A New Cut #haircut

We have back to school part two. So far the boys have been strictly virtual learning. Now they are starting to go back part time. Isaak starts tomorrow, and Mica will start in a few weeks.

I'm sort of nervous, but it is what it is. Mainly nervous because Nebraska's cases keep going up. Another part of me is thinking...how long should be halt life? This whole pandemic has been tug of war in my brain, since it started.

As it is, my oldest two nephews had to take COVID tests recently. Do they have it? They haven't gotten the results back. Now my oldest sister has whatever my nephew has. It's horrible to not know if something is allergies, a cold, or COVID.

My youngest sister never has her kids go anywhere. They are more like mine. Home bodies. I don't blame them - having two kids with special needs. One being a brand new baby.

There's talk about our boy's district going back to online learning only, with the cases on the rise. So far it's a go.

Isaak's hair was looking pretty shaggy. I don't mind shag, but he hates it.

HavenJanny Hair Clippers:

Luckily I got a clipper set to review. Boom...one less place to go. Travis isn't bad at cutting hair, but he dropped his last cutter, so it was totally not working.

First off the set had a lot of extras, which was nice. BUT they only had a few blades. Travis is used to more. Blade from his other set fit though. YAY! If you want a lot of blade options there isn't a lot in this set.

There were English and Chinese directions, but the English seemed broken up.

It came charged at 100%, but to be honest it kept shorting out. It was pretty much useless, due to the shorting out. A motor has to work. YO! One positive thing...it was quiet. Travis is used to a noisy clipper.

Where to get it:

Isaak was super excited about his hair. He would have wanted some major fancy lines put in it. Travis was like, "Um no. I'm just not doing all that." For a pandemic cut, it looks just fine.

Have you gone to get your haircut, since the pandemic started? I haven't.

Haircuts

It's been awhile, since I've blogged about us.

Both boys have gotten a haircut. Mica got a lot off. I thought it would feel much better before their outdoor camp. Isaak we didn't get his cut until after it though. Isaak wouldn't let me take pictures. He's in a non picture taking phase.

Travis cut Isaak's hair. It stayed the same length on the top, and shorter on the sides and back.

Of course Mica's hair looks much better styled, but it hasn't been styled, since the day he got it cut.

Both boys love their new hairdo's.

Mica in particular has a lot of cowlicks in the front of his hair. His bangs grow in at a major diagonal angle. When it's really short it looks like someone didn't know what they were doing when they cut it. I love that the hairdresser left his front a little longer.

I need a haircut as well, but I can't decide if I want to trim it, or chop it. I know it's just hair, it will got back, but my hair is slow to grow. I have to say that it looks better short, but I love being able to put it up. Decisions!

WW: Haircuts {Linky}

Mica kept saying that he wanted his hair cut. We didn't want to spend money on haircuts, so Dad cut their hair. He actually does really well with cutting hair. Much better than some of the people at Great Clips!

We've tried trash bags over them with a hole for their heads as a smock, but they get hot, and sticky. We didn't use anything this time. The hairs tickled their arms, chests and bellies. Maybe I need to take an old sheet, cut a hole in that for their heads, and use it for a smock.

Isaak really has trouble holding still. He giggles the whole time.

The hardest part about cutting his hair, is all the cowlicks in the back.

Mica had the biggest mop. His hair went down to this eyebrows, and past his ears.

The hard part when cutting his hair is how thick it is, and that his bangs grow in crooked. I've come back from getting his hair cut before, and it looks like someone had their scissors slanted.

Dad did a good job! I only have photos of the process, not the final results.

It Took Him Four Years

Earlier this week I said, "Travis can you trim Isaak's toe nails?" He hesitated like he didn't want to do it and then said, "Ok."

He trimmed them.

I then heard him say, "He has my toenails. I really should be the one that trims them. I can't see anyone else trimming my toe nails, so I should trim them."

I burst out laughing because he's just now realizing that Isaak has his toe nails. Isaak's 4 year old.

I had to repost this video of little Isaak man that I found today:

It was taken back when it was ok for him to run around in the nude.

"I Don't Like Him Because He Cuts Onions!"

Isaak started saying a month or so ago, "I don't like Daddy when he cuts onions!" Odd I know. What two, three or four year old isn't odd sometimes? He actually seemed upset about the fact that Daddy cuts up onions.

I said to Isaak, "Mommy cuts onions to." I think most adults do in fact cut onions.

Every so often Isaak continues with, "I don't like Daddy when he cuts onions!"

Tonight when we went swimming I said, "Hey Isaak did you say 'Hi' to your coach?" He said, "Mommy that's not my coach! That's my teacher. I don't like him because he cuts onions!" Such an odd thing to say for a little boy! Sort of funny to.

For the record, Isaak likes his coach. He LOVED swimming lessons. He walked up to his coach the day before Valentines Day, tapped him on his leg and said in his tiny voice, "I hope you will have a good Valentines Day tomorrow!"

Haircut

Yesterday Isaak was sitting down for a snack or lunch. Daddy was in the living room. Daddy said that Isaak was really quiet. He asked Isaak, "How are things going?" Isaak was silent. Daddy walked into the kitchen and noticed Isaak was again being quiet.

In Isaak's glass of milk was a little bit of hair. He had decided to use my craft scissors on his hair. Daddy ran his fingers through Isaak's hair and a bigger tuff of hair fell off. The damage was done within his hair. It's not very noticeable. I'm thinking maybe we'll just leave his hair as is. It's pretty cold to buzz it short!

Mica's never cut his hair. He did take a brand new shirt and cut a big hole in it when he was in preschool one year.

New Haircut

Here's Isaak's new hair cut! He looks like Mica now. The photo is a little bury, but little man was on the move! Below is before and after shots.

Daddy zipped off Isaak's hair on Sunday night. We asked him many times over the weekend if he really wanted it cut. He kept saying, "I want my hair to be little. I want my hair to look like a baby's hair." Off his hair went! Mommy cried. Not really. It's just hair. Isaak was all smiles when he saw the hair falling to the ground, and was even more smiles when he saw himself in the mirror.

Last Night I Felt Like a Disappointment

Daddy took Mica out to play on the metal slides downtown and then to gallery openings.

I had date night with my Isaak man. I asked him what he wanted to do after giving him options? He wanted to go to the pet store to see puppies. Guess what? They didn't have puppies at this pet store! I didn't feel too bad because we did like looking at everything else.

Isaak liked watching mice play in a wheel.

This lizard was a better model then most pets.
I gave Isaak options of what/where to go eat. He said, "Home to eat split pea soup." at first. Then he quickly changed his mind to, "Mickerdonalds" McDonalds.

We ate and I asked Isaak if he wanted to go get his hair trimmed? He said, "Yes." He told me, "Mommy I won't be shy this time." ;) They got him right in. He looked uncomfortably shy the whole time! Then at the end when I asked him, "Do you like your haircut?" He said, "No." I thought he was still being shy. As we walked out he said, "I wanted my hair shorter!" :( Then I didn't know if he really wanted his hair short, or if a certain person that watched him this week made fun of his hair again? That's where the disappointment of a night comes in.

Well Daddy and I talked with him last night because we wanted to know if he wanted his hair short because that is what he wants, or if he was just made fun of too much about his long hair? He really wants his hair short. I wish I would have known this! So...we're cutting it all off for him. I want him to like his hair. It's not about what I want, or what any family member wants. I want Isaak to be comfortable with himself.

Today or tomorrow Isaak's getting his hairs cut short.

Cutting

With Mica we had a lot of problems with him being able to cut and write. His preschool teacher's, Daddy and I really thought there was something wrong with the muscles in his hand. Now Mica does both things just fine! In fact with drawing Mica is now ahead. Proves that time will tell. Kid's kind of learn at their own rate.

Isaak is now about to head into preschool. He wants to cut whenever I get out the scissors. I let him cut up newspaper. He on the other hand doesn't know his letter like Mica knew at age 2. They all learn so differently.
