I Sometimes Think I Shouldn't Watch the News

I know it's good to be informed. I try to make an appoint to know what's going on around me. I'm not always the best with world news, but generally know what's going on in the US.

I do have to admit that I go through news watching stages. There are times where I'm just like, What the heck? and stop watching news all together.

There were 3 hot cases going on in Omaha last week.

1. A Mountain Lion was in a populated area. It's leg was hurt, and authorities shot it 8 times. Many felt like it should have been shot with a tranquil gun, treated by our zoo, and then released. I personally didn't feel too attached to this case. Sure I feel bad for the wild cat, as we have moved into their space. On the flip side people were around, and its leg was hurt.

2. The next one was walking distance from my house. (I'm not even exaggerating) Someone broke into a house, and was attempting to rob them. They wouldn't leave. It was some kind of domestic abuse situation. Only there's way more to that story then the news released. Just about every cop was on the scene. 2 different streets were blocked off.

3. The worst story that has made national news was this little 11 month boy that was left in a dumpster. That's just the beginning of the story. :(

Someone was cleaning their car, heard a noise in the dumpster, and found this boy. He was alive, and only had a few marks on him.

Many assumed the Mom and/or Dad didn't want him, and threw him in there.

The next day they found the Mom's body dead - stabbed. :(

An Amber Alert went out for his missing 5 year old bother.

They found the vehicle that was included in the Amber Alert, empty, so they canceled the Amber Alert. Still the 5 year old was missing. :(

The next day the 25 year old son of the mother, older brother to the boys confessed to killing his mom, dumping his alive brother's body in the dumpster, and dumping his 5 year old brother's body in a river. I'm not sure if he was alive or dead when he was tossed into the river.

The next day the oldest son's girlfriend was arrested as an accomplice to the murders. She admitted she hated the Mother.

The Mother was attacked prior to her death. Her previous home was burnt down. She was staying with her sister. There someone was trying to get into their house many times over again. Each case was reported.

The next day the Dad that was in jail due to the fact that he's an illegal alien was released to be with his family. Usually I'm not for illegal aliens coming to the US because they are not vaccinated. I'm not for people in the US not vaccinating their children either. Especially if they are traveling in and out of the country. In this case I felt this 11 month old needed his Dad.

Today they found a 5 year old in the Elkhorn River. They think it's the little boy pictured above. :(

I keep trying to figure out why the oldest son and his girlfriend would do this. Many people dislike their parents, but to kill them, and kill their siblings is a different story. Were they involved in drugs? or Where they just insane?

Certainly a crazy case to happen just before Mother's Day weekend. It's all I could think about.

That story about the mom and her young son getting killed is awful! Thank goodness they caught the suspects. I think hearing that story on the news would keep me up at night.

I really can't believe the horrible things people can do. It is scary to think there are people like this in the world. I just want to think there are plenty more decent people out there.

I really hate the news sometimes. When my heart can't take it anymore, I have to walk away for a few days. There's just so much sad going on in the world.

What a horrible story.....I heard a story that bothered me so much (I can't remember what it was now) about a year ago and stopped watching the news all together. I am always clueless about what's going on, but I don't care. I would rather be out of the loop than hear about all the horrible things people do these days.

Sometimes the news stories hit home for me too, even if I don't know the people involved. That last case was really sad. :(

When Marc was deployed, I would not watch the news... because I was scared to do so. Then, he came home and I would only watch at times... usually when he said there was something I should see... Now, I don't watch because it makes me all so sad and mad and since I am pregnant, it makes it even more so .
I just let my dad or my husband fill me in on whats going on... as for that last story - HEARTBREAKING!

I don't watch the news very often and it's because of the devastation that airs. That's so sad about the mother and kids. Why would anyone ever do something like that!
