WW: Kiss Curl and Stripe {Linky}

We took my parents out to dinner last Friday. Isaak leaned into me and said, "Grandpa looks like Superman! He has a kiss curl on his head."

Sure enough Grandpa had a kiss curl happening on his bald spot. I nearly choked on my dinner I was laughing so hard.

On more of a serious note Mr. Mica man got his next yellow stripe in jiu-jitsu. In jiu-jitsu they get a lot of stripes before colored belts. One more stripe and Mica will have his yellow belt. He was happy!

He's all serious. Mica's showing you the stripes he's tested for, and has.

Superman

Mica's wanted a Superman outfit since last year. When he was in reading Isaak a bedtime story the other night, I sneaked into his room and put a Superman costume in his locker with some of his other dress up clothes. *Yes he's 8, and he still loves to dress up.

I didn't think he'd see it right away. I thought it would just sit there for awhile. As soon as he went into his room he saw it.

He said, "Thank you so much for the Superman outfit Mom!"

Isaak said, "You are welcome. I helped pick it out."

The funny thing is, is Isaak didn't help pick it out. I got it on Amazon. It's alright I want Mica to appreciate Isaak more, so I let it go.

The morning after breakfast Mica put on his Superman outfit.

Such a serious face! Superman doesn't smile, he's too manly for that!

Mica kept thanking me and his brother. Isaak kept saying, "You're welcome." Daddy and I looked at each other with a smile on our faces.

I finally got a smile out of Superman.

Mica's too skinny for the costume, but the length is perfecto. He loves having muscles.

He Wants Glasses

One of my friends posted today that her daughter wants glasses. She actually cried when her pediatrician said she didn't need any.

Mica told me this weekend that he wanted glasses. I just forgot about it; until I read about my friend's daughter.

Why does Mica want glasses?

Because he wants to look like Clark Kent.

He also keeps running down the hallway to and from his room. Then pretends to open his shirt up. In fact lately he's been wearing a button down shirt over a t-shirt. All so he can open it up like Superman does.

He told me that Superman III is his favorite movie right now.

Once Upon a Time...

I made a chocolate cake in two round pans. Then I made 1/2 a batch of red velvet cake in a square pan. I was planning on having the two circle cakes as a base for the superman logo; cut out of the square cake.

This is where disaster struck! The red velvet cake crumbled to pieces when I tried to get it out of the pan! I was mad! A cuss word or two may have come out of my mouth. By the way I really do not cuss very often! Daddy told me to cool down! I vow every year that I'm going to stick to cookies! It seems like once a year this happens!

Here's my process: I spray the pan first, sprinkle it lightly with flour before pouring the batter in. The cake is fully done; toothpick comes out clean! Then it's really cool before I decide to pop it out! I even help the edges with a spatula. What am I doing wrong?

I decided to wrap up everything {even the crumbled pieces} and go to bed. In the morning I had a brilliant idea. Why not use the crumbled up velvet cake? One of my worst pet peeves is discarding something that is perfectly edible! I crumbled the cake up even more, added frosting to the cake, and sandwiched the two chocolate cakes together with it. Then instead of using tons of red food coloring for the logo, we used red velvet cake/frosting mixture. Daddy helped me.

Then I got a call that Grandma Spiehs was sick. The party was postponed anyhow. HA! Mica's superman cake is in our freezer for Friday.

The end; I should say to be continued.
