Post Workout Snacks and Breakfast

I workout in the morning before breakfast. I do leg lifts, lift weights, and climb up and down the stairs.

I try and get in a healthy breakfast for my family. It's important to me, since I just got done working out. For my kids it's important because breakfast at home is a snack to them. They eat a little at home very early, and more at school later. I'm just not sure how healthy school food is.

We eat a protein of some kind to get us going, steams greens, a small carb, and fruit.

Recently I made Cranberry Protein Bites. They are great for post workout healthy sacks, or breakfast.

They are super easy to make! I used sunflower seed butter, but any nut butter will do. You can even buy your own nuts and make your own nut butter.

I use local honey.

I love adding Chia Seeds to boost fiber in my snacks and breakfasts.

Other snack or breakfast ideas for post workouts are:

Breakfast Cookies

Oatmeal Super Food Power Bars

All these snacks or breakfast items are easy to make. They are all rich in protein.

Oh good! Thanks for the idea. I really must put more effort in taking in more real, whole foods. I'm sure hubby will enjoy these pre and post workout too :)

Those sure look good. I am sitting here at four in the morning eating fried potatoes and now I am dissatisfied with the potatoes!

I definitely do not get enough protein in my diet, so these sound like an awesome way to get it in there.

I will have to try these to see if Cort would like them. He has a bunch of food sensitivities now and is limited in what he can eat. But he could eat these.

Love these ideas! I need something easy to grab on my way out of the house at 5:45am for my 6:15am workout. I definitely plan to make the cranberry balls & cookies over the weekend to prep :)

These sound really good. I've never made my own protein bars or bites before, but it sounds like it's about time I did.
