Sing, Sing a Song Saturday

I started doing what I call Sing, Sing a Song Saturday.  I'm going to post one song on Saturdays that the boys or I like.

The song may be part of a movie, a kid's video or just a song we like. I'll try and include why we like it and/or the history of the song/singer.

I know I usually try to cover newer bands/musicians. Someone asked me if I have cover country before. I haven't. I don't like a whole lot of new country. I do like the older stuff.

I looked up on Google: new country that sounds like old country.

There's a website for everything. Sure enough there's a website for my search.

I'm covering Ashley Monroe today. Maybe you know of her, but since I just don't even listen to the modern country station I had never heard of her. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. When she was 11 she won a talent contest singing, I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart. Ashley has been featured on ABC's Nashville.

Yay - someone I've heard of. I'm not all that into country music, though, but I have to admit that she does have a really nice voice.

I like her... although this is a first for me to hear her.

She doesn't sound like Becky Hobbs, but her voice reminds me of her for some reason anyway!

Vince Gill is awesome, I liked the interview.
