I see that companies mark down the price a lot for consumers, when I spent some of my own money to buy it for reviewing.

Do you like do it yourself kits?

Disclaimer: I got this product at a discounted price to help with this review. All words in the review are written by me. They are my opinions.

WW: Agate Bay {Linky}

When we went to Minnesota we stayed in the Twin City area for 2 days, then went to Duluth and passed it for another 2 days.

One of our very cool spots was Agate Bay in North Shore

We don't have big ships going through Omaha, Nebraska, so I was a bit obsessed with this one. I haven't seen a big ship, since 2000. Then I lived briefly in Savannah, Georgia.

I was waiting for it to get to its proper place. That must be hard to navigate!

Agate Bay area is so pretty!

Here's Isaak enjoying the view!

Lots of rocks to see!

I love when land spills into the water!

Agate Bay Lighthouse:

I have never seen a lighthouse before this trip. We didn't go up into one here. We did later on.

It kept spitting rain that day. I was trying to capture the lighthouse without people near it.

Some people live near the water. Intermixed with the trees are houses.

We walked along a trail to a different spot. It's where the land spilled out into the water.

The only photos I get of me is selfies. The rest of my family hardly takes photos.

I could stay here all day! Similar photos, but I like different things about them. The sky is pretty in one, while the rocks are pretty in the other.

Closer up!

 Lonely trees:

 The only critter we saw:

I made my husband drive to a extra spot to get a shot of this tug boat. Another thing I haven't seen, since 2000. I had to shoot it through a fence. It was worth it.

Do you live near water? I live mostly by grass, trees and corn. One thing is cool about much of Nebraska: You can see for miles in the country. There are very many big trees blocking your view.

The Anchor Fish and Chips @the_anchor_mpls #food #minneapolis #travel

I do like good food, but I'm fairly open to where we go. My only request for Travis when he asked me, "Where do you want to go to eat?" was, "Somewhere Omaha doesn't have."

An art district was close to Walker Art Center. Travis knew someone that went to school there, so he asked him where a good place to eat was. His response was, "The Anchor Fish and Chips".

It was Father's Day, the only meal we were going out for that day, something other than fast food and a great choice.

The Anchor Fish and Chips was so good!

Hours:

Because they are closed on Monday, I thought I should in fact bring up their hours. Thank goodness it was a Sunday. I think I would have cried if it was a day they were only open 4-11. I get HANGRY when I'm hungry.

All menu items included tax. They were super environmental friendly. A little girl wanted a straw, so they brought her a metal reusable straw. They have organic and cage-free chickens that they get their eggs from.

What We Ordered:

The boys ordered burgers. How predictable.

Travis ordered their Fish and Chips.

I had no idea what to order, but decided to try something I've never heard of: Poitín Poutine.

Best tasting curds and gravy I've ever had! It was so tasty! I'm glad we decided to go there. It wouldn't be a place I'd even think to go to. What would you have ordered?

Photobucket Problem

On Friday night the images I plugged into Photobucket many moons ago started plastering Photobucket icons on them - all over my site. So annoying, since I have a lot of posts I'm excited to share with you. I did put in a message to Photobucket to see if I can get this fixed - an easy way. They aren't open until Monday. Oh joy! I actually have the image buried in the html coding. It was a long time ago I set that up. I'm going to wait it out to see if they'll be able to do anything on their end before I start messing with things.

*Update: I just went in, and fixed it. Forget Photobucket. I got this!

Random Tid Bits

  1. Before our trip we couldn't get Isaak to stop watching this street artist. He loves anything with demos.

  2. We always talk when we eat breakfast in the morning. One morning Mica was saying that people with pitch black skin are beautiful. I said, "I think it would cool to get a photo of them standing next to someone that's an albino." I think that's already been done, but still cool.

Isaak had no clue what the word "Albino" is. Now when he doesn't know what a word means, which there are a lot of words we tell him the spelling, make him look it up, and use it in a sentence. His sentence that day, "Albinos are weird looking people with no pigment in their skin." We had a talk about how people with Albinism are not weird looking people. Kids are born knowing everything though. They have to be educated. To me people with Albinism are fascinating!

  3. The urban word that is banned in the Apel household is: WENIS. It's the skin on someone's elbow.

When we were out and about Mica would say, "Mom nice wenis!", "Mom I love to play with your wenis!", and "Wow what a big wenis you have!" He knew exactly what it sounded like, and said these things loud, so strangers could hear. Serves me right. I know where he gets that type of humor. It's from my father and myself. I laughed the first few times, then had enough. The urban word is now banned.

  4. When Mica was sleeping on the love seat I wanted to say, "Mica your wenis is sticking up!"

    Humm...

  5. It's been a long time, since I've read an actual book. I mean I read online all the time. I read parts of books for classes, but not an actual book. Over our vacation I read a 600 page book. How impressive is that? Do you read books?

  6. A student I had posted a picture of someone that attached and sexually assaulted her. She can't do much because it's passed the statue of limitations, but a few of her friends were attached and sexually assaulted by the same guy. That's why she posted. She wants people to come forward. She herself wasn't actually penetrated by him, so that's why she didn't turn it in to the cops.

Anyhow he's in the same industry I'm training my students to go in. He's worked on big projects here, in fact there's a painting of him on a brick building in north Omaha. He's won a lot of awards. He's friends with political figures here. I was reading his twitter feed. His twitter handle is @iCreateGreat. A cocky, big wig that lures young women models to take photos of them. Then he expects sexual favors back. It sickens me. I hate that some of my friends are friends with him.
