NeoCell Beauty Bursts Review

I once had a sample at Whole Foods for NeoCell Beauty Bursts. It was so good! NeoCell recently sent me a package to review.

NeoCell Beauty Bursts promotes beautiful and radiant skin. It's not like a daily vitamin. This stuff is delicious! I got the Fresh Mint Chocolate flavor. They do come in a few different flavors: Super Fruit Punch and Brazilian Acai Berry. They are chewy and soft.

They are gourmet collagen chews that deliver a host of beauty-enhancing nutrients, including NeoCell collagen types 1 & 3, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C. It does not contain soy, wheat, lactose, palm oil, starch, yeast, or artificial flavors. It does contain rice syrup and dried cane syrup.

Take an inside-out approach to beauty with NeoCell collagen and help skin achieve that healthy glow, hair grow thicker and shinier and nails that are longer, stronger and less brittle. My hair and skin can be brittle, so that's why I was interested in NeoCell Beauty Bursts.

I've seen them cheaper when they are on sale at the stores. You can have 2 to 4 chews a day.

Happy Fathers Day and First Day of Summer a Day Late

Yesterday was pretty busy. I didn't get a lot of time to blog. I did respond to my crazy amount of Facebook Happy Birthday messages though. 

My sister's, mom, day, and I went out to breakfast on Saturday. It was to celebrate Father's Day and my birthday. 

On Sunday we went to Jurassic World at 10. Tip: If you never go to movies in the morning, try it out. It was only $5 for each of us to get in. Recliner seats and all! What I loved the most was that the theater wasn't crazy busy!

Mica's still talking about the movie, "Mom, who was your favorite dinosaur?" "Dad, did (insert dinosaur's name here) die the way you thought he would?" I don't want to give the movie away. He's also been building dinosaurs out of Legos, and checking out Jurassic Park Lego sets in his Lego magazine. When he gets on something it's constant.

Isaak only stayed in his recliner seat for 1/4 of the movie. He ended up cuddling with me. He got scared. It's odd because he watched all 3 previous movies at home with us, and didn't seem scared. It's ok I enjoyed the cuddle time.

What Else We Did:

• We went out to dinner at The Olive Garden. That kind of food doesn't always do the best with me, but it was my birthday, and Father's Day, so one time of the year - I made an exception.


• I made raspberry lemonade cupcakes for my co-workers. We always bring in treats for birthdays.


• We went to 2 places checking out prices for cell phones. I think that made me more nervous than picking out a car for some reason. I still don't have a Smart phone. I want to go to 1 more place before we decide what we're going to get. It's more about who we're going to get it from than what we're getting. Our current place - US Cellular wants to charge us more than Verizon, and put us in another contract, which Verizon wouldn't. That's what we're researching. The sale's people talk a bunch of talk I just don't understand. I have to say that Verizon kind of laid it out on the table with a sheet for us to look at, as to where US Cellular kept adding things, saying if I got a land line back again it would be cheaper. I'm like What?! I'll be getting a Smart Phone soonish. But I'm afraid US Cellular will be out.


• We played Skip-Bo. That has to be one of my favorite card games right now. Isaak won, so he was happy.

• Mica and I took turns reading Fried Green Tomatoes in the car. He needs to work on his Southern accent. I think I got it down pretty good from living in Georgia for 3 years. ;) Of course I can't fast forward a book, so they started talking about sex (nothing to explicit). I was ready to have a conversation if needed. We must have bored Isaak, he fell asleep.

•  Mica wrote a skit for Dad, and Isaak wrote a skit for me. We got to watch 2 short plays. 

• Isaak made a card for Dad, and a bracelet for me. 

• Dad got me 2 boxes of Cheez-It Grooves, since I teased them about eating all my Cheez-It's. The cell phone is more my gift.

My Name is Not Elise

My name is Alissa. It rhymes with Melissa. For some reason people in older generations can not get my name right. The old lady that lived next door when we bought our house called me, "Elise". I corrected her the first 5 times, then decided if she wanted to call me, "Elise" that was fine. Really how often did I see her? Not very often. 

It turns out it's not just an older generation thing. Mica has some really good friends from Ethiopia. They are such nice people. All of them call me, "Elise". Their oldest son loves Travis. Travis helps him at the Lowes Clinic at times. Their middle child loves Mica. He's in Mica's class. They chat all the time about this and that. Travis and I have joked about how they have a bromance. Their youngest adores me. She drew me a picture, and gave it to me the last time we saw them.

They've had us over for dinner a few times. Generous indeed. It's not necessary to have us all over, but they do. It's part of their culture. I invite them to go to Lowes Clinic, we've had them over once, and recently we invited them to go to an arboretum. 

When we got to the arboretum the kids ran and ran. I'm ok with that. That's what parks and arboretums are for. Isaak got left behind, so I was waiting for him. He went to jump over a stream, and landed in the water. Then he was all tears. Isaak: "Daddy's going to be mad at me! It looks like I peed my pants..." When Isaak starts in on his whine, good luck ending it. I told him that he was not in trouble because it was an accident. I still heard about it. The Mom seemed genuinely concerned about Isaak. 

Later on their middle child got dirty. The Mom said, "I just washed those. Oh no!" I said, "Kids will be kids." 

The Mom got bit a few times by a mosquito. She freaked out and said, "Oh no am I going to be ok?" She grabbed my bug spray and said, "Can you squirt this on me?" I squirted it on her. While I was doing that I thought...This is going to do nothing to help your bites. It's to prevent bites. Then I thought...The Placebo Effect. If it makes her feel better by having me spray bug spray on her after she's already been bitten great. When I got home Travis said, "You mean to tell me you didn't tell her what bug spray is for?" I said, "No. The thought of telling her what bug spray is for didn't even cross my mind. All I thought about was that it was making her feel better." 

That's not the first out there thing that's happened. During the winter Travis went to pick up the boys. He passed their middle child - Mica's best friend on the sidewalk. Travis said, "Hi how are you doing?" He replied, "Fine." After Travis picked up the boys, Mica's friend was still standing in the same spot on the sidewalk. Travis asked, "Is something wrong?" Mica's friend said, "My mom doesn't want me to get snow in the car. The 3 or 4 foot grass patch had snow on it, and it was in front of their car. Instead of telling them that snow is just water, and that it wouldn't hurt their car Travis walked off not really knowing what to say, or do. Travis said to me, "If Mica's friend wasn't so heavy I would have picked him up over the snow, and put him in the car. But he's too heavy for me to do that." 

These kind people need us to tell them what's up...I'm thinking. Hanging out with someone from a different culture is all new to me. I've worked with people from other places, but never hung out with them.  I did have a grandma from the Philippines. She did things different than my inner family did. I just let it be. She was older than me. I was a kid. I hope if I tell them how things work they don't get offended.

• I should let them know again that my name is not Elise. I get their different names right - they should get mine right to. 

• I should let them know that I love hanging out with them. That it's not common to hang out as families in the US. Part of friends getting together is to give the parent(s) a break from that child for a few hours. 

• It's ok for kids to get dirty. Yes it's more laundry, but kids are kids. 

• Bug spray is to prevent bug bites; not to heal them. 

• Snow is messy, but fine for a car. It's simply frozen water. If you don't want it in the car, put plastic bags or towels down to collect the moisture. You can't really get away from it.

I'm sure if I lived somewhere different than the US I'd need a little help understanding how things work. BTW this post is no way making fun of Mica's friends. I enjoy them. They have kind of an innocence that we don't have here. Much of what I like about them is what I'd be correcting them on. That's part of why it's so difficult to correct them.

Out of the Box Saturday

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday is now Out of the Box Saturday. It's all about me discovering something that is different. I don't want to post things that you and I have more than likely heard before. I want to find something different. I'll cover something sing | songy one week, and artsy | fartsy the next.

This week I'm covering something artsy. Igor Morski is a Polish illustrator,  graphic designer, illustrator and set designer. Presently, he focuses on mixed media graphic art, based manly on photo manipulation, drawing, recently also 3D.

His work has a surrealist feel to it to me. 

He is the co-owner of Morski Stuido's.

Ranom Tid Bits

1. My birthday, Father's Day, and the first day of summer all happen on the same day this year. I'm going out for breakfast with my sister's, mom and dad on Saturday to celebrate my birthday and Father's Day. Then on the 21st we'll stop by to see my dad more than likely, we're going to Jurassic World, and going out to Olive Garden for dinner.
   
   When Travis told me about Father's Day landing on my birthday I teased him and said, "I guess we'll have to figure out which one is more important to celebrate that." He's like, "What?" I was only kidding. I think Jurassic World and Olive Garden will make everyone happy. The boys hardly get scared with movies. It's not like I let them watch horror flicks. I don't need to worry about them getting freaked out with a little Jurassic madness.


2.  One night this week we picked a lot of peas. Travis planted them, so it was our job to pick them. I didn't realize he made an agreement with the neighbors that they could have a bag of peas if they let their lawn guy know not to weed eat the fence. Once I picked them we had to take them all out of the pods. It took all evening.
   
   
   
   
   Maybe this sounds selfish of me, but I wasn't happy to share them. Part of me wanted to go to the store, buy them a bag of peas and say, "Here's your bag of peas." At least I wouldn't have spent tons of time on those. It would be one thing if we were really close to them. We're not. All the sudden I sounded like a selfish bit_h.
    
   I'm all for sharing with my friends, family and co-workers. I've given a ton of homemade jam to people in the past. I make people cookies. They scratch my back, and I scratch theirs. I have acted good towards strangers. I let people go in front of me in line a lot, and put carts away that are randomly in the parking lot. Letting people go in front of me, and putting carts away doesn't take all evening. Not to mention all the time it took to plant those suckers. Overall I'm not a person that likes to share. I always hated as a kid to let my sister pick at my food when we went out to eat (she always does that). I dislike going in on gifts because sometimes I don't get paid back. I'd rather just go get someone something on my own. I love trying to find the perfect gift for a kid. Are you a person that likes to share?


3. Speaking of jam I'm disappointed in our June Berries this year. I usually pick 4 quart bags full of them. This year I didn't even get 1 full one. I think berries don't do well with a ton of rain. We've had a lot of that this year.


4. I'm getting my hair cut today. YAY! I like my hair shortish, but Travis likes it longer. It's my birthday weekend, so I'm cutting it. 


5. Isaak and Mica are still enjoying their fun summer school. I'm really glad we signed them up for it. They love their classes, and argue with me about how it isn't school. It's too fun to be school I guess. They have pretty full classes except for 1 of Mica's. There's only Mica and 1 other kid in one of his classes. 

Working...Working...Working

I haven't blogged all week. Any post that has gone up was scheduled. 
 
What have I been doing?

I've been working on a poster for work. I didn't draw the characters. I'm taking watercolor and salt textures, and adding them, color, shading, highlights, and details in the computer.

It was fun the first 2 days. In fact I worked at home, while we watched a movie. Then my boss handed me all the body drawings for all the characters. Now I have to figure out how to do that to. I'll be coloring in the computer for awhile I'm afraid.

Never mind the guide lines on the sides. They are not part of the poster. It's just where the poster is being cropped. I have so many layers that it wouldn't save. I had to merge some layers together. The background will be dark, like a galaxy.

Some of the characters I like, while others I just don't care for. The frog wizard looks nothing like a frog to me. I had to do a lot of work on those eyes! The bird is fun. You can't see it here, but each salt circle has a green stroke around it. It took an insane amount of time.

I still have the girl, the horse, and the background to finish up. Then it's moving on to saving them all separate, and adding their bodies. Oh that would have been easier to have their bodies when I started this project. 

If I seem absent this, along with working on my stairwell is more than likely what I'm doing.

WW: Dixie Quicks & Art {Linky}

On Sunday we went out for breakfast. I've been to the local restaurant Dixie Quicks before for dinner, but not for breakfast. 

The boys wanted French Toast. We got them their French Toast, a cup of fruit to split, and juice. We hardly go out for breakfast. I never expected this:

Isaak ate half of his. Mica ate the whole plate of French Toast. Between the French Toast and full glass of juice I'm pretty sure they ate and drank their yearly calorie consumption.

I had the Asparagus and Proscuitto Omelet. Travis had Cactus scrambled with eggs, black beans, and tortitas.

The food was so good!

The whole reason we went to Dixie Quicks was to visit The Dog Show - By Adopt Art Omaha. A variety of artists were given wooden dogs, and they could decorate them any way they wanted. RNG Gallery is where the dogs were displayed. The gallery is attached to Dixie Quicks. It's the only time all the dogs were together. After the show the dogs will be put on a scavenger hunt in the local area. The mission of Adopt Art Omaha is to encourage an appreciation and understanding of art in Nebraska and beyond.

I worked on 4 of the dogs. I'm not really a dog person, but it was fun to work on them. On all of them I tried to use found objects, paint and glue.

Happy 45th

My parents had their 45th wedding anniversary this weekend. My oldest sister said, "I need your help cutting some bushes. I'll fix you dinner."
 
Then we all surprised them by having dinner. 
 
We even invited my Grandpa, and Aunt Becky (which both come to a lot of events). We all parked a ways away, so they couldn't tell we were there.

The boys hid in the hallway to jump out at them. My Mom had Polio, so they don't walk super fast up the steps. The boys were like, "Come on Grandma and Grandpa!"

 

They were surprised. My Dad said, "Man I wore crappy clothes because I thought I was doing yard work."

Even the youngest in the clan was in on the surprise. 

The cake was a big part of our conversation. I guess a 7" was $20, and an 8" cake was $55! WTH!? They went with a 7", cheap cupcakes for the kids, and a pineapple upside down cake for the groom's cake.

Everyone seemed to have fun. The bigger boys kept busy. I had to laugh because I went outside to pack the car up, and there they all were. They looked like they were getting ready to play football. 

Upon further investigation I saw that they were huddled around their cousin Evan who was playing a Jurassic Park game.

Out of the Box Saturday

This week I'm covering something songy. Ane Brun has a very big following on YouTube. I had never heard of her. Ane Brunvoll is the daughter of lawyer Knut Anker Brunvoll and jazz singer and pianist Inger Johanne Brunvoll. She grew up in a musical family. 

Ane Brun is a Norwegian international songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist. Since 2003 she has recorded eight albums, six of which are studio albums and one live DVD. She writes, records, and runs her own label (Balloon Ranger Recordings).

Random Tid Bits

1. I like to think about where I'm at, at all times to figure out if I need anything in the area. I hate having to go back out to get this or that at the store. Especially since every major street in Omaha has construction going on right now.
   
   Travis isn't like that. He only gets what he's thinking at the moment.
   
   He called me at work to ask me, "Alissa I'm at the hardware store is there anything you or we need there?" I said, "Yep! Next door is the grocery store. We need eggs." He said, "I'm not going there."
   
   Are you a get everything you can, while you're out kind of person like me? OR Are you a get only what's on your mind kind of person like my husband is?


2. Over the summer I take a 1/2 hour lunch, so I can leave at 2:30 on Fridays. Woo hoo! It's less time to do things over lunch, but sweet on Fridays.


3. Mica still says, "Mom can we look this up on AmIison?" I capitalized the I because he pronounces that letter in the word stronger. What is he trying to say? Amazon. 


4. Last week the boys went to their first camp. They had to have cold lunches all week. I decided that I was going to cut up enough veggies for 3 days. Travis said, "Why are you wanting me to get out 6 sandwich bags? I said, "So we have enough for at least 3 days for them. I don't want to cut stuff up for any more days than that." He said, "You have 6 bags, not 3." I said, "3 x 2 = What?" He just didn't get that we have 2 kids. Finally it sunk into his brain. I had to chuckle because he's so much better with numbers and math than I am.
