Some Chocolates For Your Anniversary

I've always thought that some people are a little too needy for Anniversaries, Valentines Day, and Mother's Day (Dad's somehow don't seem as needy). We already have a Birthday and Christmas for gifts.

I'm not saying that everyone should have my same outlook.

Around our house we pick a place to go out to eat at for those extra holidays. If I've gotten something to review I may wrap it up for Travis, or even have Travis wrap something up for me. There are some times where we'll go see a movie, but even that is pretty rare.

Our boys have never experienced huge gift exchanges between Travis and I.

Travis makes me jewelry at times. That's special when that happens. I'm not the type that needs a fancy diamond. I like ruby's, and pearls better than diamonds. Pearls are my alternative birthstone. I wear a lot of red, so that's where ruby's come in to the picture.

I never drool when the Every Kiss Begins the Kay commercials come on around Valentines Day. The commercialism annoys me to be honest. I'd rather have something that is a one of a kind/artist made.

We were in line at Target, and Mica always checks out the merch by the cash register. He reads the covers of the gossip magazines, and thinks everything that he reads is true. I have to correct him on that.

He said, "Mom what's that holiday called where people celebrate the time a year they were married?"

I said, "Oh that's called an Anniversary."

He said, "Ya that! This would make a perfect gift for that holiday. Don't you think?" - Pointing at a set of foiled chocolates.

The girl behind us was laughing.

I said, "Mica that would be perfect for me. Many girls would expect more than that for their Anniversary. You just need to get to know your girlfriend, or wife to understand what kinds of gifts she likes."

Mica said, "Oh."

Are you a big gift person? I'm not saying that I'm not at all. I like a little something. The chocolates would actually work for me. :) I love picking out great presents for my kids, nephews and nieces. Kid gifts are fun!

WW: Valentines Day {Linky}

I've always bought my boys just a box of chocolates for Valentines Day. I put it on their spot at the table. It makes them happy. This year I heard from Travis, "I hope you didn't buy anything. I didn't buy you anything." He knows I'm not needy when it comes to gifts. I said, "Well I bought you and the boys a box of chocolates. I'll tell you what...I'll put out something from my review stash and put it on my spot at the table for me." I put out a baking mat. Whatever works. :)

Isaak was super happy when he woke up, and saw chocolates and a note at his spot. He grabbed his note, and wrote me one back.

My 1 year old nephew saw this photo (above) on Facebook. He now says, "Igick", instead of Isaak. It's pretty cute!

I made the boys a fancy breakfast.

Brotherly Love

Later we went over to my older sister's house to have heart shaped pizzas, a fruit salad, a green leaf salad, and brownie red velvet cake with homemade cream cheese frosting. It was all so good!

Did you do anything for Valentines Day?

Happy Valentines Day!

To everyone! Do you get into Valentines Day, or are you one of those people that hates the holiday? I could take it, or leave it. Since I have young kiddos, I try and make it fun.

Isaak's had 2 parties at school. He's in 2 preschools, so he gets to party it up. One was yesterday. He was so excited. Thankfully that is a small group. The preschool he's in today has a lot more kiddos. Mica has his party today. He brought his box that had black hearts on it for Black History month of course. ;) He's so silly!

I won a few things lately. Both were from Nutty blogs. :) I won a $100 GC to Fanny May Chocolates from A Nut in a Nutshell. I also won a GC to Jack Franklin - ties from Theresa's Mixed Nuts.

All my boys got a box of artisan chocolates at their table, a card and Daddy got a tie as well. The sucky thing is, is that it was still black as can be outside, so I had to use the flash for the pictures.

Both boys refused to let me help them open their boxes. They also wouldn't look up at the camera. Isaak had bed head.

We only let them have one chocolate. They are getting spaced out. They have to be eaten within 12 days of receiving them. These are good chocolates! Mica spent some time reading about each one and their different flavors.

While the little boys opened their chocolates, Daddy was making Eggs in a Basket. Have you had that before? I guess it was rated as one of the top breakfasts in the world on some site that Daddy found. I had never had it until he started making them. You cut a heat out of the bread with a cookie cutter. Then you grill the bread with egg in the open heart.

Here's Daddy with his tie:

Heads up! If you need a Valentines, there are a lot of printable ones online, for free. Board Inc. has some here: http://www.boredinc.net/sites/default/files/BoredIncValentines.pdf I printed them out for my students.

They have dirty ones like the one below. I do have to admit it's rather funny.
They also have just plain cute ones like the ones below.
