I know I was such a slacker last week, and skipped learning about a newish band, singer, musician. I have plenty on the list, but was busy. I'm busy this week to. I'm going to try and get this knocked out. Let's be honest...I'll be busy until the holidays are over with.
One of my friends posted a jazz song that I fell in love with right away. I've always liked jazz, but don't listen to it all the time.
Kate Davis is the voice in the band Postmodern Jukebox. Let me tell you Kate Davis is wonderful! She is not the soul singer of the band. Scott Bradlee is the leader in the band. Scott educates his audience about 20th-century song styles; he’s commenting on the elasticity of the pop form; he’s confounding cultural context; he’s uniting generations; he’s breaking the rules. He’s manifesting postmodernist ideas in his approach to production and business as well as music. But as far as the fans are concerned, it’s just fun (and sometimes funny). Bradlee himself will tell you, simply, “I reimagine a song in another style because I want to hear it that way.” Scott gets new singers all the time to fit the song.
By the looks of it they have their own TV show. I don't have cable, so I've never heard of it.
Kate Davis - Upright Bass
That is very cool. I like things like this.
I do have cable but still never heard of this band. I don't listen to much music though.
These are all wonderful tunes. Thanks for sharing.
They all sound really good! I love the old world bluesy sound the first girl has. Makes me think of nigh clubs in the flapper days!
Interesting twist The Post Modern Juxebox puts on these popular tunes. Thanks for the introduction. I'm sure to check their music out. Great to see you on the dance floor this morning with the 4M crew boogieing!
These were fab I enjoyed them :-)
Have a musictastic week and remember...
It's all about the bass
I thought you'd written "I'm gonna get knocked out." That would be a unique post. I've got my final new experience for the year sorted ;)
By the way, I Googled SOFT and a lot of different websites came up. Which website do you donate to?
Very nice. Always like hearing new and interesting music. Thanks for sharing.
I like certain types of jazz, but not others. I'll have to check them out.
This is very cool. And now that song (all about that Bass) will be stuck in my head. That's one that I keep singing over and over if I hear it, lol
What great videos...it was almost like I was in the room with them. Thank you for something truly different around here. That's one of the beauties of this blog hop..we all have something unique to share.
Thanks for the dance and I hope you have a great week!
Are they kidding me? The last one was a bit of an insult as far as I'm concerned. That woman needs to learn Hark the harold angels sing is not supposed to be sung sexy or jazzy. Girls just want to have fun I totally cracked up. Where did you find these songs. aughhhhh HELP!!! THEY'RE ALMOST LAUGHABLE! EWWWWWWW
Thanks for rocking with us this week!
Have a musical week!
That is intriguingly different! It reminds me a little of The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. If you like this, you may like that. Or hate it... But it's well worth a look!
Thanks for a great post either way!
Love when musicians put their own spin on songs. Love the jazz version of all about the bass.
They are really good at what they are doing! And it seems that they are really enjoying. I will offer to try something different for my baby girls. Now they always organize a little concert every Saturday. They put their concert clothes on, put on their favorite jewelry ( for example amber necklaces and bracelets) and perform! How glad they are when we have guests coming over. I will give them a suggestion of this style of music, maybe they'll want to perform this genre this time! Haha! Thank for sharing <3
