Random Tid Bits

  1. I've had not 1 but 2 companies lately say that I'd get something to review, and to send over my address. Then I never heard from them again. Has this happened to anyone else? I didn't say anything bad, I just sent over my address like they asked. That's like a winner not getting a prize that they spent time entering.

  2. I belong to this app called Nextdoor.

This lady (we'll call her Cally - not her real name) put out a thank you for people getting her groceries and helping her out, when she asked for it.

I was curious to see if I knew her or any of her friends, so I copied and pasted her name into FB. It was the same person on both. She has a dent in her forehead like she was shot, or got something removed and stitched up. She has the same star tattoos on her chest.

On her FB page someone posted, "Cally has moved on to the next life and we (her family) would like people to stop messaging her. Her phone is on so we can hear her voice, but please leave her and us to rest."

Now I'm wondering if there is a true mystery there. Is this girl dead to her family? Was she running from something, and that's why she needed help? My mind won't escape this drama.

  3. Has anyone else out there watched Man in the High Castle - the final season?

I love that show, so much! I put the book on reserve at the library, for Mica. Let's hope he reads it. He's mostly into watching videos on his phone, and laughing.

  4. Mica fell at recess. Side note: How great is it that he has recess? Isaak doesn't at his school. Well he has Walking Club if he gets done with lunch fast enough. He never does with brushing the food out of his braces. Back to Mica falling...He did something like this: He went to step up, there was no step, so he lunged into a metal step with his ribs, flipped, and landed on his knees.

He knocked the wind out of himself, so he couldn't breathe, or talk at first. Everyone gathered around. He went to the nurse's office. There she told him he bruised his ribs. We were never called. How odd, I thought that was protocol now a days.

We weren't planning on keeping him home the next day, but we did when he fell again in his room.

My Mom made me feel so guilty about leaving him home alone, and not taking him in. He's just uber sore! This is the same lady that sent my sister to school when she had an Appendix that needed to come out, and when she had the Chicken Pox after I just had them. She said they were moles. Moles that grew overnight. So if Mica gets worse it's on me. Ha!

  5. I really wish the lady that helped us get an HSA account knew more to tell us. She didn't even know how to assign us 2 cards.

We overpaid in it. I didn't even think that was possible. Now it's a mess! I think the cap is $6,000, and over all we put in more than that. Here I'm thinking it's a good thing we put money into it. Ya know to pay medical, dental, and orthodontist bills.

Travis had to go to the Orthodontist to have them take that out of our checking account instead of our HSA account. Then he has to go to the tax guy to figure out our options.

Random Tid Bits

  1. Last night I worked 8-4:40, picked up the boys by 5, came back to work by 6:15, and worked until 9:30. You can say that I'll be tired on today - Friday. (I'm pre-writing this). The students have a portfolio review night. Pros come in looking at their portfolios. Some of them get jobs out of going to it. I wish they had a night like that when I was in school.

  2. This sickness that we've had is crappy! We're all still feeling it. Mica flat out won't blow his nose unless someone tells him to. He'll go the whole school day with a snotty nose. I make him do the netti pot when we get home. Let's just say he should be blowing his nose! Isaak sounds like he's smoked for years - cough, cough, cough. I still don't sound myself when I talk. I've resorted to my inhaler. I don't like doing things like that, but it's pretty important to be able to breathe.

  3. I found out our Education Director is leaving. :( While she wasn't perfect (like anyone is - including myself); I will miss her. It's nothing bad. She's just ready to retire. She's the only female that works with me on a consistent basis. The boss' wife works here to, but she eats in her husband's office. No offense, but I need female time sometimes. I live with boys, and work with them to.

  4. I think it's crazy that we have more problems with race now than we have in awhile. Why do I think it's crazy? Because we finally have an African American President.

  5. I watched this video this last week. A great video on copyright infringement. It makes me sad that I got so into Cabbage Patch Kids. They should have had FRAUD stamped on their butts instead of Xavier Robers. He stole the design, idea from Martha Nelson Thomas.

Random Tid Bits

  1. Mica said to me, "Mom I know Sophie likes me." I said, "How do you know?" He said, "She told one of her friends. That same friend told me." He knows he's too young for a girlfriend.

I respect him for confiding in me that he has a crush on a girl he barely knows. She's new this year, in the other class, cute, and the main reason he likes her is because she's smart. She's had a few Principle's Awards and goes to the honor's club with him.

  2. I could not figure out why my pen kept slipping out of my ear. I went into the bathroom, washed my hands, looked in the mirror, and saw a pencil in my ear, and a pen slipping out of my ear. Apparently 2 writing utensils just wouldn't fit.

  3. We took the kids to Bounce-U for a fundraiser my niece was a part of. I looked at the floor and turned to my husband to say, "I know the floor is supposed to look like confetti, or something like that. To me it looks like pills. Maybe they are subliminally pushing for parents to give their kids Riddlin."

Hey your kids are hyper, that's why you have them here to bounce off our walls. Sedate them a little - before you bring them to our establishment next time. Of course I'm making all this up, but doesn't their carpet look like pills?

  4. Isaak must have been going through a growth spurt. He has been ultra clumsy. The boys has bruises all over. He's also been wetting his pants. Not to the point where there's a puddle. Just a wet circle around the area where he pees.

At first I got after him. Then I read about how it's best not to bring attention to it. Bringing attention to it may make the problem worse. Boys in particular sometimes miss the cue of needing to go. It's true when I see the wet circle Isaak acts as though he didn't know it was there. I've noticed a pattern whenever he grows a lot he eats a lot the week before, is clumsy, and either has wet accidents at night, or the starting of an accident in his pants. Luckily he has had no pee accidents at night this time. I've dropped the issue, and just tell him to go more often. Luckily I haven't noticed him coming home from school that way.

  5. I thought this was really cool. A designer designed shoes that can grow 5 sizes for underdeveloped countries. I think these shoes should spread to everywhere. Although I think my boys would wear them out before the 5 different sizes have hit.

Random Tid Bits

  1. Our whole family has been having a hard time getting up and moving. I think it's because the seasons are switching. It's dark now when we wake up. I can for see the future: This weekend when I can sleep in, I'll wake up early.
  2. My oldest student this year hardly shows up to class. It's usually the younger ones; that are trying to figure themselves out that has the troubles. We're on week 6 of class, we have one class once a week, and he's missing 3 classes in both of my classes. In other words he's been in class 50% of the time. I printed out all the handouts on Monday to try and get him caught up. Yesterday he shows up with nothing to work on. I shook my head on the inside. Then went back to vent in the office.
  3. I have my first blind student in class. I feel for her. At the same time I don't want to coddle her. The real world will not coddle her. It's my job to teach her though. I'm having a difficult time knowing where to draw the line. So far I've let her come to me for help. I don't seek her out in a big way. I noticed that my assistant helped her out a little too much yesterday. She was frustrated over things not going right for her. I helped her in small ways, and I'm trying to get her caught back up; by printing her handout out, and talking with her.
  4. I got an email from a family friend. I swear I haven't seen the guy in 10 years. He just emailed me out of the blue to say, "Do you know anyone looking for design work for a funeral home? We use Microsoft Word." It just kind of hit me odd. Who knows someone looking for work in a funeral home? What designer designs in Microsoft to design? I just sent him back a link to the colleges career page. So if you are looking for work in a funeral home, email me.
  5. My co-worker has been asking me the same exact questions she did last year in regards to one of her projects. She forgets what to use on what for art techniques. I should just record my answers, put a date on the recorder, and play them back before her project.
  6. I was wondering about an old student. I googled his name and saw that he lit his whole family on fire, and was in jail for life. The same name, the same face I swore. I haven't seen him for 10 years. I dug a bit deeper, and found out that convict couldn't be him. He's too old to have been my student. So what is he really doing? I found the real him. He's a cross dresser in England. I have to be honest, I was relieved. Between being a cross dresser and a murder serving a life sentence, I like seeing him being the cross dresser. It's kind of odd for me to be happy about that. Who needs investigators when you have google?
  7. Mica had friends over, and they wouldn't eat my dinner. My kids will eat just about anything. It never fails Mica always asks for dessert. Does he always get it? No! Much of the time I give him a second helping. I think I should keep frozen pizzas in the freezer for when Mica or Isaak have friends over. We can eat junk when they have guests; I guess. What did we have that they wouldn't eat? Spaghetti Squash Pie. I think it's really good.
  8. Daddy and I have been trying to be better about lifting weights at the Y. We feel silly when many of the people have the weights on the heaviest setting. I take it out and put it on the lightest setting, and Daddy puts it on the middle one. Yep we're pretty wimpy compared to many of the people in there.
