Swimming Baffled

Isaak has us baffled with swimming, yet again.

He's been lagging behind most of the other kids. His coach doesn't think it's because he can't do it. He thinks it's because Isaak chooses to go slow.

The slower he goes, the longer he can stay in the water.

We're not sure if he should go up, or stay at the same level in swimming.

Isaak always has been a slow child. Not slow, as in unable. Slow because it's relaxing, and easier.

Here he is during his boat safety week:

Swimming is an essential skill. I hope they teach him "drown proofing" which is a way of treading water almost indefinitely. I remember how they taught swimming in basic training. Everybody into the pool, if you can't swim, you're about to improvise.

I think everyone goes at their own pace and he's just being cautious.

Aww, it's kind of cool that he does his own thing while still remaining within the expected boundaries. :)

I know it's hard to make decisions when they're on the line though. Good luck with it!!

I think it is terrific that he is learning to swim. I am sure he will be great!

Have yall tried to talk to him about it, to ask what he feels would be best? (like does he want to move up to be challenged, or does he feel that he needs to stay there for more reassurance?)

Maybe he just knows slow and steady wins the race?
