Pityriasis Rosea

Like I've said before my kids, especially Mica gets mysterious spots on him. I'm pretty sure he gets this from me. I used to get hives on my face at random times. The sensitive skin must come from me.

Isaak's had Roseola, and some baby eczema.

Mica's had baby eczema, a staph infection in his neck - we're thinking he got that from an ear infection on the same side, Ring Worm - we're thinking he got that from the mats at the Y, and now Pityriasis Rosea - we're assuming he got Pityriasis Rosea from mud fights at camp. He came home with spots all over where his clothes were on his skin.

The good things: It's not viral, or bacterial. It's just a skin sensitivity from something. Often times laundry detergent, or diapers can cause this. I haven't used different laundry soap. There is no fever, or itching from this type of rash.

The bad things: It can last from 6 to 8 weeks. The spots can blister. I'll have to get a swimming shirt, so we don't get crazy stares our way.

I was in a slight panic mom mode for a little while when I first saw all these spots on my poor, tired, dirty son. I didn't know what the spots were. The doctor's office was closed. They do have an ask a nurse line, which I called, but waited for 20 minutes, and gave up. When I finally did get a hold of their office they said I could just email them pictures.

His Back

His Belly

I'm thankful that my boys have never broken any bones. I wish they'd stop having skin issues. Mica's signed up for another week of this camp. I can just see this getting worse. *Insert eye roll.

One of my ex-girlfriends had pityriasis rosea once and it cleared up quickly with a visit to the dermatologist.

Poor Mica! Sensitive skin is not fun (I have it, too), but there are worse things he could have! Thankfully it doesn't bother him too much.

Oh my that looks really painful. I hope he feels better soon.

Allison breaks out in little red bumps like that from time to time too. Usually on her back as well. It tends to last for a few days, then it goes away on its own.

It'll probably go away shortly. He must have gotten into something up there at camp.

Skin rashes and problems are so annoying. It is good if you are getting a diagnosis though. I have skin problems that never get a diagnosis unfortunately.

Marc said it looked like red bugs to him... and that it normally took 3 days to get them dried out and gone.. that was with me not doing anything but showing him a picture and said he was at camp

I used to break out in a rash like that from being in the high grass or weeds. Not sure why but it went away and I never got it again.
