WW: Bow Ties {Linky}

I made the boys bow ties out of an old shirt compliments from Daddy.

Mica's been wanting a bow tie for a few years now. Daddy thinks they are silly looking. Oh well.

I don't know what's sillier the boys or their bow ties? Here's Mica supporting his new bow tie:

Here's Zeek AKA Issak supporting his new bow tie:

Want to know how to make them? I have a tutorial in the post below.

Nebaska = New Balanace

I was taking a shower this morning and Mica comes walking in. YA no privacy!

He said, "Hey Mom look! I tied my shoes!" I peer out the crack of the shower door and said, "WOW Mica that is cool! Go tell Daddy!" I was thinking that he's pretty funny because last night when we told him to practice tying his shoes, he wanted nothing to do with it. Maybe he only wants something to do with it on his terms.

Mica couldn't even get Daddy to open his eyes for like 5 minutes. Finally he did. Mica said, "Look Daddy I tied my Nebraska shoes!" New Balance, Nebraska; It's all cool that our 6 year old got their branding wrong! ;)

By the way these photo's were not taken while I was in the shower. ;) I took Mica outside after I was dressed!

He Did it!

Mica tied his first shoe tonight! He's been pretty stubborn about wanting to learn this. Daddy worked with him, and BAM he got it. Now it's practice, practice, practice.

Is it just me, or is the coordination stuff the hardest to teach kids up to this point in childhood? Buttons, getting themselves dressed, riding a bike and tying shoes were all hard!

I Need Motherly Advice From a Mother or a Father

My oldest is going to be 6 on Wednesday. He is not a picky boy with food. We've done our best to give him a variety of things to eat throughout his life. All the sudden, during this past summer he's become picky with clothes! I've never heard of a 6 year old boy being so picky! My husband's co-worker's 6 year old son is the same way. That made me feel a little better.

So what does Mica want to look like EVERY day:

He wants to wear a button down shirt, he prefers a tie. Why? Because he says, "I want to look handsome Mommy!" Many days I say, "No! You have to wear a t-shirt because it's a play day. You are handsome in t-shirts Mica!" He almost refuses to get dressed.

Am I cramping his style? Should I buy him more button down shirts because that's what he likes?
or
Is this one of those picky food type things? Where he needs to just wear what's in his closest because Mommy says so. I bought all the fun t-shirts. Should he be forced to wear them? Kind of like eating the food that's on their plate.

This is what we're dealing with at home right now. I honestly don't know what direction I should take. I never thought I'd have this problem with a 6 year old boy.

Go Graham Go is hosting a giveaway for one winner to win a $100 gift certificate to Tea Collection.  I'm hoping to win because good boy clothes are so hard to find. Most have sports splashed all over them. Our boys are not into sports yet.

I know Mica would wear this and call himself "Handsome!":

Some of You Were Asking About Isaak's Tie

  • I won Isaak's tie off of Mom4Life
  • It's super cool because it's reversible!
  • It's only $9.25 and they have free shipping all the time in the US.
  • The tie has a band that goes around Isaak's head really easily. He didn't complain about it, nor did he want to take it off.
  • It's also handmade.
  • There are only a few patterns to pick from. I knew right away that I wanted the green one.

Mica Dressed Up

Father and Son

Dinner

  • We went out to dinner for Mommy's birthday on the 21st.
  • Mica tried on his shirt that he's wearing for Daddy's show in a few weeks.
  • He wanted to wear it. He said that he wants to wear it tomorrow too. I told him, "No, you'll be outside playing tomorrow and it will get hot and messy."
  • Mica does look nice!
  • Isaak saw that Mica was standing by the tree to get his photo taken.
  • I went to go put Isaak in the car. He started whimpering and pointed at the tree.
  • He wanted his picture taken too.
