A Trip to the Hardware Store

One thing that is true about me is that I'm a big kid at heart. I told my extended family about Mica dancing in front of the cameras at stores. One of them said, "Let me guess you didn't get after him? He should be told store manners. That's not something he should be doing." Blah, Blah, Blah.

Yes I did have a talk with him, but no I didn't think it was a big deal. It's not like he was screaming or crying in a store. I just feel like kids are only young once. We force them to grow up way to fast these days.

This weekend we Saved Big Money at Menards. Daddy and I split up because we both wanted different things.

I went to meet back up with them, and I walked into Isaak with a rain gutter on his arm:

My first thought was, Oh that one family member would not approve. Then when Daddy got a cell phone call I was thinking it was great that Mica and Isaak were keeping each other entertained in a way that really wasn't hurting anyone else. Let them be who they are, which is kids. As long as they weren't hurting anyone, or anything, so be it.

Mica looked like Popeye, and Isaak looked like he had a funky cast on. I'm pretty sure that's not the look Isaak was going for, but that's what he looked like.

Who said hardware stores can't be fun for kids?

Grumpy

For some reason we've been grumpy lately. The boys and I just can't get over this sickness entirely. Isaak's still a snot bucket, Mica has a cough and I'm just stuffy.

On Friday I got a fever. I felt like I was in a daze.

Yesterday I was feeling a bit better, so we went on mini errands. It's the only time of the week I can go on errands. So we went. It seems like little stores such as the battery store the boys act up in more than bigger stores like Costco. I don't know if it has anything to do with the amount of people in them (stimulus), or the fact that Costco has samples to keep them occupied? They just seem crazy in little stores.

I was getting a battery replaced in my car key and the boys found the flashlights on the front counter. All the sudden it was like a game of laser tag in there. They are not usually like that. They haven't been for a long time anyhow! I thought we were over this bad store behavior business!

Another thing, if I grab Isaak at all, anywhere he starts crying, "You hurt my arm!" He had Nursemaid's Elbow awhile back. Now he uses that as an excuse.

Today I went to Walgreens for 2 things. I talked to them about good store behavior before we went in. Isaak was an animal. It's like a light switch went on inside him to act crazy! I kept holding his face, looking him in the eyes and saying, "This is not good store behavior. You need to use your inside voice, calm down and check yourself!" Then Mica was acting out. I just wanted to go back to one of the first commercials I remember and say, "Calgon take me away!"

We went home and Isaak had to lay in bed to think about his poor behavior. Mica lost his snack (Easter candy). Then I heard Mica complain that it's not fair that he didn't get his candy. He thought Isaak was the culprit. I didn't want to hear him go on at all. I said, "If I hear you complain once more you are going to your bed and read." That's where he is.

Mica's supposed to have a play date at 2. If it wasn't such a struggle to arrange his play date, I would totally cancel it.

Christmas in April?

Yep, I'm one of those that buys year round. I have 3 nieces and nephews that have birthdays right around Christmas. It gets pretty expensive during that time of year.

I got Mica this shirt from Tea for 1/2 off. That's not for Christmas. I thought it was pretty cute. He loves dressing up like a cowboy. Then Isaak can wear it soon after.

Then I got four of these reusable Marvel sandwich bags below. Again they were 1/2 off!

The bags are for 2 in one order. I thought they would be fun to put on top of gifts for Mica, Isaak, Cousins Evan and Elijah's packages!

I got comments about Mica's lunches. One of Mica's friend's Mom works in the cafeteria at school. She loves what I pack up for Mica and loves the containers things are in. I think she was referring to the reusable sandwich bags. He always has a bag of veggies and fresh fruit.

Both the items above were purchased at: Zulily. Copy and paste this link: http://www.zulily.com/invite/aapel915 to buy something.

I love their discounted items that pop up in my email. They mark stuff down. Many times the items are 1/2 off. They have stuff for girls, boys, toys, books, activities, the home and women. The list goes on. I've gotten so many gifts from there.

Yesterday I Lied to My Children

We went to the grocery store. They had many samples because it was Saturday. I told my children that I didn't think that they give away cookies because it was sample day.

In truth I really didn't want them to spoil their lunch.

The question I have for you is: Do you lie to your children?

I do for things like the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy and my latest lie about the cookies. Then I joke with them about their snack being mine. They know I'm joking of course.
