Super Lowes

Isaak wears his Lowes Clinic apron backwards. He likes wearing it as a cape more than an apron.

I have to be careful; he'd go in the car that way.

Major choking hazard if we got in a wreck.

I said, "Isaak it's time to go bud."

Isaak said, "Don't call me Isaak. I'm Super Lowes."

The boys made light up Christmas Trains at Lowes Clinic. They've almost filled up their 2nd apron with badges.

Lowes Clinic

I mentioned on Facebook that we were going to the Lowes Clinic, and how we hadn't been in awhile.

My mom said, "What did they build?"

I said, "Science Kits."

I went on to mention, "Mica thought that maybe drinking out of the flask he'd turn green like the Hulk. What he didn't know is that he really turned greenish."

I went on to mention, "Isaak insisted on reading the science cards that came with the kit, but I don't know if he really read them, or just pretended to."

Lowes Clinic

We showed up to the Lowes Clinic this weekend. They had all these extra kits on the table.

You know how your eyes are bigger than your tummy at meal times? Well Isaak's eyes were bigger than his attention span.

He wanted to do 3 sets. Mica wanted to do 2.

Isaak is pretty dependent, and Mica is independent.

Luckily they were pretty easy projects. I have to say with Isaak's last 2 sets I earned the patches. Then when we got home I ironed on those 5 new patches. These are their 2nd aprons.

I had to take more than a few pictures. The sun is always in Isaak's eyes lately. Even in shady spots.

He Wanted to Do it Himself

We went to the Lowes Clinic this last weekend.

Isaak had to do everything on his own. I know he's growing up, but I still hold things when Mica pounds the nails in. I thought for sure Isaak would A) hit his little fingers with the hammer, or B) have more than one crooked nail. With Mica I can convince him to do things; let me help him. When Isaak has his mind set on something there's no changing it. Everything ended up being great. Isaak did it on his own.

Isaak doing it on his own.

The boys always walk out of the store with sound effects. This time it was fire truck noises. They drove their fire trucks down every beam they saw.

Old aprons on the front, new aprons on the back as super hero capes.

Morning Out

On Saturday I really wanted to take the boys out to do some things. We went to the Lowes Clinic. They were super excited to make planes!

Isaak really was off that day because his tummy hurt and leg hurt. I don't know what the deal was. He was limping. I believe that he really was in pain, but I didn't know what to do to help him. He didn't participate much in building his plane.

The boys got a new apron because they filled up their aprons two times ago. Instead of wearing just one, they wore one on the front as an apron, and the other on the back as a cape.

After that we went to Barnes and Noble. I had a coupon for Mica (the birthday boy) to get a fee cupcake, or cookies. Isaak wanted something to drink, so we got a Grapefruit Izzy to split. I just love bookstores. I know someday there won't be a bookstore, but I think they are great! We sat around, had our snack, read books and they played with the table train.

He Won't Let Me Take a Picture

I know every kid goes through phases where they just won't let you take their picture. That's Isaak right now.

Me, "Isaak let me take your picture." Isaak, "Ok Mom. You can take it now."

Me, "Boys let me take your picture." Boys, "Ok go ahead Mom." That's Isaak behind Mica.

Me, "Come on Isaak get in the picture!" Isaak, "Ok Mom. You can take the picture now." He's crawling out of the picture, and laughing.

At that point I was annoyed. Now I'm laughing about it.

By the way we're about out of room for new patches. Do we A) Ask for a new apron? or B) Get long sleeve shirts to iron on more patches?

They Rode a Camel

First off, I wanted to pre-post some stuff for the weekend. Like my "Sing, Sing a Song Saturday" post. It just didn't happen. It was a busy week last week!

Do you ever say, "Man I wish I had my camera?" That was me once this weekend.

This weekend we drove 5 hours to Moberly, Missouri to see Grandma and Grandpa Apel. It's near Columbia, Missouri.

I registered the boys and their cousin on that side to go to the Lowes Clinic. I thougth Grandpa would like to build a little something with them. The problem is, is that he can't stand in one spot for long. He's had back and knee problems. We didn't know if we should go, or not. We decided to go because the boys were stir crazy; meaning they needed something to do. Grandpa's answer, "No." turned into a, "Yes I'll join you."

It was rush, rush getting out of the house, so I neglected to grab my camera.

On our way back to their house. We stopped to give the boys a camel ride at a petting zoo.

We got crappy pictures from Daddy's cell phone. I wish I would have gotten good pictures of Grandpa helping the boys with their Lowes Clinic project and the camel ride.

I did happen to get the boys with Grandpa Apel later on. Grandma Apel was hiding in the kitchen.

Daddy had to close his eyes. When I went to take a 2nd shot, Isaak ran off.

A Pretty Low Key Day

I woke up this morning and couldn't swallow and could barely talk. The Urgent Care is becoming my best friend these days. Luckily Daddy's work is pretty dead this weekend. He's either really busy or slow. This is a slow weekend.

I sent him off to the Lowes Clinic with the boys. He's never taken them before. The boys haven't been there for awhile, so they were excited to go. It was mystery package. They ended up making a garage and mini car.

I sat and waited at the Urgent Care. I'm not one that wants to be medicated all the time, but man when I feel like crapola, and I can't even talk to my kids that's a problem in my mind. With the last cold I had I fought it off myself. I knew I didn't have Strep Throat. I had that after Thanksgiving; I just didn't feel the same way. She said, "Man you are swollen! No wonder why you can't breathe or swallow!" She wrote me a script for an antibiotic, but told me that she thought it was viral. I told her that I'd try the other things she told me to take first for a few days before getting the script filled. I got a nose spray, sudafed behind the counter, a cough syrup and more Ibuprofen because we just used up our bottle. I'm on more meds than I think I've been on for a long time.

After an extensive shopping trip at Walgreens, I finally got home. I can breathe now! That's a start! I went to do the Netti pot before taking this stuff, I was so plugged up that nothing would drain. Seriously 5 minutes over the sink, not a single drip! I'm a walking germ!

Mica said to me, "To make you feel relaxed, you could put in a movie for us. Then we'll be quiet for you!"

It's funny how kids turn things into being all about them. I made them wait. I'm not quick to let them veg in front of the TV. Finally I agreed to put something in. One wanted Doodlebops, and one wanted Land Before Time. Instead I picked their movie. They watched Despicable Me. They forgot my sister burned got it for them. It only plays on our external DVD player.

It was nice using a digital device as a babysitter for awhile. Afterwards Isaak went down for a nap and Mica read. A pretty low key day.

Lowes Clinic

I know I've blogged about the Lowes Clinic for Kids before. Kids get a free apron, a badge for a completed project, protection goggles (that they don't really need, but look fun), and a certificate.

We love it; except for the times when Mommy's finger gets nailed, or something gets nailed on the wrong way. Two times ago my finger got nailed; I got a blood blister. Last week two major parts got nailed on wrong.

See the side piece that holds the wings on? Yep those pieces got nailed on backwards. Mica was determined that they went on the way he put them on. I was silly enough to trust his instincts. He's so good with building. Then they had to rip them apart. We had to put them back together the right way. That's all part of it; learning!

So have you seen Rise of the Guardians? I haven't. Is it good? Mica's been playing it at recess; he hasn't even seen it yet.

The boys sometimes refuse to have their aprons tied. Isaak likes to wear his in the back. He says, "It's a super hero cape Mommy! I'm super hero Lowes Clinic!" Mica just doesn't want to mess with the tie.

Let me tell ya they get so excited for their new badge. I just iron that badge on with my flat iron. It works great!

They also fly around their toy for a long time. The check out person by the door smiled as we walked out of the store. Why? Because the boys were flying around their planes and making a whole lot of sound effects to go with it.

This Saturday they are building this:

Show up and you can probably build one to. They usually have extra kits; when their website says they are full.

WW: Ghoul Bus {Linky}

The boys made Ghoul Buses at the Lowe's Clinic. If you haven't gone to their clinics I strongly recommend checking them out! They get a project, apron and patch once they've completed the project. The best things are the bonding experience and the fact that it's free!

I loved that they made a Ghoul Bus because we have a book that goes along with the theme.

I got to iron on more patches. That's better than sewing them though. I use a hair straightener to iron them. It works perfectly.

Guess what we read when we got home from the clinic? The Haunted Ghoul Bus of course.

Do you like the pumpkin that Isaak picked out at the Pumpkin Patch? It's full of warts. Maybe we'll have to paint it up to look like a witch.

Since Halloween is right around the corner Mica is all about dressing up. In this one he doesn't have a mouth. The mouth is the mustache.

Fire Trucks

The boys and I made fire trucks at the Lowes Clinic yesterday morning.

Isaak kept looking away. This is the best shot I could get of them. Last week we made mini Chucky Cheese Skeeball games. The boys didn't get into making them, or playing them. I was happy to see them playing with their fire trucks yesterday and today.

Mica even named the people in the truck. One is "Uncle Eric". It looks nothing like him, but he is a fire fighter.

Now they have 9 patches. I had to iron on the one they got today. The best way to iron them on is to use my hair straightener. It gets right in those pockets.
