WW: Halloween {Linky}

This is me and one of my students for Halloween:

Mica saw Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump masks at the grocery store. They were marked down 50%. He said, "Mom can I have a Trump mask. He's scary!" At least that mask looked like who it was supposed to look like. Clinton's didn't. I caved, and let him get it. We're not into politics. We don't really like our choices this time around.

He was all excited to freak his friends out at a costume party he went to. I guess he was a hit. He was also really excited to wear the suit jacket I got him on the clearance rack for $20! It was originally $180.

He kept saying, "Make Halloween great again!"

Here's Mica and Isaak on Halloween night:

We went to a house that was all decked out. They always are. They give out a bag of candy + full sized sodas.

WW: Fall Festival

My boys had their Fall Festival at school on Friday. Dressing up is completely optional. I didn't know if we'd be able to go. We were supposed to have company that weekend. As it turned out the in-laws couldn't make it. :(

Mica wanted so bad to be a Star Wars character. I refused to pay full price for an adult costume. I love Halloween, but I have a few rules: I don't want to spend a long time on a costume, I don't want to spend a lot of money on a costume, and I try and use some of what I already have or go to the second hand store to get some things. He decided to go with Captain America once again. It's getting a little tight. For sure next year he'll need an adult sized costume.

To Isaak every Halloween should be scary, so he went as a Zombie again. The costume was huge last year, and fit well this year. He ripped it by yanking it out of his drawer. Travis decided to Duct tape it and staple it together instead of sewing it. Perfect!

I'm something new almost every year. Since I teach at an art college dressing up is something most teachers do. I won a banana package off of Mail4Rosey's blog. I rolled with that. I had on crazy pattered tights, and a yellow skirt. I couldn't decide if I should paint yellow over my whole face, arms, and have all yellow hair. I ended up with this:

WW: Trick or Treat? {Linky}

Halloween went pretty good.

Isaak said, "Mom I'm going to hold my mouth open like I'm blowing out steam." In Photoshop I added steam. Then I added laser eyes. He wanted me to add fire in the background, but I wanted to stop working in Photoshop.

BTW He is Superman, and Superman is much too strong to have help from Mom to hold his candy.

Mica had the idea of having me hold his whip, while I shot the photo. That way the photo would look like he really was using his whip.

Tough guys - that had trouble waiting for the sun to go down, so they could do their thing.

Isaak said, "Mom let's take one of those photos called a 'selfie'."

WW: Dressing Up Before Halloween {Linky}

This weekend we went to the library's Spooktacular Event. There were older, and younger kids there. I tried to teach Isaak how to play checkers against Indiana Jones AKA Mica. Mica wasn't having in. He was mad that we were winning. At least I got a good photo out of it.

A few weeks ago the boy's school had a fall festival. I tested out my Coraline costume. If you've seen the movie, I'm the "Other Coraline". I teach at an art school, so costumes are big at work. I'm glad I dressed up for the event. I realized that having buttons glued to the tops of my eyebrows would never last all of Halloween day. They drove me nuts for just a few hours! Blinking hurt! Since then I made button glasses per say. It's wire that attaches the middle of them, skin colored elastic that wraps around my head, and layers of hot glue on the bottom and back of the buttons to make them pop out, so I can blink easily. They don't look as cool, but they are much more comfortable.

Kids at the festival saw me, and asked how the buttons were on my eyes? The silly/twisted person that I am said, "I sewed them there." Their eyes got really big. I had to laugh, and told them the truth. They were glued above my eyebrows.

The boys have been ready for Halloween for some time. They love Halloween. Truth be told, they like dressing up at least once a week.

Isaak's Superman and Mica's Indiana Jones.

Mica's been getting into character by watching The Young Indiana Jones series that we checked out at the library.

WW: Superheros Every Day {Linky}

This is just a typical day at my house. Just like any other.

Meet Dr. Jones AKA Mica

He put on his slipper shoes because they matched best with his Indiana Jones costume. He used to have a whip, but that's long time gone. I think one of them unbraided it, and I threw it out. He still has his satchel though.

Meet Spidy AKA Isaak

When Isaak dresses up like Spiderman he puts on his Spiderman slipper socks, he Spiderman shoes, his Spiderman winter gloves and sometimes his Spiderman cape. I don't know how he does it in the heat. I couldn't stand it with all that on. He has to get in character though.

This is how they go outside to play most of the time. I wonder what our neighbors think?
Whoever thinks dressing up is only for girls should talk to my boys that dress up all the time. It enhances their creativity. They are my superheros.

We Have to Dress Up for Work

It's recommended. A few of my co-workers do not dress up. They won't get fired if they don't.

I work at a an art school. Many people go all out. Including myself (most years).

Myself as Frida Kahlo. She is a Mexican artist. This time Daddy did my eyebrows. He did a better job than I did. I used fake blood for my blush. My own blush just wasn't popping out against my dark skin makeup. I still somehow managed to make myself too dark. It's hard. I have very fair skin!

Here's some other costumes:

Flo from Progressive Car Insurance got in a bad car accident!

A student, my boss' wife, and my boss as Duck Dynasty characters. I've never watched the show, but I know some people that get into it. I live in the dark ages, and do not have cable.

Someone from Venice.

A Roy Lichtenstein's girl.

Can you believe the costume below was homemade?

There were a lot of other sweet costumes!

Do you dress up? I know some people get into Halloween, while others do not.

WW: Fall Festival {Linky}

Since I work at an art school, I decided to be the artist Frida Kahlo.

If you do not follow art here's what the real Frida looks like:

Since I'm mainly German and Swedish, I had to darken my skin somewhat. I think on Halloween I need to darken my eyebrows more, add more blush, and darken my skin a little less.

Mica was Super Man. He wanted me to add his kiss curl.

Isaak was Spider-Man last year, and wanted to be Spider-Man again. He flat out wore the old one so much that it got holes in it. We needed to go up a size.

The boys together. We were well protected with two super heroes.

Craziness happened when they won some prizes.

You can tell Spidy was a bit tired! All was good until Spidy realized as we got home that his mask was left at school. I told him to put it in his treat bag. I said, "Spider-Man doesn't leave his mask behind." He had a melt down. Daddy went to retrieve it. There it was on the gym floor. Lucky for a little boy that dreams about one day being Spider-Man.
