I really like very old things, about as much as I like very new things.
I've only been to work in person 2 times. Once was to get my laptop, and the other time was because we were notified that our power was going to be shut off for the morning due to maintenance. This door was right by where I parked.
Would you say yay or nay to restoration? What do you like better, old or new?

Knock, Knock, Knock on the Door
We all fell asleep an hour earlier last night. It was a busy weekend. We did a lot of random stuff.
I woke up to Travis nudging me. He whispered, "Someone is knocking on our door!" Be quiet. I'm going to check it out."
We both felt out hearts jump out of our chests.
I waited in bed thinking, Maybe I should call 911. But nothing has happened. Maybe that's a bit too extreme.
Travis' cell phone rang. I called him in to answer it. It was our neighbor. Our neighbor said, "I'm sorry to wake you." Travis said, "Was that you knocking on our door?" Our neighbor said, "Yes." Travis said, "Oh my I didn't know whether or not to grab a knife, or shit my pants." Our neighbor said, "I wanted to let you know your Honda Pilot has a light on inside. I'm afraid if you let it go, the battery will be dead in the morning." Travis said, "Thanks for letting me know." He went to fix that problem. It was left on by a kid. There's a light on the handle to get out.
Travis got off the phone and said, "That just scared the crap out of me." I said, "Well it's good he called. That would have been stressful in the morning. I would have JUST called at this time of night." Not realizing what time it even was. That would have prevented the scare factor.
Travis said, "What time is it anyhow?" I said, "I thought it was 1:13 AM, but it's only 11:13 PM."
He fixed the light in the Pilot, and off to sleep we went.
Has something startled you in the middle of you sleeping?
Once I freaked out because our ice machine gets built up. As it melts, ice will hit the floor. I heard random noises in the kitchen. That made me alert! Travis wasn't home at the time.
I used to share a room with my sister in the basement. There were times where a small animal, or big bug would get stuck inside the window well. There was also a time where her friends knocked on the window for her to come hang out with them. Heart racing moments for sure. Especially after watching Unsolved Mysteries before bed.

What We Did on Saturday
On Saturday it was in the upper 70s and on Sunday in the low 40s. The cold front has hit Nebraska for sure.
On Saturday I took all our beds apart and washed everything. It took pretty much all day, with the errands we ran. I know it's time to do that when Isaak has kicked his covers all over the place. He's a wild sleeper. Maybe it has more to do with him wanting to hide in his covers.
Isaak loves to hide from us. He's a typical little boy. He hides in the same spots: Behind his bedroom door, in his covers, or behind the calk board. He gets really mad when Mica points out where he is. When I find him he says, "How did you know I was hiding here?" I sort of shrug my shoulders and say, "It was pretty hard to find you."
Off went their bedding to be washed. Under the covers, on the ground the boys hid.
I made a big breakfast on Saturday. French toast, almonds, fresh pomegranate and apple juice, and coffee for the adults. Pomegranates are fairly new to us. I've bought premade pomegranate juice, but only a handful of times have I actually juiced them. If you've never had them, don't eat the white stuff! I made that mistake the first time. YUCK! It won't kill you, but it isn't good - very bitter. You eat the red seeds. It's pretty fast to cut them in 1/2 and de-seed them in a bowl of water. They are good! Isaak begs for some of the seeds to eat on their own. The boys are pretty much pigs for breakfast on the weekends. Maybe it's because we eat later then the weekdays. Mica wanted 3 pieces of French toast. I had to stop him at 2 and give him another protein to eat.
Daddy mowed for the last time, which took awhile. We haven't bagged any of our leaves. Our backyard is big for a city yard. I processed leaves by putting them them in buckets of water and layed them down under a baby Dwarf Magnolia Tree. The other crunched up leaves went into a compost pile, which will be where our potatoes will be planted next year. Our compost pile is always on the move.
After the many dishes and mowing the leaves up, we went to pick out a new screen/glass door. Ours is all out of shape. We liked things about one door, but not something else. They didn't have what we wanted in stock. It was a pain trying to find what we wanted. In the end we got one from Home Depot. The best brand was an Anderson door (Daddy researched). We'll have to wait 7 to 10 days to get it, but that's better than the 5 week wait at the other place. To pay someone to put one on was much more expensive and the door they wanted to put in wasn't the best quality. We have the worst luck with people not shutting our door and the wind taking it. Cross your fingers that this one works out. Otherwises I think we should build walls around the doors.

Car Door
This morning Isaak jumped out of the car, walked away and said, "Mommy look at the pink in the sky!"
Meanwhile, I shut his car door.
He looked at me with raised eyebrows, a stern voice and said, "Mommy I need to do that!" He opens up the car door, just to shut it again. He then proceeded to walk up the steps and said, "THAT'S JUST NOT FAIR!"
I told him, "Well Isaak I'm sorry I shut your door. You did get to shut it though." I apologized because: A) Daddy says I don't apologize enough. B) Because I infringed on Isaak's independence.
Mornings after daylight savings time have been less than desirable. One morning we all woke up late and yesterday Isaak had to go number 2 right when it was time to leave. I know it's not his fault, but it certainly makes for a rocky start. We I was trying to defeat time!
Allergies kicked in extra early here. I feel a little like I have a walking hang over, with none of the joys of drinking the night before. If I had to choose one dwarf from Snow White to categorize myself as in the morning lately it would be Grumpy. I don't mean to be grumpy I swear.
This is what the pollen counts look like here:

Creativity
I have a guest post here that I wrote about Boosting Your Creativity. Please read it and comment if you have the time.
I'm going to post a few of Mica's drawing for my Wordless Wednesday this week. That boy is only 6 and can draw!
Isaak's into sounds this weekend. He still tries to 2 finger whistle. He's also been putting his hands over his ears and yelling. Mica and I asked him to, "Stop!" Isaak said, "It's not loud to me!" Then does it again. I felt like screaming myself by the time the day was over. Then when I typed this I felt like laughing. What he was doing is totally something I would have done when I was younger.
Isaak's just realized that strumming your finger along an air vent makes what he calls, "Muesic" meaning "Music." I remember doing that when I was younger. Aunt Angela and I used to quickly change in front of a vent that was putting out warm heat in the winter time. It was a race because we hated changing when it was cold outside.
I also liked to play with door stoppers. In particular the kind that has a tight spring (see below). We had one of those kinds in the bathroom. It made this funny sound when you tapped it. I'm sure if we had one of those Isaak would have found it amusing as well.

Off With His Door!
- Many moons ago Mica kept slamming his bedroom door shut. He was trying to keep his little brother and cousin out of his room. I can understand him wanting privacy, but we will not put up with Mica slamming his door. Not only that, but we were worried Mica would hurt Isaak.
- Sure enough it happened! A long time ago Mica slammed Isaak's fingers into the door. Isaak was crying. I went to pick him up, and Isaak's fingers were in Mica's door! Isaak's fingers were flattened like a pancake. I thought we might have to rush to the emergency room, but they seemed to pop back in place after 10 min. Then it took a long time for his fingernails to look normal. We had to let them grow out. Mica lost his door. Daddy took it off the hinges. Along with that, he lost his privacy. Mica had to put up with Isaak and cousin Elijah coming in his room.
- Mica got his bedroom door back on Christmas Eve. It was one of his presents from us. Then we knew he couldn't hear Santa come in through the fireplace.
- He was thankful. We talked to him about safety, and not slamming the door.
- The past few weeks Mica started to slam his door again. He was warned two days ago that he'd loose his door if he slammed it.
- Yesterday he slammed his door, and Daddy took it off the hinges again. Mica's bedroom door is now in our garage. Mica pleaded at the time for Daddy not to take it away. Now he seems ok with not having a door.
