Where to Begin?

I have so much to blog about that I don't know if I should blog about today, or last week?

I'll start with last week. Maybe next week we'll get to Easter. I'm only kidding perhaps.
 
Last week the boys had a science night at school. It's been awhile, since we've had a school event. 

They had booths of stuff that kids could pick out for the Science Fair. Mica decided he want's to do something with magnets, and Isaak wants to do something with dancing raisins. We still have to work on that. It's for the end of the month. At the school it's optional for kids to participate in the Science Fair if they are below 4th grade. Our kid have always participated. Some of it is over their heads though. They don't get why they have to say why this or that happened.
 
Our local children's museum came to show how germs work. Isaak raises his hand to be a volunteer every time. He usually never gets picked, but did this time.

He even got a germ hat for volunteering. I thought just volunteers got one, but she handed everyone a germy had when they were done.

It was really late when we got done, so we went out for a bite to eat. 

This is crazy- 

We don't go out to eat often. For some odd reason whenever we do something really bad in the world has happened, and it's on the TV to watch. There's always a sign that says, "Please don't touch the TV." When the Boston Bombing happened we begged a place to change the channel. The trouble was is that they had to have it on a news, or sports station. It was all over both. There were 2 TVs in the place, so there was no getting away from it.

That day happened to be the day a co-pilot ran a plane into the ground.

I'm not all about covering up things for my kids, but let's face it the world sucks sometimes. If I can't make sense of something kids can't process it very well either.

We ate, and went on our merry little way. 

While I sat there I said, "Wow I'm just having trouble looking at that bench, while I'm eating." Travis looked at it, and said, "Oh..."

Do you see what I saw?

The whole bench is just wrong for a place to eat. Phallic symbols all over it repeating.

I actually plan to use this mug for lemonade, and or cold tea in the summer time.

1. Pour 2.5 ounces of bourbon into a shaker. 
2. Muddle in 3 blackberries. 
3. Add ice and shake. 
4. Pour into copper mug. 
5. Fill with 5 ounces of Ginger Beer. 
6. Drizzle with Honey throughout the ice.
7. Garnish with a blackberry, or in my case I garnished with a strawberry.

Care:

The mug is easy to care for. You just wash it in soap and water, rinse and dry. An additional CARE card is included in the box with the recipe cards.

My kids love reviewing games. Laser Maze Jr. is a 1 person game by Think Fun. This is a game that will build science and logic skills. I love as a mom that this game makes kids think!

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday is all about me discovering something that is different. I don't want to post things that you and I have more than likely heard before. I want to find something different. It could be from another country, someone singing from the streets of NY, and more.

Do you ever listen to songs that bring tears to your eyes? This cover of Stairway to Heaven by Heart did just that. Only not just to me, it brought tears to Robert Plant to!

I know Heart is anything, but new. They did take a long break, and came back. Let me tell you, while some people loose the capacity to sing, they still have it!

Ann never took any formal music lessons as a child (she later learned to play several instruments), Nancy took up guitar and flute. After both sisters spent some time at college, they decided to try their hand as professional musicians, and while Nancy began performing as a folksinger, Ann joined the all-male vocal group Heart.

Johnny Appleseed

Isaak read to me last night. He is getting better about reading. Maybe reading just wasn't in the cards at age 6. He was much more into math.

He picked out a book about Johnny Appleseed. I can't find the exact book anywhere online, so I'm going with this one:

He kept calling him Joanie. I kept correcting him. Finally I told him, "Isaak Joanie is a girl's name, and Johnny is a boy's name." Then he called him the wrong name just to mess with me. 

As I said that I thought in my head, Names are not really like that anymore. Girls can be named boy's names and it's socially acceptable. Oh well.

We got to a page where Johnny visited a Native American territory to give them apple seeds, and seedlings to plant. Isaak said, "Mom I didn't realize Joanie traveled all the way to India!" *Face palm!

I said, "Johnny didn't travel to India. He's in the US."

Isaak looked confused and said, "Oh." I know he's heard of Native American's called Indians from Little House on the Prairie. That must be where the confusion is coming from.

As a kid they always were Indians. We sat Indian style. Now it's Native Americans and criss cross applesauce.

I had a slight chuckle over it. Kids just kind of say what's on their little minds.
