Tent

Sometimes we set the tent up for the boys on a weekend. We give them the option of sleeping in it. Isaak usually takes that option. Mica declines the offer, and sleeps in his room where it's more comfortable. It's funny how different the kids are sometimes.

The boys ate their dinner outside the tent, and watched Return of the Jedi for the first time. Mica in particular was so excited to see the movie.

It had been years since I've seen it. I went to the movie with my Aunt Sam and Uncle Steve. That was before they had kids of their own. I remember how excited everyone was to see it. The movie theater was buzzing with people. All the odd characters seemed real enough to me. It was hard for me to imagine that there were actors inside many of those robots.

Now when I watch it I can't help, but think that Darth Vader sounds like he's having an asthma attack.

The boys got into it. Mica in particular loved the movie, and wants to watch it again before we have to return it.

Are you a Star Wars fan?

Faux Camping Again

Faux camping was such a big hit last time we had Cousin's Evan and Elijah over that we decided to do it again. This time the little guys got to sleep in the tent. Evan and Mica got to sleep in it the last time. I guess Elijah was so excited for this! Then in the morning they all got in the tent to watch a movie, while I made breakfast.

In Order: Elijah, Evan, Mica and Isaak's way back behind and to the side of Mica (you can't see him).

Camping in Our Backyard

Since Mica's birthday party was postponed, we decided to pop a tent up in our backyard to make up for it. It's something we wanted to do most of the summer and never got around to doing until now.

By the way, I think everyone is over the tummy bug now! *Crossing my fingers!

We started the night out with dinner on our new outdoor furniture. Sorry no pictures of this. Our patio is cleaner, but not that clean.

Daddy wasn't planning on building a fire, but ended up doing so. Isaak and I went to get some stuff to make smores. When we got home Daddy and Mica had the tent popped and a good fire going!

Isaak was super excited to see both the tent and fire! Daddy said that Mica was a pretty good little helper.

When it came time for the smores, Mica didn't want to eat it because the marshmallow had black on it. Daddy and I kept telling Mica that the black was the best part! He finally decided to try it, and liked it. Isaak didn't want to eat his together. He had everything separate.

Mica spotted this in a crate by the fire. It's a butterfly caccoon. Mica came running down the hill and said, "Mommy you have to see this chrysalis!" I love when little kids use big words!

We slept in the tent. It was much colder then we had originally planned for. The ground was all wet just from dew. Isaak kept turning to the middle of the air mattress; pushing me practically off. Not the most comfortable night's sleep. Mica, Isaak and I woke up kind of stuffy. We have good memories though!

Storyteller Mica - Cowboy Travis Carl

  • We were in a tent set up in our living room. We were having what we call, "Circle Time." It's just a time to talk.
  • Daddy was trying to get Mica to understand the difference between what we need and what we want. He sort of got it.
  • Isaak doesn't really participate in circle time yet. You ask him any questions and he doesn't really answer you with too much. He's happy to cuddle though.
Then Mica said he wanted to tell us a story:
  • The story was about a cowboy named Travis Carl. Daddy and I both looked at each other and started cracking up! Travis is Daddy's name.
  • Cowboy Travis Carl rode around the earth on his horse once to find a flower, another time to meet another cowboy and a third time to see a tree with an owl in it. There was lots of information in the mix of all that.
  • When Cowboy Travis Carl met the owl, the owl said, "Who are you?" The story ends with the cowboy saying, "I'm Travis Carl."
Circle time ended with...
  • Both boys blowing raspberries on our tummy's.
  • They were each laughing so hard!

Wordless Wednesday - In a Pop Up Tent

  • The boy's playing in their pop up tent. They had a few of their toy's they got for Christmas in with them.
  • Mica loves his super hero cape, Isaak thinks his is a blanket. He'll catch on soon enough I hope. ;)
