Random Tid Bits

  1. For a few weeks now I've been battling it out with computer problems. I think I have it fixed, nope, think again. It keeps fanning up like crazy when I'm on the internet! Under Activity Monitor it kept saying that my Mac was using over 100% CPU for Google Chrome Helper. I removed some things off that looks suspicious, it still fanned up once again! I read up on computer issues with Macs. I've had this one for quite some time. It's been virus free up until this point. I read up, and watched videos on how to fix my Mac. Finally a coworker convinced me to download Malwarebytes. I was incredibly nervous to download anything when something from the internet was clearly my issue. Like what if I downloaded a fake version of Malwarebytes, and then it would be worse off than it already was? That was my thinking. Malwarebytes detected 15 problems, and removed them! After that it continued to fan up. I did a system update, backed up my stuff again.

  2. Now my boss can't see my back up on other macs. The battery life says, "Condition Replace Soon". That isn't good. So I need a new battery.

  3. Isaak starts a camp next week! It's an upcycled | Invention camp. I think he'll love it!

  4. Our family is into watching a show called Under the Dome.  It's based off a Stephen King novel, and directed by Spielberg. It's not scary, just odd. Have you seen it? It's on Amazon Prime.

  5. Do you have sisters, brothers, or are/were you a single child? I have sisters, and there seems to be drama at many turns. I wouldn't say I'm a dramatic person, but I am like Isaak where I want things to be right. I don't like to leave people out, make people feel bad and so on.

  6. Do you have any big plans for the weekend? I think Isaak and I need to work on a craft. The boy will go to decorate cupcakes at a library, and Mica started volunteering for a few hours on Sunday at the library.

Now That's a Load Off!

A few weeks ago my laptop, which is work's laptop started messing up. All the lights in all my pictures, in every program were pixelated.

Kind of like this:

But...it was only the lights.
I knew it was my computer, and not showing up elsewhere. Images on my camera were fine, and when I plugged in my laptop to present things the images were fine on the big screen.

I wanted to wait until midterm break for them to fix it.

Monday happened. My screen was fine.

It was fine up until yesterday. Things were pixelated again!

It's certainly weird to look at pictures, and not know if what you are seeing is crap, or not.

I've been wanting to update my blog, but that was kind of hard to do when I can't see things the right way.

I told my boss about it. He said, "Research it."

Ok...I did that already. All I could find was cracked screens, water damaged screens, screens that went black...nothing on my problem.

Right after boss man told me to, "Research it." he told me to go in the first year classroom to clean it. Ya our students in first year are slobs this year! I had them clean before they left, but their idea of cleaning isn't the same as my idea of cleaning. We have an Open House coming up.

I was talking to some other teachers about my screen. I showed them the problem. One noticed when the programs were closed the problem went away. PowerPoint somehow was the problem. When I plug into the projector that messes with the settings, so I'm assuming that's how it got messed up. The teacher fixed it...for now.

I'm happy. I feel as if I can do things now. Before I was waiting for things to look better before I did things. The laptop can stay with me. I don't have to say, "Goodbye" to it to have it sent off to the Apple Store. YAY!

Tests, Tests and More Tests

I used to grade exams singularly. Now I try and get as many as I can on a big table and grade a whole bunch at once. I really can't wait until this week is over with! I have to start all over again with grading tomorrow. This is only 1/2 of them.

Plus I had to grade speeches, notecards and artwork. I know that grading with a red pen is supposed to be bad now a days. I heard that it sends negative signals to students. My students don't get their tests back, so they don't see the red pen that stands out like a sore thumb.

Next semester I'll be able to test over the local network via MacBook Pros. Thank you Steve Jobs!!! We love Macs in the graphic field! You will be missed!

Apple and McDonalds were the first logos Mica and Isaak could point out. Cousin Evan used to sit in his pack n' play, point at my computer and say, "Apple." Daddy thought Evan wanted an apple to eat. It took a few times of him repeating, "Apple" and pointing before he finally got it. Time sure does fly! Evan is now 6!

I love this graphic! It was designed by Jonathan Mack and found here.
