Random Tid Bits

  1. I spent much of the day last Saturday making roll out sugar cookies. I went to put them in the deep freezer, and dropped the tin. I may of yelled out, "Oh fudge!" only I didn't say "fudge"! At least I yelled that downstairs, when everyone else was upstairs.

  2. I have a really difficult group of students this year in 2 of my classes. I'm hoping it's just this class, and not a generation thing. Please tell me this too shall pass!

-Most of them have no sense of urgency.

-They don't have that inner need to compete.

-Most of them don't come talk to me, or try and get caught up if and when they are gone.

-Many of them can't take criticism. I had one girl tell me that it hurt her feeling to be critiqued. Any field in the arts you have to develop a thick skin. For some reason it was a big deal this week. I tell them what's good, and what's not working. I never bash a piece - and that's it.

  3. Mica's teacher was on the news this week. Her daughter was shot 3 times: Twice in the back, and once in the neck. The 2nd shot she played dead. The shooter killed his ex and his ex's 2 year old daughter, and 3 other people. It just so happens that Mica's teacher's 21 year old daughter is in critical, yet stable condition. I'd like to do something for her, but I don't know what. Christmas time is coming up, so I was going to do something then. Mica told her he is sorry to hear about her daughter.

  4. It really bothers me when a blogger has a giveaway up, it ends, and it's there for a week or 2 before they pick a winner. I'm not referring to any regular bloggers that comment on here.

  5. There's a garden nursery here that has real reindeer. I'm taking my boys there this weekend.

Say it ain't so! Not the dreaded "f bomb." I guess even ladies get frustrated sometimes. ;-)

I'd love to visit real reindeer this time of year!
Students these days seem to be much lazier all around. I think it's a generational thing, sadly.
I sometimes take a bit of time to draw winners because I like to do them in batches. It's just easier for me to do it that way. Sometimes it weeds out non followers too. It took me a week to draw one once and I noticed that the girl unfollowed me a few days earlier. She missed out on the prize since she wasn't following when I made the draw. Call me a jerk, but I get happy when I see my regular readers or giveaway entrants winning my giveaways.

I just pictured you saying "oh fudge" the way Ralphie did in a Christmas Story.

I am so sorry to hear about your teacher's daughter. :( What is going on with so many shootings now? It's beyond horrible at this point.

We are going to do something Christmasy today too, though I'm not sure what. We'll see. :)

Oh no I'm sorry to hear about the shooting too. Even for me living abroad, it's frustrating to know that there's so many going on in your country :((( Stay safe always xo
