Sing, Sing a Song Saturday

I started doing what I call Sing, Sing a Song Saturday.  I'm going to post one song on Saturdays that the boys or I like.

The song may be part of a movie, a kid's video or just a song we like. It may or may not include words. I'll try and include why we like it and/or the history of the song/singer.

I had a few French bands picked out and was kind of tug of waring with myself as to what to feature this week. Then I happened to stumble across one of the prettiest voices I've heard in a long time.

He doesn't have any albums that I know of. Amanuael Visser was born in Ethiopia and was adopted and raised in Byron Bay. He sang from the moment his parents got him; when he was 18 months old.  Then when he was 10 he tried out for a talent show in Sydney.

He doesn't dance or write his own music, but man the boy can sing! I've never heard a little boy be able to belt out a Whitney Huston song and not miss a note!

Did I mention he sings opera to?

WW: The Plunge {Linky}

The boys didn't want to take a bath. I know playing with Lego's is much more fun than bath time.

I had Daddy dig out the spa mat. I figured it would make bath time much more appealing. They loved it! Mica was first and he kept say, "Isaak come look at this thing!" Isaak said, "WOW I can't wait to take a bath now!"

I didn't get the camera out until Isaak jumped in. His expressions are priceless.

Truth, Lies and Laughs

I took the day off today. Daddy had to go set up for an art exhibit.

Truth

Isaak's a grouch when he wakes up from his nap. Any time he has a break down it's right after nap time. Isaak and I walked Mica up to school. Towards the end of the day I bundled Isaak up like a brown bear. We were off to go pick up Mica. We were two houses down and he started crying because Daddy drives to pick up Mica, Mommy didn't drive. I walked. He cried and I'm sure the whole neighborhood heard him. The only way I could get the punk to stop crying was by telling him, "Listen when we get up to the school do you want everyone staring at us? They are going to stare at us if you are screaming like that." Then I tried to divert his attention to something else. I told him, "I don't know my ABC's can you help me?" I said them in all kind of mixed up orders and he was laughing at me. I was able to divert my stubborn child.

Lies

Tonight Daddy sat down after his road trip, and a used Kleenex was in his spot. Daddy said, "Who's is this?" It wasn't Mica's, it wasn't mine and I pretty much knew it was Isaak's. He claimed it wasn't his either. He flat out said, "It's not mine." Daddy said, "Isaak have you blown your nose anytime today?" Isaak said, "I blew my noses lots of times today." Yep Isaak much have more than one nose. ;) He went through the same questioning with the rest of us and Mica and I were like, "Nope." Daddy said, "You know what? I'm just going to throw this thing away. Try and not leave Kleenexes laying around." Isaak said giggling, "It's mine." It was as if he was playing us. Totally something I would have done. I don't know if it's lying or just being silly. He came clean right away afterward. He was giddy giggling about it.

Laughs

The phone rang. We've gotten so many political calls. Everyone hears me bit** about the calls. Mica said, "I'll get it." Now usually he's really good on the phone. Tonight he answered it and said, "Hello". It was some kind of recording, so he hung up right away. He said, "I'm not going to talk to someone that won't tell me their name. I hate that." I just had a good laugh over that one.

Scappenger Hunt

Yesterday when I was making dinner Isaak wanted me to go on what he called a "Scappenger Hunt". Otherwise known as a Scavenger Hunt.

He said, "Mom I'm going to hide my toys like a scappenger hunt. Then you can find them!" He was all excited.

How dare I say, "No." I just said, "I will find your stuff in 5 minutes. You go hide your toys now."

It was stuff like this:

Taken from this blog post.

I finished my dinner duties and was off to find random toys. They were all in one spot; behind his bedroom door in a box. :)

Bathroom Faux Pas

If you don't like bathroom stories about kids don't read this.

If you want a good laugh, read it.

Grandpa Spiehs picked the boys up from preschool one day this week. He got Cousin Elijah and Isaak in the car. They were in their car seats and buckled.

Isaak said: I have to go poop!

Grandpa said: Can it wait until we get home, or do you have to go now?

Isaak said: I have to go now!

Out the boys go. Back into the church.

A church lady was coming out and said: Oh did you guys forget something?

Elijah said while throwing his arms in the air: Isaak has to poop!

In the bathroom they went. Isaak was in the stall, while Grandpa and Elijah were in the bathroom waiting.

Isaak cried frantically because he thought Grandpa left him.

When he was done Grandpa wiped him. It was a messy one. He needed help.

Grandpa went to wash his hands right away.

Elijah was holding the door open and said: Come on Isaak I want to get out of here.

Isaak (with his pants not pulled up) hops out of the bathroom.

Grandpa went out of the bathroom to escort the 1/2 naked boy back in to pull his pants up.

Isaak and Elijah were now outside the bathroom and Grandpa still had to finish washing his hands.

Isaak cried frantically once again about Grandpa leaving him.

I think they drew enough attention, don't you?

I hope no one got a peep show.

The Cosby Show

Who watched the Cosby Show?

Source
I did. So much so that I wanted my boys to see it. I bought their best hits on DVD. Mica cracks up when he watches it. Proof that it's timeless.

We were sitting around the dinner table. Daddy was talking all big. Meaning deeper than what the boys could understand. Isaak kept interrupting him. He went napless and was kind of being a punk. Daddy was getting frustrated. Mica sort of shook his head up and down like he understood what Daddy was talking about. I knew he didn't.

I leaned over to Mica and whispered: Daddy's a nerd.

Mica said loudly: Mommy said you are a nerd.

I said: I nerd that we love so much.

Mica started cracking up, which lead us all to laugh.

Then Mica said: Our family is so funny! We're like the Cosby Show, only we're white.

This week I've been listening to Asa (pronounced Asha).

She's from Lagos, Nigeria. She listened to her father's collection of records from soul to tradtional Nigerian music. Some of her favorites are Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley and Lauryn Hill just to name a some. She fuses pop, r&b, world , funk, soul and reggae.

I really got into listening to her music. I was about to post some of my favorite tunes by her; only to find that she disabled most of her songs for embedding. That mean I can't post many of her songs. I don't really blame her for disabling them. It just stinks because I can't share with you what I listened to. :(

Some of her stuff isn't disabled. :)

Trick or Treat Smell Their Feet

Isaak's all about running from the camera these days. Mica's all about posing.

I've posted their costumes on here before. There was the Y Superhero Party and they just randomly wanted to wear their costumes every so often. I bought them last year after Halloween. I should do that again, but I've probably missed the after Halloween specials by now. I've just been too busy.

Here they are on the night of Halloween:

Some of my other nephew's were Batman as well. Emerson wore his Batman costume into surgery on Halloween. Terra had an outfit underneath that said, "Is this a trick or a treat?" Very fitting. He got a bigger G Tube to make feeding him easier, a pick line port to put his chemo in. He got his first chemo drugs. He was cranky and has been throwing up. Let's hope he does well. Halloween wasn't so enjoyable for them. Their Daddy took their big boys, both as Batman out Trick or Treating.

Mica and Isaak had fun. A few neighbors handed them over full sized sodas, or pops (whatever you call it) and full sized candy bars. CRAZY! Isaak was scared of any scary house. Mica claims he doesn't get scared of anything.

Both boys enjoyed splitting up their candy so much. In fact Isaak asked to, "Play that game again." What he wanted to do was to split up his candy again. Daddy and I were both like, "It's already split up Isaak." Isaak didn't want to eat candy because it would be out of his stash. He's a hoarder. LOL Mica on the other hand is always hungry for ANYTHING! He asks for candy morning, day and night.

BTW I'm not looking forward to Daylight Savings Time. It sucks! I hate Daylight savings time! The boys have been needing to go to bed early. Isaak won't nap lately. No nap = PUNK ATTITUDE! When I'm fed up, I'm fed up. Off to bed you go!

Halloween at Art Schools

First off if you didn't check out my fruit turkey post, you have to. Yes I'm in a bossy mood. HA HA Not really. I just think they turned out cute.

I've been to two art schools and worked at one. One thing I know is that Halloween is important to a lot of art students. So important that when they are all dressed up they pay little attention to working on school work all day long. I too get a little restless. I guess I can't blame them.

I work with a few lame butts coworkers that don't dress up. Really I like them most of the time. When most everyone is dressed up and having fun; the ones that don't dress up really stand out. I should back up and say that not all non dresser upers are lame. It's just that if you worked in a place where Halloween was prize worthy and everyone got into it, have fun, dress up. It doesn't have to be a scary and evil costume; like my husband thinks it needs to be. It can just be fun.

For the record I'm lame when it comes to football season. Almost everyone talks about it and I could give a rats butt. I'm not perfect either. I don't join in on that party.

Here's what I was:

There's my FANtastic fan. I made lots of Candy Sushi! Two rows in a 9x12 glass dish and that cutting board was filled to. from 9:30 to 11 it was all gone! My college students were hungry! Their moms and dads don't give them enough care packages evidently. The cutting board my uncle made. Cool right?! I just word a red shirt, black pants, red flip flops, bought an Asian robe and an Asian wig. It beat the close to $100 costume I saw online. I wish I could have spent a lot longer on my make-up. It was much harder than I thought! I won first place for faculty regardless.

I liked this simple costume of Mr. Clean. He works with me. It worked.

Here are some of the students dressed up like loofah's. I love homemade or self put together costumes!

It's hard to tell, but this girl made her costume! It looked like a mascot. It had a lot of detail and it squeaked.

This guy rocked. He's a green plastic army guy. He even made a stand! I just wish he painted his neck green.

Here's a group shot of student winners. A girl that was Medusa, she had fake plastic snakes in her hair. She's the one with green hair. That guy in the purpleish mask was a Joker. He bought the mask in New Orleans. The guy in the pink skirt was a tooth fairy; it said so on his shirt. There is an Opera Singer in the back. The guy with the box on his head is himself. It's a cartoon version of himself. There's Pebbles and Bam Bam in there. Well there's more.

Little school work was done that day! We had fun regardless. I got way over stimulated. When I got home to hyper kids that couldn't wait to go trick or treating I felt done in. I was happy to stay in and hand out candy. Daddy took the boys out and about.
