CowBell for cheering at sporting Events Review

"More Cowbell!" is just fun to say. I got a chance to review a Cowbell from CowBells4u.com. You can purchase their Cowbells on Amazon for $19.99. They do come in a variety of colors. I was sent white.

You may be wondering why in the heck I'd want to review a Cowbell?

I play games with my students in the classroom.

Three students at a time sit up front with 3 types of buzzers, or bells. I keep rotating the students, so everyone gets a chance to play. I ask them review questions. They can use their notes for the game. Whomever beeps, buzzes, or rings in first gets to answer the question. If they get the question wrong, or no one beeps, buzzes, or rings anyone gets a chance to steel.

With each question a students gets right, they get 2 extra credit points in my class. That may not seem like a lot of points, but one student could get 10 questions right = 20 extra credit points.

Whoever wins the most points in the room gets a Snickers Bar. Sometimes we have ties, so a few Snickers Bars get handed out.

I use a megaphone that has button noises on it, a beeper from a game, and now I have a Cowbell they can use. I already have a lot of fun with the megaphone. Now I get to have fun with the Cowbell! I get to say, "More Cowbell!"

It's Fun to Make Some Noise at Times!

Other things you can use a Cowbell for:
  • Cheer on your favorite team
  • Instead of tapping wine glasses at a wedding reception, you can use a Cowbell
  • Getting kid's attention in a fun way
The Bell's Smooth Finish Makes the Surface Easy to Decorate and Customize:
  • Stickers
  • Decals
  • Paint
  • Permanent Markers
  • Round Bumper Stickers
You can show off your team or school spirit! I put the school's bumper sticker on mine. It has to wrap around a little, but it's still fun!

Ring for a KISS!
Ring for the New Year!
Decorate with Bride & Groom's Name and Date.

The only downside is that the paint started coming off on the inside. No one looks at the inside very much. It makes me wonder how long the paint will last. That was just after a few rings. I almost think the company should just leave the inside unpainted.

WW: Artwork {Linky}

Last week we went to the boy's school to look at their artwork.

In Mica's class they did an image of someone that was a Civil Rights leader.

I thought it was funny because one of his classmates did a portrait of Michael Jackson. Not exactly a leader in Civil Rights per say.

Mica chose Thurgood Marshall. He was an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, serving from October 1967 until October 1991. Marshall was the Court's 96th justice and its first African-American justice.

I'm assuming he used this as his reference:

The skin color was pretty off. If he used the reference above that explains that.

In Isaak's class they did an image of a profession they'd love to be in.

Isaak chose a barber. He loves to "do" my hair. He sprays it with water, so much so that water runs down my neck. He brushes it, has me put it up, and brushes it some more, while it's up. It hurts, but is funny to.

When I first saw the image I was like, Oh no is that a bomb, or a knife? Nope it's the barber's comb. :)

Was it an Asthma Attack? Nope it Was Croup!

I thought Isaak had allergy issues all of last week: Stuffy nose, sore throat, warm, but no fever. His throat looked fine. He was extra emotional, but I've always said that Isaak's the girl I never had (emotional wise). I don't say that to his face.

Then on Saturday I heard a loud bang at 2 in the morning. Travis and I both rushed into his room. He was crying hysterically. I thought he fell out of bed. I don't know what happened exactly. I just know he was screaming saying, "I can't breathe! I don't want to die. Please don't let me die!" He was wheezing.

I thought he was having an asthma attack. I've had them. Sometimes if allergies get really bad, an asthma attack can occur.

I was trying to stay calm. I grabbed Isaak, told Travis to get the Vics Baby rub to rub on his chest, and a drink of water. I know Vics does nothing. I was just trying to calm him down. Then I told Travis to get my phone, so I could call the oncall nurse. Travis at this point was about to come unglued on me. He said, "I know I'm quitting my job, but we NEED to get him to the emergency room NOW! It's not time to be cheap Alissa!"

I said, "I know Travis, but we need to ask the nurse, and we need to calm Isaak down. Calming him down will help him to breathe."

The nurse asked me some questions and said, "Take him to the ER."

So we threw some clothes and slippers on Isaak, to go to the ER.

Travis nearly went threw red lights, and sped the whole way there. Isaak by that time calmed down.

The doctors, nurses and receptionist were great. They really knew what they were doing. I didn't have to deal with insurance - Dad did that. Isaak and I went to get him treated. They said, "Hear that cough? It's a seal's cough. He has Croup."

I said, "He was freaking out because he couldn't breathe." They said, "Yep they all do."

They handed Isaak an ipad with Fruit Ninja on it.

Then they gave him a Steriod drug to open him up.

Besides his seal cough, here's the difference between an Asthma Attack and Croup: Asthma is tightening in the chest and Croup is tightening in the throat. They both need a Steriod treatment if they get bad.

I know what Croup is. Mica had it as an older baby. I just thought only babies and toddlers got it. It's a parainfluenza virus. It's most common in babies and toddlers, but any child can get it.

Since then I got this sickness. Adults can get it to. They just don't get the breathing problems that go with it. Now Mica has it. He's just sneezing, and coughing.

What to do with Croup:
  • We did do the right thing to go to the emergency room. Steriods will help open the airway. They even said we could come back if needed.
  • Steam helps. We've had some baths and our Crane frog humidifier with peppermint oil has been getting a workout.
  • Drink a lot of water. My kids swear I'm trying to drown them. You know they aren't getting enough water if their lips are dry, or their pee is yellow.
  • I had to point this next one out to Dad: Keep them calm! If a child, or an adult gets panicked during an Asthma or Croup attack that can close up their airway even more.
Croup gets worse at night.

Isaak feel Croupy!
Yes I know Mr. Sicky needs a hair cut.

I'm not looking forward to the bill we'll get, but we did what we had to do. The hospital was wonderful!

Boy Craft: Loads of This to Make FOR and WITH Boys (and Girls) Book Review

As soon as I saw the book Boy Craft: Loads of This to Make FOR and WITH Boys (and Girls) By Sara Duchars & Sarah Marks I knew I wanted the book for Isaak. He loves crafts, but many craft kits, and books out there are for girls. This one is geared towards boys. If a girl wants to join in they can.

You can get this 128 page book on Amazon for $14.07 for a Kindle to $14.81 for a Paperback Book. It is on Prime, so if you have Prime there's no shipping cost. It's full of photographs, illustrations, instructions, and templates.

Like I said Isaak loves crafts. We got a few other books to review at the same time, and Isaak loved those to. It was hard for him to pick out exactly what he wanted to do out of this book for some reason. We finally settled on making a necklace.

We collected things to make a necklace:
  • A cap of some kind. We finished a BBQ sauce, and saved the lid.
  • Spray paint, or craft model enamel paint. With my help we spray painted it red.
Then we painted the edge with gold - that's Isaak favorite color. Isaak wanted the center painted white.
  • Optional small junk to put on necklace. Isaak loves to collect washers, and nuts laying on the ground in parking lots. We added a washer to the lid with super glue
  • Ribbon, or elastic string to attach to the lid. We used hot glue to attach it.
He was happy with his necklace.

I think it's actually pretty cool looking.

Making junk necklaces would be perfect for a birthday party. Everyone could keep what they make, and you pay very little on supplies.

Boys and girls love making stuff!
  • They like making model boats, paper airplanes, bows and arrows and catapults.
  • They also like knitting; scarves, hats, spiders and monsters. Boys like sewing and cutting and gluing and sawing and hammering.
  • Boy Craft is packed full of projects to make for and with boys, illustrated with a mix of photographs and graphic-style illustrations.
There is all kinds of projects in this book! From making models, to sewing monsters, to pouring plaster, weaving, paper mache, and more!

Isaak and I decided to start with one of the more simple crafts in the book. I figure we can work our way up to more challenging crafts. What's great about this book is that it's for all ages. While I don't think we're ready for some of the projects, we'll get there.

Check out other cool books at creativepub.com.

Black Derby Hat (Unisex) Review

I have 2 sons that still like to dress up. Not in dresses. In superhero outfits, masks, and funky hats. I got a Black Derby Hat (Unisex) to Review. I think Mica will enjoy it. He loves looking sharp.

It's one size fits all. This hat does fit Isaak and I. I didn't try it on Mica because I want it to be a surprise. Just a note: Our family has smallish heads. I just know this because my sister's family has melon heads. If your head size is bigger this hat may fit you differently than it does us.

The hat is not the most comfortable hat. It just feels inexpensive. It's $8.99. They would make great party favors! I do like that it can be used for a lot of different dress up outfits.

You can dress it up with a nice shirt and pants, or dress it down with jeans and a t-shirt. It reminds me of the hat Johnny Depp wore in Benny and Joon.

I think Mica will enjoy the hat.
