Oh Toys R Us!

Toys R Us is starting to annoy me. They put out a holiday gift guide last weekend.

Mica spotted their K'Nex Yellow Submarine Building Set on their site.

I buy when I know my kids will play with a toy. This toy wouldn't even be for Christmas. It would be stashed away for a birthday, or Easter. They have a deal to buy one, get one 1/2 off. I'm all about saving when I see a deal. They have none available online to purchase. Then I called the store to see if they had any, nope. They said, "It doesn't look promising that any store has one."

With the technology we have today, they should be able to tell what is selling, and have back stock. If it's advertised, than they should have it. Otherwise don't advertise it! I get if I waited until the end of the week to buy because it's Christmas time, but I looked at the beginning. Right after the ad came out!

What if that was the gift my kids wanted for Christmas? Their dream toy wouldn't be purchased for sure.

Are those top characters Blue Meanies?

My daughter was a great collector of Briar Horses. They cost a bundle, and some of the horses were hard to find. I once called a Toys R Us in Chattanooga, and they had one that my daughter desperately wanted. I paid for it by credit card, and we drove all the way to Chattanooga. But when we got there, they had sold it to someone else. They said they "meant" to hold it for me but "got busy." That was 15 years or so ago and I still get angry when I think about it. We stayed the night though, at the Choo Choo, and my kids had so much fun at the indoor pool and the big breakfast buffet that it worked out ok in the end.

How annoying....It happened to us once while we were in GE..we called the store to ask the lego collection Bo wanted to have, they said they had it and would keep one for us, but once you're in store it's gone! Getting angry didn't get us the toys so we just simply stopped shopping there..

That is so frustrating. I've had that happen to me, too. You're right - this day in age they should be able to get their hands on one if they are offering it as sale item in their catalog.

Yes they do need to do a better job of anticipating the demand for such an item - they pay these marketing people big bucks - you'd think they could figure it out :)

My beef this season is luggage. Sears has a luggage set (the gift my MIL wants) for a great price. I tried to order it...cannot ship and there are not at the local store. Tried another, same thing. Tried another, same thing. I gave up and got it somewhere else. :/
