Lunch Tote Review #backtoschool

There's some things it seems we can never have enough in our house: Pillows, Good Water Bottles, Lunch Containers, and Lunch Totes. So I planned on just listing a few things, and ended up listing four things. What do you use a lot in your house?

Travis uses pillows all the time. I dropped a glass water bottle, and it shattered to pieces. There was a kid that threw something at another kid, and Mica's water bottle slammed to the floor. The straw section was all broken. Mica also lost a water bottle. Travis and I both work a lot, so we go through lunch containers. The lids always break before the containers do. We don't even wash them in the dishwasher. They just start to tear apart. The boys aren't into their younger kid lunch boxes/bags, so I'm trying to up their style a bit. Instead of cartoony things, we go simple these days.

I got an Amy Insulated Large Lunch Bag to review. It's perfect for going back to school!

It's big enough for two lunches, or one lunch and some drinks for the top.

This week I've taken lunches for Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and Friday was on it's own. I did throw in some drinks for today.

Colors:
  • Jean Blue $7.07
  • Red $12.99
  • Grey $6 (The color I got to review)
I'm not sure why they very so much in cost, but they do. They are all on Amazon Prime and can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/Insulated-Cooler-Double-Decker-School/dp/B0756ZSRD4/ref=sr_1_3?m=A1C4KMAOPNJ2JL&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1531831467&sr=1-3

Perks:
  • It's insulated well! That's good and bad. Good because things stay cold, bad because it's harder to just throw in the washer. It can be wiped out though.
  • I like the 2 big compartments. Over the weekend I make pretty big meals that carry us into the work week. I love taking 2 meals, and not have to deal with taking a meal for a day.
  • It's well designed. Meaning it looks nice!
Downfall:
  • The shoulder strap clasp is broke. It never worked. It just slips right out. I might as well throw it out, or only use the top handle. I was excited it had a shoulder strap. I'm often holding many things like my computer bag and groceries. It's nice to not have to hold a lunch bag too. I don't want my glass containers to fall and break though. I really don't think this is a problem with all their bags. Just this one. It could have been tested better before they shipped it out.

Overall I do like this lunch tote. I'm in love with the room it has! What do you like to carry your lunch in, or do you buy your lunch every day?

Tartek Kitchen Leak-proof Bento Lunch Box Review

I like cute lunch boxes. A tiffin is one of my favorites. Now I have a Bento Box made by Tartek. It's so cute! You can get it here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0775TBBDQ

This is dishwasher and microwave safe!

I will not put it in the dishwasher. I just think things like this last longer if I hand wash it.

As far as the microwaving goes it has stainless steel compartments that come out. The food can come out to be put in the BPA free plastic to be heated up, or you can put water in the BPA plastic to heat it up in the microwave to steam what's in each compartment.

The lid snaps shut!

I like the snap feature. I do think for kids it's hard to use. Certainly no problem for adults.

Travis did have the green seals come off in the sink when he washed it. They were hard to put back on.

Colors:

It comes in Light Blue and Mint Green.

Cost:

$25.95, which is fair for all the perks. Some may find that more than what they'd want to spend.

Isaak put this apple bag on his head and said, "I look like a lunch lady from school."

My Tiffin Lunch Box

Have you ever heard of a Tiffin Lunch Box?

I have, but only because I've had one for awhile. Prior to having it, I had never heard of one.

What is it?

It's a lunch box that is all different sections, that goes into 1 piece.

Like This:

I wanted to take a picture as soon as I popped it open. I haven't used my Tiffin in awhile. Usually I have one hot dish to warm up. There was one guy eating with me at work. He's not a social media guy at all. He wouldn't understand me taking a picture of my lunch. It is kind of strange when you think about it.

I waited to photograph my lunch when the anti social media guy left.

Here's My Partly Eaten Lunch:

What I Had:

Homemade Beer Bread- I've been making it a lot since my allergies don't like when I drink. Travis has done stupid things while drinking, so he doesn't drink anymore. We had so much alcohol left over from New Years. It's good beer too. I wish I could drink it!

Fruit and Veggies- A clementine, which is such a great proportion of fruit for one person, 3 radishes, and 3 celery strips.

Quinoa Salad- That section of Tiffin was full of that when I started my meal. I don't usually like Quinoa that much, but I do in this salad. - Recipe here. I made the salad for this weekends birthdays: My Dad and Nephew Elijah. The recipe is great for a lot of people. We were missing 5 of our usual people. Lots left over. I like that Quinoa is a protein. It tastes like a grain, but it isn't one.

I always like eating out of my Tiffin Lunch Box.

The Tiffin Lunch Box does remind me of an art supply. The art supply is a Metal Brush Washer.

Source

It took me forever to find that online! I had an instructor call it a Water Well. It's not that! I searched, "Water Well, Art Supply" - only actual water wells came up. I searched, "Tiffin, Art Supply" - only lunch boxes came up. I thought for sure it would have an actual name. Nope! Metal Brush Washer it is.

That cup looking thing with the holes goes into the washer upside down. Then you can get your brush clean, and the paint yuck water sinks to the bottom. The lid clips on to make it easy to travel with. It is super handy.

Do you think the Metal Brush Washer looks like the Tiffin?

Sharkleap 5-piece Stainless Steel Utensil Set Review

A few things that we really enjoy doing during the summer is camping, and going on picnics at parks. I happened to get Sharkleap 5-piece Stainless Steel Utensil Set to review.

What does it include?

  • A handy case that keeps everything together
  • A knife
  • A fork
  • 2 spoons
  • A reusable straw

Cost:

$19.99, and on sale for $8.95.

What to use it for:

  • Picnics
  • Camping
  • Fishing
  • Work
  • College Life
  • Field Trips (if you don't need disposable things)
  • Road Trips
  • Off Location Adventures

I think I want to turn around and get 7 more of these for birthdays in our family. My sister's kids love to camp to. It would be great if everyone of us could have a set!

The case is wonderful! The material is stretchy to ensure everything fits! I love the design that's on the outside of it.

Each Item is stainless steel. It's meant to last.

*The knife is sharp! When we go camping we often fire up a grill or fire pit, and have steak. This knife is perfect for that! It's better to get this set for ages 10 and up just because the knife is so sharp. The utensils are best to put in where the handles are by the zipper. Then you don't cut yourself.

I'm not sure if it needs two spoons, but it has them. I get why they have 2 spoons, or forks at fancy restaurants, but when you're roughing it you don't really need 2 spoons. It's good to have one for dinner, and one for dessert.

A stainless straw. This would be something not everyone would use. Travis hates straws, but the rest of us in our family like them. It has a wide opening, to make it easy to clean.

If I had to add something to this set I'd add a little scrub brush to clean everything.

I'd subtract one of the spoons.

What would you add, or subtract from this set?

Hydracentials Insulated Reusable Lunch Bag

I take my lunch every day, except for Saturday and Sunday to work. My bag was looking a little worn out. I've washed it, but through time things just start to look tired and old. I'm happy to have gotten Hydracentials Insulated Reusable Lunch Bag to review. It came just before school starts. It's a perfect back to school present for this teacher!
  I chose the black one:

It comes in purple and pink to:

About:
  • Size: 10.5 inches x L 9.5 inches H x 5 in D - Perfect to fit a lunch and an additional snack!
  • Insulated with PEVA to keep your contents hot or cold.
  • Material: 420D Polyester and PEVE Insulation
  • Cost: $19.97
Here's what it looks like with a container that has Chicken Cordon bleu, veggies, and a reusable bag with 1/2 a peach.

You can see that there is still plenty of room. I sometimes pack 2 lunches. My other lunch container wouldn't have room for 2 lunches. Now I can get buy with all that in there. There's certainly enough room for a lunch and a snack!

You can see the insulation in this photo. The white part is insulated. This makes it a great lunch box if you are traveling somewhere. Sometimes I set my lunch out in the morning, so I don't forget it. Well there is a time lapse. I don't need to worry about anything getting spoiled.

There are 2 zippers on it. It seems really sturdy.

An Eco Friendly Way to bring your lunch to school, work, or while you're on the go!

Do you take a lunch anywhere?

WEXY Lunch and Munch Bags Review

I have the wonderful chance to tell you about a product that I had previously never heard of before. I love learning about newish products on the market.

We use a lot of cloth sandwich bags in our house. Most of the time I try and use the fabric ones. We just wash them, and use them again.

At school they always want throw away lunches for field trips. With camp I tried to make things disposable as well.

WEXY Lunch and Munch Bags are snack bags that are:
  • Biodegradable
  • Disposable
  • Recylable
  • Reusable
  • Eco-Friendly
  • BPA Free
  • Meet FDA Standards
  • Made in the USA
I feel much better sending my kids to school with WEXY bags in their lunch! What's great is that they can throw them away, or bring them home to get washed and used again.

There are 28 bags total. Each bag has a monster on it. The monsters have names.

Meet Scout the Soccer Player, Sammy the Surfer and Bailey the Bubble Maker. There's also a red one that is called Dusty the Diver.

Sammy the Surfer is Isaak's favorite!

WEXY Lunch and Munch Bags are 5"x6". It's a perfect size for fruits, veggies, or any other snack. They were created here in the US by two Moms. Carie and Tracey believe in having a healthy lifestyle. They wanted something snack wise that their kids could take to camp, play dates, and more. WEXY doesn't have all the worries that other plastic bags have connected to them.

Where to Buy it?

You can buy it straight from WEXY on sale for $3.99.
Amazon sells them for $5.99.

Lunch

Mommy: "Mica what do you want for lunch?"

Mica: "I want Pork Tenderloin!"

Don't most kids want Mac n' Cheese and/or Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches?

Today We Washed the Cars

It's been so nice, so I decided it was time to wash the cars.

I had the boys help. Mica was ecstatic at first. He grabbed the hose, and couldn't wait to use it. Of course each kid got sprayed and each one asked to get sprayed. I happily sprayed them with water. Their clothes can get washed.

Everything was going great until Isaak found a stick on the ground. He started using it like a sword and was pretending to be a pirate. Mica then grabbed the trash can lid and pretended it was a shield. I ended up sending them inside. Off with the wet clothes and in went the Mikey Mouse Clubhouse Halloween DVD, while I quickly finished up.

We then headed over to Daddy's work to take him lunch. It was nice eating with him. On the way home I stopped by a park, so the boys could burn off some energy.

School Days

I know I've been talking about Mica and kindergarten a lot. It's what is new in our lives.

Today Mica wanted a cold lunch. He went to school and forgot to put his lunch with all the other cold lunches. Instead he put it by his feet at his table. He ate a hot lunch. Then his teacher realized Mica had a cold lunch when they went back into the classroom.
Mica's Lunchbox
When Daddy picked Mica up the teacher wanted to talk to him. She talked about how Mica is so great and is confident with art. Then she said how bad she felt with him missing his cold lunch! She's used to teaching first grade. Kindergarten is new to her as well. Kids and sometimes adults forget more when something is new or out of routine. I think that's pretty normal.

Daddy emailed the teacher Monday night to tell her that he fixed some numbers on Mica's paperwork. She emailed him back saying she was glad we got the paperwork back to the school so fast.

Then she went on to say that the first station they had at school was puzzles and building. We know Mica is strong in that area. He puts puzzles together like it's nothing. We got a defective USA puzzle from Melissa and Doug. They put in two Wyomings instead of a Colorado. It was a present to Cousin Evan. Aunt Terra called the company, and they sent her a free one! We in turn got the defective one. Mica pretty much knows where all the states go. If you ask him his capitols he knows them to. Transformers that I would have a problem putting together, is a breeze to him. According to the teacher, at school he was patiently helping the other kids. I've seen him be this way before. He helped Great Grandma Kent unwrap packages at Christmas last year. She has Alzheimer's disease and forgets a lot of things now. With Isaak, Mica doesn't really help him too much. Maybe it's because Isaak won't let him. Isaak went through the "I do it myself!" stage. Also he is particular about who helps him. I think Mica gave up a little with Isaak.

It sounds like Mica's doing good in school. Now if only we could build up his memory skills {remembering that his gym shoes are in his bag and that he brought a lunch ;)}! I imagine that during winter time, he'll misplace gloves frequently. I better stock up and should get my butt in gear with labeling Mica's stuff.

He still is very grumpy in the evening. It's just from being tired. We put him to bed early! Mica seems excited to go to school! He talks about his day when Daddy picks him up. I'm hoping it's just an adjustment thing that he'll get used to in a week or so.

*Side Note: I'm so happy I figured out how to have no background on my image! It was really easy!

Sleepy Kindergarten Boy

Mica couldn't even form full sentences tonight after school! Then when it was time for him to put his dishes up on the counter {a task he does all the time} he took them into the bathroom! I was doing my best not to laugh.

We put him to bed at 7:30 last night. Tonight he went down at 7:20. I sure hope he adjusts!

He had to skip gym because he didn't have tennis shoes on. I put tennis shoes in his backpack with socks. He forgot. The teacher didn't check.

His milk wasn't touched. He said he couldn't figure out how to open it, and forgot to drink it. He at least remembered to keep the cloth sandwich bags. I feared he would accidentally trash them. I told him not to. He did good.

When we ask him how school was right after school? He has all good things to say.

Daddy even spotted a girl giving Mica a hug goodbye today! ;)

Lunch Anyone?

  • Go Graham Go has a fun giveaway going on right now. It's to win a Packit lunch bag.
  • This lunch bag is cool! Cool in style and the fact that it is an icepack as well.

  • One thing I've noticed with being a parent, whatever my kids are into I'm into as well. Right now both boy's are into robots!
  • A few years ago Mica was into peacocks {odd for a boy, but that's what he liked}. I bought a peacock shirt for myself. I also found a peacock puppet for him. You'll get a chance to meet this puppet and see a peacock drawing that Mica drew for me on my Wordless Wednesday this week. ;)
  • They also liked trains and still do. I've found train shirts that are fun in the past. They have lots of Thomas stuff too.
  • Isaak's into puppies. We've gotten him some puppy things.
  • Now both boy's are into robots. For Easter both boy's are getting some robot things.
  • With Mica starting school in the fall, this robot lunch bag would be a great birthday gift!
