Music and Art Night

The boys had Music and Art Night at school. We've been to the ones in the past, but this one was different. Mica was signing. He had 2 speaking parts to.

I kept trying to prep him with his lines. He didn't have trouble remembering them. He just wanted to say them really fast. I said, "Mica just say them like you are having a conversation. Don't race through them."

He ended up doing great! The only thing that wasn't great is the rest of the school gym. Kids and adults were chattering like crazy. One of the boy's friend's Dad kept talking behind us. It was right after the principle said to be quiet. I looked back at him, smiled and said, "Shhhh. Didn't you just hear him?" He then was a little less talkative. I think Isaak was better behaved than a lot of other people. I was proud of him!

This is Isaak's flower. He wouldn't give me a, "Normal" look.

Mica kind of annoyed me because he kept going on and on that his hand artwork wasn't up. Well he didn't tell me he had a cool dragon up; that was better than the hands anyhow. Grandma and Grandpa came, and I so would have showed them. Here he is pointing at it. This was way at the end, after Grandma and Grandpa left.

I couldn't be too mad. He did great with his actions and speaking part. He says he sings, but I hardly see his mouth moving. I was so proud I cried in the middle, and handed the camera off to Daddy. Daddy was laughing at me. He of course had to point out my watery eyes to all the people around us.

I guess I'm turning into my Mom's Daughter after all. My Mom and Aunt's cry at a lot of things. I can't go to a wedding, or a kid's singing event without getting teary eyed. The flower girl, and ring ring bearer are so cute and excited, they make me cry. The kid's and their actions during a performance makes me cry. Oh and the high pitched notes that they can't hit makes me cry. So when you see the camera move, it's because I lost it. Is anyone else like this?

Here's part of Mica's performance. He has a line in the middle.

The Things Isaak Says!

Before I get into what Isaak said, I should tell you about our night:
  • We went to cousin Evan's Ice Cream Social. There we had pizza, water and a cupcake. Ya no veggies tonight. They don't serve what I call "the good stuff" at events like that.
  • Isaak wanted to eat his cupcake before his pizza. I wouldn't let him and he wasn't happy with me. He got over it when he realized that we all had to wait to eat our cupcakes. I was stupid for not asking for white frosting on all our cupcakes! Aunt Terra's boys were all clean looking, and Isaak looked like a Smurf by the time he was done! Mica got white frosting, so he was pretty clean.
  • We played a few games. Then it was time to go home. I wanted to catch some of Daddy's art opening. You can see his work here. The boy's clearly didn't want to leave the Ice Cream Social. Of course not! What little kid would want to leave fun games that their cousin's get to stay and play?
  • We went to walk back to Aunt Terra's where our car was parked. The whole way back I listened to Isaak cry about how he needed to go number 2, how he wanted up, he picked his nose and wanted me to take care of his booger {yuck}! I made him walk {it wasn't too far}. I know I'm a mean Mommy. We got back, went into Terra's house, and he wouldn't even go potty.
That leads into what Isaak said:
  • Isaak's nose was snotty, so I wiped it with some toilet paper.
  • He looked up at me and said, "Gross don't wipe my nose with toilet paper! That's what you wipe my butt with Mommy!"
  • I explained to him that toilet paper can be used for both purposes. He wasn't buying it!
Off to Daddy's show:
  • Ya it never happened. The whole way home Isaak complained of his tummy hurting. Mica was hungry and thirsty. I looked back at them, and thought they looked dirty from playing outside and eating cupcakes.
  • Daddy was totally fine with that. It's not like we haven't seen his work before.

Daddy's Solo Art Show

  • Daddy's first solo art show was very eventful!
  • He had a lot of new pieces that he spent hours working on.
  • We made all the food. This took some time as well.
  • There are a few things we'd do differently, but we learn with everything we do. Like make more cake balls and bring a guest book for people to sign their names in.
  • He designs and fabricates mostly sculpture, some jewelry and painted one painting. The painting process was really cool; it was painted with recycled Styrofoam. He melted down meat trays with acetone. It turns into a tar like substance, and he finger paints with it.
  • If you want any custom made jewelry Travis is your man! You can email him at: contact@designawax.com, or make a comment on his blog.
  • He can design just about anything, and will show you preliminary drawings before he fabricates it.
Here Daddy is trying a necklace on Aunt Angela that he both designed and fabricated.
Daddy spent a lot of time mingling, which is good.
I'm not going to show you much of his art. You can go to his blog to look at some of his stuff. Google Friend him while you are there! I spent most of my time watching our kiddo's. I mingled to. Isaak eating a nack "snack."

Happy Fourth!

  • I want to tell everyone if I don't get a chance, Happy Fourth of July!
  • Daddy is having a solo art show this weekend. Grandma and Grandpa Apel will be coming into town.
  • Things will be busy in the Apel household!

Daddy's Solo Art Show

  • Daddy's solo art show is this Saturday. I'm both nervous and happy for him. He still has to set up, and that can be a chore!
  • The image above is just a teaser of one sculpture he's been working on. He'll be displaying jewelry in the show as well.
  • You can see more of his work here.

Daddy's Solo Art Show

  • Daddy's solo art show is coming up this weekend. He's been working his tail off!
  • You can see his work here!
  • Google Friend him please! He really has very little time network.
  • I've decided to make a few treats to add.
  • The first one is Strawberry Cake Balls. You can check out how to make them here!
  • I'm also going to try and make pillow cookies. I'll post how to make them once they are made. I want to make sure they work before I post them because I've never made them before.
