Folders - Round 2

This story just cracks me up, or annoys me! We'll go with cracks me up.

A long time ago, which was 2 years ago a co-worker who I will call Mrs. Clean Freak had me walk across the school to tell her who's stack of folders were sitting in the classroom.

They were mine. I use them in class I'm in that room. I collect the students sketches and papers. Then they get their folder to take home, or do whatever they wish with it at the end of the year. Many love looking through it. Mrs. Clean Freak wanted them gone. Poof! Out of there! I put them in my office.

Then when she wasn't looking, I tip toed my ass back into the classroom to hide the big stack of folders better.

They went from here:

Which is in the back of the room, to here:

Oh you can't see them can you! Now can you see them?

They stayed hidden there for 2 years. I changed the folders, because we had new students come in. In the same spot they stayed.

An Open House is coming up, so Mrs. Clean Freak is cleaning. Apparently very well too well.

Mrs. Clean Freak came hauling the folders back into my office. They are probably all out of my alphabetical order. I actually alphabetize them by first name because that's what I call them. My mind works better that way.

Mrs. Clean Freak: Are these yours? They look like they've been there for awhile.

Me: I use them every time I'm in there. I thought they were hidden pretty well.

Mrs. Clean Freak: Can you put them in your office? At least until the Open House is over?

Me: Sure.

Me Thinking, but Not Saying: Sure Mrs. Clean Freak. You must not of cleaned hard enough last year because you didn't see the folders then. People walking through for the Open House surely can't see office folders. Things like folders, tape dispensers, pencils, pens, paperclips, recycle bins don't belong in a classroom. God forbid people think we work here. - By the way that is all stuff I have to hide before an Open House. How silly! Recycle bins have to be hidden, but trash cans can be sitting out.

Mrs. Clean Freak complains about her brother being a clean freak. He's the owner. I think they both are clean freaks. They both come from the same gene pool.

My Mom told me a bit of advice once...Let the little stuff go. Ever since then the little stuff doesn't bother me. People that get annoyed about the little things I find humorous. There's a part of me that likes to push buttons to get them going.

As for what they'd call me...

I'm an organized slob. Ha! I'm not really bashing the clean freaks, ok maybe I am. In their minds they are calling me Mrs. Slob, so we're even.

Strange!!!

Update!

She came in to ask me if I'd go hide the pencils, pens, tissue boxes in the classroom. Maybe I'll sneak my folders in the room. I could hide them on a student's desk. Ha!

The Story of the Teal Chair

Isaak had in his room a preschool/Kindergarten type table, and 2 small chairs. He was out growing it. I thought we'd have to buy him a desk at Ikea. It needed to be small to fit in the space he has. Then it dawned on me that I had a unused desk downstairs that he could use.

Out went the small table and chairs. Thankfully my sister Terra took them in.

Up went my old desktop computer desk that used to be my sister's when she was a kid.

The chair in Mica's room belonged to the desk that is now in Isaak's room. I hot glued felt on the bottom of the chair, so it wouldn't further scratch our wood floors. Isaak now has the chair.

Mica needed a new chair. The trouble was, that his desk has a narrow chair opening. We went to ShopKo to look at an office chair. They only had 1 chair, it was too wide. We went to our biggest furniture store, Nebraska Furniture Mart. They had a ton of office chairs, but only 2 would fit the space. Both were black, $55 and $75, and 1 was out of stock. I thought about Office Depot/OfficeMax, but so many have closed I was unsure of where they are even at. I called Big Lots, which was right down the street to see if they had office chairs without handles. I was noticing the added handles are what made them too wide for his desk. They had a chair on sale for $34.

We drove there, and picked up a black chair! The store clerk stopped us and said, "Do you know that they come in other colors?" We're like, "Nope!" They came in grey (out of stock), red (more of a coral color), and teal. Mica's like, "Yes! I want the teal one!"

Mica grabbed the chair box, and insisted on caring it throughout the store. It was pretty heavy for him.

Teal goes much better in his room. He has a bright orange locker in his room, and a teal drawer on his locker bed. Complimentary colors work well together.

We got home, and Mica wanted to put his chair together. I said, "I don't know...your birthday is on Wednesday. I thought you could wait to put it together." Of course I was joking. He helped Travis put it together right away.

What's something you were excited to get when you were younger?

Eight Year Check Up

Mica just had his 8 year check up.

The boys got to watch Monsters Inc. in the lobby before Mica's appointment. As you can see Mica was glued to the TV.

How do kids squat like this?

He weighs 59 pounds and 6 ounces (63%) and is 53" tall (90%). Why am I telling you this? Because he has to be eight years old, and weigh 80 pounds to be out of a car seat according to Nebraska state law.

He'll be hitting puberty before he can get out of a booster seat. I can see myself saying, "Here's your permit son. Oh you can get out of your booster seat now." He'll get his sex talk at school before he legally gets out of his booster seat.

I'm all for safety, but it's sort of crazy when you think about it.

Mica's good health wise.

Painful Tears

At 2 AM Daddy woke up to crying. Mica just doesn't cry a lot. He's been sick with a cold. Well it was Mica that was crying. He said that his left ear hurt really bad. Daddy gave him some ibuprofen, cuddled with him and went back to bed.

Mica woke up in the morning complaining about his ear again. Daddy called the doctor's office, which is open from 10 to 12 on Saturdays. The nurse said to go in. I took him across town and the nurse at the desk said that we would have to make an appointment for later that morning.

We killed some time going to Build a Bear. The boys enjoyed it. We ate. Then were on our way back to the doctor's office.

Mica was in pain by that time. He was cuddling with me, and laid down when he got into the doctor's office. His lymph nodes are swollen, his left ear is super infected, he's whiter then usual, more emotional then usual and he's sleepy. The doctor put him on antibiotics and ear drops because his ear was so red.

The image Mica drew for the doc. It's a future drawing of himself.
We drove back across town, stopped to pick up his meds, had a 15 min wait and left with only his antibiotics. The nurse forgot to call in his drops. Mica was crying the whole 15 min and all the way home because he was in so much pain. It was too early to give him ibuprofen. He drifted off to sleep the moment we got home. I gave him his antibiotic, it was then time for his ibuprofen and I put a warm pack on his ear. His drops did come in. I didn't want to leave with a boy in pain. Daddy saved the day by leaving work to go get his drops.

Mica's been sleeping all afternoon. Poor kid! This could be part of why he was overly emotional the other night, or he could of just been tired.

A lot went wrong today. I am grateful that the boys have a doctor's office that is open Saturday mornings. I'm also grateful for Urgent Care.
