The holidays bring frustration in our home with cords. We actually had to go out to buy yet another power strip because we couldn't find ours from the year before. Do you have this same problem?

Duck

This is why our boys are not involved in ball sports, they duck whenever a ball comes their way.
The other night we went to Family Fitness at the Y. They were playing kick ball. Kids as young as one were playing. Mica was in out field. I told him what to do.
I looked over and he's sitting on the ground with his hands over his head. I said, "What are you doing?" He said, "Mom I know you told me what to do, but I'm not stupid! I don't want to catch that ball that coming at me. I'll get hurt!" I said, "Whatever Mica. It's supposed to be fun."

Random Tid Bits

  1. Daddy was talking to me about how his co-workers think he's not being the husband he should be because he doesn't get me flowers for Valentines Day, birthdays and so on. I've told him that if he gets me flowers consistently I will be annoyed. I don't like him wasting our money on things that are going to die. He is really wonderful and makes me jewelery sometimes. That's much more unique, and special in my mind. Plus he has gotten me flowers a few times. Because it's infrequent, it's much more special. I don't like when people tell someone how they should be. It's like someone telling me how to discipline my children. If I want your advice I'll ask for it.

  2. My students in one class are working on a campaign for a nonprofit organization of their choice. They have to do a flyer, a mailer of some kind, a billboard-bus bench-environmental graphic {one of their choice, not all of those}, and a blog. It needs to look consistent. Once their design is done for one thing, they carry that same look throughout. I've been showing them things with their blog weekly. They have to make more than one page for it. The additional page is the nonprofit's mission statement. They have to have the nonprofits social media buttons that link up, 5 to 7 posts, a banner, a share button, and a disclaimer at the bottom saying that it's student work. Anything that they share from the actual nonprofit they have to source. I've shown them how to do each thing more than once. I record the lectures, and put them on the server for them to watch. I had a lot of them wait to do a lot of things with their blog until the last minute. For some reason there is a vast difference of students in the class. We have very smart workers, students that don't try that hard and on top of it do not ask questions, and a needy student that doesn't try at all to figure things out for herself, but wants A's. Let's just say after that day I was tired!

  3. My sister that is pregnant decided to go with a name I picked out again! I love picking out baby names. I picked out Emerson. His name is from Ralph Waldo Emerson. The new baby's name will be Edison. My Dad had an uncle named that. Old names are coming back. My Brother-in-law is one of those people that wants all his kid's names to start with the same letter. I think that would get confusing.

  4. Each time I'm done with something, I think of something new I have to do. I can see why people get stressed during the holidays. I always feel a lot better after finals are done. I'm not stressed, I'm just super busy!

  5. People were complaining at work about how it's so cold out. The temperature took a dive. I said, "I don't care what it's like outside. I'm just happy that Travis "Daddy" cleaned the garage out. My car now fits in it!" :)

Presto Photo Book Review

I was so happy to review a photo book by Presto Photo Book! I've never made a photo book before. At first I was intimidated. With Isaak getting sick, holidays, and finals coming up I just was overwhelmed with life. Once I did it, it really wasn't that hard. I did spend a lot of time on it though. I can now say I'm hooked. I want to make more!

I made a photo book filled with photos of our trip this summer.

Presto Photo has photo books, cards, calendars, and a bookstore. Their site allows you to choose templates, pick how many pages you want, and there is a lot more customization. You can add and subtract pages, while you're in the process. It took me awhile to upload all the photos I wanted to use. I had so many to go through. Some I wanted lighter, some I wanted darker, so I had to do some editing to do in Photoshop before I even began. I think their site was easy enough to use. It was more on my end with my own photo editing that took time.

Here are some of the many photos I uploaded.

You can see how the photo looks within the page. The image below shows you how you can crop the photo if you choose. The greyed out images on the top bar are the photos that were already picked to use in the book. That way you know that they've been used once already. The side bar shows all your pages. You can go back and change your mind on the photo selection if you choose to do so. I did have a little problem with my images that needed to be flipped. I got them flipped ok, but when I went to crop them in the zoom section, it still showed them sideways, which made it hard to see where to crop them.

This is one of my page layouts.

My book is packed full of high quality photos. I tried putting everything in order. Except for Carhenge. It was one of our first stops, but I wanted more of the nature shots to come first.

I choose to review a photo book for Daddy. It's going to be a Christmas present from me and the boys to him. That was another difficult thing, trying to make my book in private!

I generally have this fear that my codes won't work online. I could just see myself going through all the time of making a book, and then to find out that the code won't work. Guess what? It worked!

I am really impressed with the quality and how amazing my photos looked. I am impressed with how easy the site was to use, their great prices, the shipping was fast, nothing was bent, and it looked great! I highly recommend Presto Photo Book!

Santa Can't Disappoint For Two Years

I'm not a big shopper. I'm more of a browser online.

The weekend deals came. I refuse to go out on Thanksgiving. Friday was a day of putting up the tree, wrapping packages and working on the holiday card.

In the evening I stopped at the store to pick up an ingredient we were lacking for dinner, so I did stop into Walgreens. They had some deals, I knew it wouldn't be really busy, and I was right by the place.

On Saturday Mica had two birthday parties to go to. They were both across town from one another. The first one only invited Mica. The second one only had Mica and one other kid. It was a busy weekend for everyone. While we were waiting for Mica to get done with the first party we went to the mall. We were mainly killing time. We took Isaak to Crazy 8 to try on jeans. He had plenty of pants handed down from Mica, but they all have holes in the knees. I picked up two pair for him, and one grey pair for Mica. All were $10, but I had a 25% off card to.

Daddy looked annoyed that we were there. Many times I get the boys clothes he says, "I should come with you sometime." He's such a liar good sport of a husband.

Isaak saw that Santa was down the way. Isaak said, "I want to see Santa!" Daddy rolled his eyes. Remember we're killing time I said, "Ok Isaak we have time for you to see Santa honey." I have no pictures this time. They don't let you take photos, and I wasn't planning on him seeing Santa that day.

Isaak said right away, "Santa I want a Doggie Puzzle. You never gave me one last year." Then he showed him his missing tooth, explained he had other loose teeth, and talked about getting the award at school.

Santa couldn't find a doggie puzzle last year. He She didn't look too hard for a doggie puzzle last year because Isaak has puzzles that he never does. I mentioned this to Isaak and he said, "I don't do them because they aren't doggie puzzles Mom."

Santa got online to pick out a Doggie puzzle. He She didn't want to spend a lot because again Isaak has a stack of puzzles he doesn't put together. Walmart had a cheaper one, but it was dogs mixed with other animals. Land of Nod I love, but it's usually pricey. This item was reasonable. They had free shipping, and a 25% off code. It's about the right level to. Isaak's not as gifted with putting puzzles together as Mica is. Mica can do those 3D puzzles like it's no big deal.

Source
Santa can't disappoint for 2 years in a row. Isaak had a booklet he got from Santa. Mica was helping him fill it out. It had a spot for the kid to write a letter. In the letter you had to say if you were naughty, or nice. Mica said, "Well you can put that you are sort of trying to be nice." Smarty pants!

As for Daddy - He bitches complains every year because he doesn't know what anyone is getting. I want to say, "Well you do the shopping then!"

Putting Up Our Tree

Daddy put up our tree and lights. We don't get a real one because of my silly allergies. I'm sure the dust isn't good either. We're shooting for the lesser of the two evils health wise. I put up the ribbon and beads. The boys with my help put up the ornaments. Isaak calls them, "Ordaments". It was Isaak's turn to put up the star.

I also wrapped a package for each cousin, each boy, Daddy and one for myself. The boys thought it was funny that I wrapped one for myself. They were begging to know what was in their own boxes. Mica thought he had it all figured out. He doesn't.

I also worked on our holiday card. I'm stuck because I think I'm close to done, but sometimes when you work on things for a long time you're not sure if you're done, or not. I still have to write out something for the back. That will take awhile to.

Here's what I have:

It's from a cake I made in an Oreo Challenge from A Nut in A Nutshell. I seriously do not know if I'm done, or not. Daddy thinks I need snow flakes on the left side. I'm kind of going for a Jib Jab kind of look.

Daddy spent some time looking through a Christmas find book with Mica and Isaak. They were super into it.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was wonderful. I got to play with my cousin's kids. All the other get times we've gotten together she just stared at everyone. This is the first time she came out of her shell to play. She kept running back and forth from Great Grandpa Kent, a Great Great Uncle, and myself. Every time I rolled up my tongue, and stuck it out, she would stick her tongue out. I'm sure her parents will love that I thought her to stick her tongue out. I also crawled after her growling like a dog. She thought that was hilarious.

We all bring food to the house where Thanksgiving is hosted. There's always good yummy things.

The boys watch football, the girls chat, the kids play, and I bounce around to play with the kids and chat.

There were some missing people. My Cousin Brent's wife was sick, and my nephew Emerson was really sick. There seems to be someone sick every holiday. Isaak was still not very hungry from being sick the Monday before.

We left early to go see the lighting downtown at the Gene Leahy Mall. It was cold. The boys had a long day. The boys kept saying, "When will the lighting start?" Luckily we had connections to get a good parking spot. Someone in the parking lot of the gallery where my husband's work is at leaked to us where to park for free.

Then we walked to get hot chocolate, and to a free holiday concert at the Holland Performing Arts Center. We had never been there, so it was nice to see the space. By this time it was getting later. The boys were cold, and had a long day.

The Omaha Symphony played Christmas music. My favorite was the Charlie Brown theme song.

Mica had the worst hat head I have ever seen. Isaak fell fast asleep. So the night ended.
