Together and Apart

Has anyone become a recluse with this pandemic?

The idea of going out of the house makes me shutter. I’ve even been vaccinated. I can still be a carrier to my kids, that haven’t been vaccinated. Isaak going to school is much more of a risk than me going out, with a mask on, and a good hand washing when I get home.

My husband has been on me about leaving more. I even went to work to donate some envelopes, and set up parking - it seemed like a big step to leave the house to do that.

Last weekend we went hiking. A simple thing, low contraction rate, but it seemed like such a big task in my mind. Travis was all about getting me to leave the house. When we hiked he was also all about leaving the trail. Being at one with nature is ok, but I don’t need to break an ankle in doing so. I don’t know when I got to be such a wimp. I just am not a fan of heights. Apparently I’m now a recluse.

Has this pandemic turned you into a home body?

There are so many people that are still scared to leave their homes, so you aren’t alone. That part has not changed with me.... I still went to work through the whole deal ... healthcare jobs didn’t slow down. That meant my kids were in daycare / school. As everything shut down , it put a limit in what we could /could not do... but as everything opens back up... we are there to enjoy. God says “do not fear” so we have chosen Faith over Fear. Just being careful :)
Hope you can slowly get out and about again soon.

Everyone in my family and friend circle (minus Allison) has been vaccinated, so we are getting out and visiting more these days. Jason and I have been doing a lot of outdoor things ever since the pandemic (things where it's easy to stay at a safe distance from other humans) like hiking, kayaking, etc. I think the pandemic has made me realize that I am not made to be a complete homebody. I like the outdoors. I like small gatherings with my people. I don't think I could do the whole recluse thing and keep my sanity.

I have always been a bit of a home body, so it's not been so hard for me. Of course, I live in Florida and people were so reckless here. I was in Ohio when this started (my mom needed us) and everyone was so strict and doing so good with restrictions. Then I came back to Florida and not much was different. It was alarming. It's still alarming how careless people are here. I don't get it. I wear my mask everywhere and limit my outings/social scenes still.
