Eight Year Check Up

Mica just had his 8 year check up.

The boys got to watch Monsters Inc. in the lobby before Mica's appointment. As you can see Mica was glued to the TV.

How do kids squat like this?

He weighs 59 pounds and 6 ounces (63%) and is 53" tall (90%). Why am I telling you this? Because he has to be eight years old, and weigh 80 pounds to be out of a car seat according to Nebraska state law.

He'll be hitting puberty before he can get out of a booster seat. I can see myself saying, "Here's your permit son. Oh you can get out of your booster seat now." He'll get his sex talk at school before he legally gets out of his booster seat.

I'm all for safety, but it's sort of crazy when you think about it.

Mica's good health wise.

I am laughing because I totally feel your pain! Or his pain that is. Allison is going to be 10 this year and only weighs 52 pounds. She has been dying to get out of the booster seat for ages now, but state law says no way. So, her and Mica are in the same boat (or booster seat lol)

Oh jeez. I think here in MA, it's an age thing to get out of a car seat - not a weight thing. Mine will be 9 next month and has been out of a car seat since last summer.

I agree, there should be a certain age because I know one of my grandsons who is 12, is very small. His parents are both short so it will leave him to where he may join your son. Maybe they can go get their booster seats together when they go get their license....crazy!

I think the booster seat laws in Michigan are ridiculous too.

LOL at the squat, must be nice to be young. :)

Hahahahha.... Alissa... I can still squat like that and I have had a hip replacement. I used to do that when I was a kid all the time.... now I can do it but don't so often.

i know we tried to change to a booster seat once, but i was not comfortable with it, so we went back to the car seat...

I agree, it is sorta silly, but I wonder what their studies have found. My kids were out of car seats at age three or four. I hope this car seat situation doesn't lead to kids teasing him. How old is Mica?
