Freezing Moo Shame

Disclaimer: This is not a paid review.

We have a new ice cream place in Omaha. It's called Freezing Moo. Maybe you have one too.

We decided to go there early August, for Travis' birthday.

They had a deal where if you liked them on FB, showed them, you could get one free ice cream. I was up with Isaak. Travis drove separate, and was back further with Mica. I got my one free ice cream, and paid for the other. I didn't leave a tip. It was an automatic one, on a pad I signed for. I'm sorry, but I like to try my drink or food before tipping, and I hate this new trend where places tell you how much you have to tip. Really I wish they'd just pay people more, so the tip is included in the service. How do I know if what I got is good, or not? I knew we wouldn't have a seat, or a table for them to clean up. Isaak piped up, "MOM you didn't leave a tip!" I got called out by my eleven year old! In my oh so quiet pissed off tone I was like, "Isaak shut up please!" There's my story of shame! I knew Travis was behind me, and would leave one. He did.

My bill rang up to be $10 something. For 1 ice cream! Travis' was $5 something. I think I didn't get the deal. Boom there's their tip.

We went through the line, and got our ice cream, stood outside and ate it.

Was it good: Yes, but I felt like I had a super rush of sugar, went home, and had an Asthma Attack. An inhaler stopped it. A great sign that I should lay off on the sugar.

What is a shameful story that you've had lately?

Random Tid Bits

  1. We have a new Education Director where I work.

So far I've made an ass out of myself twice:

    1. I swore I didn't get my syllabi back from him. I've had them done, since May. They were in my junk folder. Now with email from home I get junk all the time, so I know to check that folder. Here at work I never get junk, so I never check it.

    2. He came into the break room. I said, "Oh yay you are eating with us today!" He grabbed his lunch, and took it into his office to eat. Now I'm thinking - is he that busy, or does he not like us? I tend to over think things like that.

  2. I went to a showing of a movie here for Breastfeeding Week called, Milkyway. It talked a lot about how many conservatives think of breastfeeding as gross because boobs have been sexualized so much. Many liberals think of breastfeeding as demeaning to women because they then feel the need to stay home, and not work outside the house. Considering I'm in the middle of many areas I disagree with both ways of thinking. Milkyway was a great eye opening movie!

I breastfed Mica and Isaak for 2 1/2 years each. I was hard! Mica was born with a cyst under his tongue; making his tongue really skinny on one side. Had I not breastfed him his tongue may not have developed as much as it did. With Isaak, we weren't getting the right latch. I was sore! Both kids lost a lot of weight. Because I paid over $500 for a pump I was determined to make it work. Formula has high fructose corn syrup, and other bad things in it that isn't natural. I try my best not to judge people for formula feeding considering all the problems I had, but breast is best overall in my book. No other animal drinks naturally from another animal. I'm glad we stuck with it! Both boys went on to get some pretty major illnesses, so my antibodies went to them. I'm so lucky I had the support of my sister Terra, my Mom, the boy's Pediatrician, and the hospitals when the boy's were sick.
  3. My husband is a goof at times, and I love it. He used to be Mr. Serious. Are you more serious, or silly in nature?

  4. I saw this tar on the street. It looked like George Washington's brother, or something.

  5. We went out to ice cream. They make it there. This flavor was Baklava Coffee. It was good. What's your favorite ice cream flavor?

I really loved the sign they had up in their shop!

I Scream for Ice Cream

I took the boys out for ice cream. Do you ever look at their photos on the menu and think, "A single scoop in a dish would be fine, but damn that waffle cone looks wonderful!"?

I splurged. We never get ice cream.

We all got different flavors.

Isaak was telling me to stop being goofy.

Mica enjoyed himself so much that he spilled ice cream all down his new jacket that he loved so much - he refused to take it off. There was also puddles of brown below his seat. I made him wipe up the puddles with napkins.

I got a pecan flavor. cookies and cream, or anything chocolate with peanut butter are my favorites.

Ice Cream

Once upon a time my 7 year old nephew Elijah was slightly annoyed because people kept making comments about his brother Evan's hair (which is red), and never made any comments about his hair (which is blond).

I made an effort to comment about Elijah's hair whenever I saw him. I'm kind of weird... I said, "I just want to eat your hair! It reminds me of vanilla ice cream. No one can pass up vanilla! You're so lucky that you have so many flavors of ice cream hair in your family. You have Evan's strawberry, your vanilla, Emerson's chocolate, and Edison's vanilla strawberry swirl. We only have chocolate in our family."

How I referred to hair color being like ice cream flavors must have stuck. My nephews were talking about different ice cream flavors in comparison to hair color.

They call me "Aunt Lissy". One of them said, "Aunt Lissy's hair is Rocky Road Ice Cream." The other said, "The grey streaks are the marshmallows."

I don't have any problem with people coloring their hair. In fact I think it's fun with all the colors that are out there. Plain colors are natural looking, and fun in their own way to.

Those that color their hair do not have Rocky Road Ice Cream hair like me. I suppose blond highlights could be marshmallows to. I picked a Rocky Road Ice Cream with even more yummy chunks added. Ha

In all seriousness I'm just glad Elijah's happy with his hair color now. He's my vanilla boy.

When I was little I was envious of my older sister Angela's hair. Her hair is strawberry blond, so it's strawberry vanilla swirl ice cream.

I always wanted red headed children. It's a recessive gene. My Dad is a true red head. I know they are more sensitive to the sun, have thinner skin, and get more freckles. They are also more on the rare side, which makes them unique.

I am happy with my brown hair, brown eyed boys. Chocolate is wonderful!

What color of hair do you like?

Random Tid Bits

  1. I was a little disappointed once this week. I brought in ice cream to my students. I was going over a logo/packaging change for Gifford's Ice Cream.

    Source
We don't have Gifford's Ice Cream here, so I bought other crazy flavors (3 to be exact). It felt nice to do something like bring the student's ice cream for the AM lecture. It certainly wasn't for me. I didn't have any of it.
    Source
The students dove into the ice cream. In fact many had 2 servings. There were only 2 students that didn't eat any. Guess how many said, "Thank you."? Zero. Was I expecting a, "Thank you."? Not really. It's just that when you go out to do something nice - I bought everything with my own money - it's sad that no one said those magic words. There are 17 students in the class, and not 1 said anything. They just devoured it like a pack of wolves.

When I came back and mentioned my morning to a co-worker, she said that happened to her last year when she brought in Halloween candy. Are kind words, and gratitude slipping through the cracks of future generations? Thankfully my thoughts towards future generations was restored when my 2 sons thanked me for a serving them ice cream after dinner.

  2. We have a wedding coming up. They are registered at a honeymoon place. I can't help but to think that my money is going towards alcohol. They are big drinkers.  I guess if that's what they want, that's what they get. I just worry about one of them. My husband's family has alcoholism on his side.

  3. I have 1 student in my first year class that likes to debate with me during lecture. While I love future thinkers of America, it really throws me off track. Honestly I can not remember what I was even talking about after he chimes in. I was going over the difference between transparent, semi transparent, and opaque. He was trying to tell me that transparent was the same as opaque, which it's not. I told the students that the definition of transparent and semi-transparent can be convoluted, just like many art terms can be. Opaque is where you can't see through an object at all. That one can't be argued. In this class the difference of the terms are:

Transparent - You can see through it totally like glass, clear plastic wrap rolled out, or a bubble.:
    Source
Semi Transparent - You can see through it slightly. Such as a stain glass window, or
old school camera film rolled out.

    Source
Opaque - Where you can't see through the object at all. Not transmitting of light. Such as a brick, or a wood door.

  4. I went down a pant size. Woo hoo! Actually many of my pants weren't fitting at all. I had to go buy new ones. Now I'm buying smaller shirts. I used to buy XL, and actually got a size medium the other day.

  5. We're still on our track of watching classics. The boys recently watched The Absent Minded Professor otherwise known as Flubber. We have Old Yeller, and Bednobs and Broomsticks ready to watch. Freaky Friday is still on hold at the library. The boys seem to be enjoying them. Daddy rolled his eyes with The Shaggy Dog and The Absent Minded Professor though. I have to admit they are odd.  I like the memory trip though.

Customer or Custard?

We've had an electrician at our house for a few days. We're getting our fuse box switched over to circuit breakers. We had to do this for a new insurance policy we have. Plus we've been wanting this done for safety reasons for awhile. We had a few problems with things not being {code} worthy. Our box was too far from the outside wall, a few wires were too thin, our outside plug in box was loose and our plug-ins in the kitchen weren't up to code. What can I say? We have an old house. I am glad we've gotten this work done. I feel safer! Some work he did for free because our electrician didn't see this, or that when he gave us our bid. A new light in the laundry room was one of the things! I can see much better now!

What about you? Have you had an electrician come out before? It's expensive, but not as much as I thought. To me it's worth it. Electricians have one heck of a job to do. Their lives are at risk. They have to know what they are doing!

With no power and my husband having to be at home off and on to be with the electrician, meals have been challenging this week.

Daddy took the boys out once for lunch because the power was out for a few hours.

Then we went out to dinner one other time.

The boys got a free custard with their meal instead of a toy. What's the difference between custard and ice cream anyway? I honestly do not know. They were so happy because custard and ice cream is not a treat we give them on a regular basis.

Mica's manners were not what they should be. If he didn't turn them around his free custard would not have been give to him.  I said, "Why are you being like this?" Mica said, "Because you told me to be like this when you were pregnant with me." I shook my head and said, "WHAT?" He said, "When you were pregnant with me you told me to have bad manners. I remember things really well Mom! Really!" Daddy and I both started laughing and I said, "I did not tell you that. Even if I did you would not remember anything from when I was pregnant with you. He smiled. Then he shaped up. He even used the words, "Please" and "Thank you" a few times.

When Isaak got his custard he kept saying, "This customer is sooooo good!" He said it a few times. Daddy looked at me, Mica looked at me and we all started cracking up. Isaak looked at all of us and innocently said, "What?" He really didn't know the difference between the words, "Custard" and "Customer". We're raising a cannibal for a son. He eats customers instead of custard.

Play Ice Cream Shop

New Age Mama is hosting a cool giveaway from Learning Resources. It's a Pretend and Play Ice Cream Shop! I like the apron!

Isaak tells us knock knock jokes, and each one includes an ice cream cone in there somewhere. He thinks he's hilarious.
