Crushing

When I first went to the Allergy Asthma Clinic I wasn't sure what my doctor would be like.

Meet Doctor Ebrahim Shakir
Source
Travis and the boys went with to my first appointment. Travis laughed when Doctor Shakir stepped out of the room and I said, "He's cute!"

We're just comfortable in our relationship to know that there are other good looking people out there.

Fast forward to last week...

Travis went to get his hair cut. He said, "Do you ever find certain people so good looking it's hard to talk to them?"

I said, "Ya it's funny when that happens."

He said, "There was this 20 something girl who cut my hair. She was hot. I felt so silly because she was 20 something. I had trouble getting my words out. It's not like I liked her. It's just that she was good looking." I giggled. Then he said, "I wanted to ask for an old school hair cut - rockabilly style." Apparently that's a thing."

Rockabilly Hair Style Example:

He went on to say, "Instead of rockabilly coming out of my mouth I said, 'I'd like a redneck style haircut."

OMG I was rolling on the floor laughing. I'm still laughing typing this.

I asked, "What did she say?" He said, "She just smirked. I think she was trying not to laugh."

I'm not sure he totally got the haircut he wanted. It sort of looked similar to the example above. It certainly looks more rockabilly, than it does redneck. More giggles!

I said, "Well don't be too embarrassed. You'll more than likely never see her again. I have to see my doctor whenever I go in. The last time he looked at my necklace and said, 'That's really cool!' I was just like, 'Thank you!'" Blush!

Sitting in the Allergy Asthma Clinic waiting the 30 minutes after my 3 injections. This is the necklace I was referring too:

I went on to say, "He holds my hands, says he's going to take care of me, and that I'm a special patient. He wants medical student's to see my case to study me." Even though medical student seeing me would be creepy according to some people I just was like, "Bring them in. I have a ton of family members in the medical field. I understand they need to learn." Blush! I know he's only saying that I'm only a special case to him only because I have allergies, asthma, I'm allergic to Aspirin, I have a really bad deviated septum, and really bad polyps. But a girl can think she's special for other reasons. Ha! Only being silly. I love my husband.

Then I said, "When we're all done Doctor Shakir said, 'I have to rely on you to take your meds. You've done so well with them. I don't want you to get worse again. I want to get you better. Then with further aggressive treatment I'll do my best to get you off all this!'" I was thinking, I'll do whatever you want Doctor. Even if it costs me a fortune!

Then it was Travis' turn to laugh at me.

I think this is one of those stories that's way more funny told in person. I told the ladies at work, and we were laughing so hard.

Have you ever have a crush on someone whether it be a doctor, a teacher, an actor, or anyone else?

Here's a Flower for Your Embarrassment

Do you remember how I told you that Mica has a girl that likes him? This has been on going for awhile now.

Mica's in 4th grade. He's an older 4th grader. He has an August birthday. The girl that likes him is in 6th grade.

It started out where she invited him to eat with the 6th graders.

He thought it was weird because when Mica was in 2nd grade he remembers this same girl getting suspended from school because she stole money from a classroom. Mica's a kid that abides by rules. He doesn't like people that are trouble makers. He also has a great memory.

The girl seemed to find Mica a lot during recess time. Mica wasn't rude, he talked to her, but then ran away.

She gave Mica little plastic toys. Mica gave them to Isaak.

Mica said, "I just can't wait for the school year to end. She's going to another school. She's a little over the top Mom."

I never said anything because he is right it is close to the end of the year. She is going to a new school. He also didn't want me to say anything.

She asked Mica to help her with the Talent Show, and Science Fair. Mica declined. Remember Mica likes people that do not break the rules.

Early last week the girl gave Mica pictures of kittens. Mica passed them off to other kids in his class that wanted them.

At the end of last week the girl gave a flower to Mica's teacher to give to Mica. Mica was all embarrassed about that! He said, "Mom I had to walk up to get the flower. My teacher had a big smile on her face. I put it in my desk. One of my friends wanted it to give to his mom for Mother's Day, so I gave it to him. She just doesn't get that I don't like her. She's way over the top!"

My best advice to him was, "Mica some girls like boys that are hard to get. Just tell her that you don't want these things she's giving to you. Be happy that someone likes you, and glad that she's going to a different school next year." I think I may be contacting the teacher just to make sure she's aware of this situation.

Crush

A 6th grade girl has a crush on Mica, who is in 4th grade.

He came home one day and said, "Mom something strange happened at school today."

I asked, "What was it?"

He said, "A 6th grader invited me over to eat lunch."

I said, "Did you go?"

He said, "Ya...but it was odd because I remember when I was in 2nd grade she stole money out of my teacher's jar."

I said, "Ya that is odd."

A few days later Mica told me this same girl has been giving him small toys.

I said, "Let me see them. Did you ask her where she got them?"

He said, "She didn't steal them Mom. At least she said she didn't. I think her giving me toys is a little much! I'm really glad she's going to middle school next year. People are starting to say things."

I asked, "What do you say when people say things about her liking you?"

He said, "I just ignore them. I run off and play. Usually it's during recess."

It sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders.

I was going to say something to his teacher when I was up there to read to the class on April Fool's Day. Things were hectic. I'll say something if it gets out of hand.

Do you remember your first crush? I liked this kid Matt that had heart problems. He was so little. I felt bad for him because he had to stay in for recess. I talked to him a lot because we were in a special help group for kids that struggled with academics. I would have never had the guts to tell him I liked him, nor would I give him small toys.

Random Tid Bits

  1. A crazy lady wondered what it would be like to pet a tiger. She broke into our zoo not during hours of operation. I don't know how she did this. They have security guards there around the clock. She got to the tiger cage, climbed a fence to touch the wild cat. It bit her hand very badly. She'll have to get a few surgeries on her hand. She got out of the zoo. A friend took her to the hospital. She was was intoxicated, or drugged up with something. The moral of the story is...don't stick your hand in a wild animal cage!

  2. Somebody put the message below on the News' Facebook page. I was cracking up.

  3. I've been brainstorming about what to give the kid's teachers this year for holiday gifts. Last year I gave out June Berry Jam, pencils with their names on them, and hot coco packets. I still have jam. This is Isaak's teachers last year. I don't think pencils with her name on them is fitting if she's not going to be teaching any more after this year. What have you given as a gift to teachers in the past? Should I just give jam and a gift card to some place?

  4. My youngest nephew Edison is such a Momma's boy. My sister out of desperation messaged me, "Edison will not lay down for a nap. I'm so sick I need a nap so bad. Emerson needs attention to. What do I do?" I said, "Lay him down. Tell him you love him, and that it's time to go to sleep. Then leave for 15 minutes. Go back in, don't look at him, just lay him back down, and leave. Keep doing that. As long as he's not hungry, or tired he should be fine." It's funny how you can be a parent, and all your kids are different.

  5. The girl that Mica's liked for 1 1/2 school years he no longer has a crush on. I think his reasoning is so funny. Mica likes people based on how hard they try in school. I've never known someone his age to be like that. I'm going to call her S. S showed up to the Lemur Study Group, and didn't participate in studying at all. She drew pictures, while everyone else studied. When they had the quiz at the zoo she had a book in her hands at all times. Really the teachers should have taken the book away. Mica also doesn't care for people that do not follow the rules. S showed up to school with a cell phone, and didn't put it in the teacher's basket. Instead she took it outside for recess to snap photos. Mica was not impressed. That's the end of that.

  6. I had an odd thing happen yesterday when I went to the store. I got there, and someone was looking at me off and on. She kept walking around, but didn't put anything in her basket. Finally she came up to me to say, "I have a question to ask you. Is your name Renee?" Most normally that wouldn't be so odd. I mean we run into people that look like other people all the time. Renee is my Mom's Cousin that just died. The same person whom we went to clear out her apartment. It just threw me. I politely said, "Nope I'm not Renee." She said, "I haven't seen her in years, and you look just like her." I said, "That's ok. Have a great day."

Girls, Girls, Girls

The title of this post made me think of the Mötley Crüe song, Girls, Girls, Girls.

Last week I asked Mica, "So who have you been playing with at school during recess time?" It's my way of asking how his day was without asking, How was your day? over and over like a broken record.

He said, "Well...actually I've been walking around with Sally." *Her name is not really Sally, but I'm calling her that for this post.

I said, "Mica you do know you're too young for a girlfriend."

He said, "I know, but I'm not too young for a crush."

This girl made the Student Council with him. -Sigh

We went to Target. I was looking for the toothpaste I wanted. Mica said, "Mom Sally and I have the same deodorant. Here it is."

I'm thinking, How does this kid know what kind of deodorant Sally wears? Oh ya they keep them in their lockers to put on before gym class.

I said, "Mica maybe you should start hanging out with your boy friends more, and walk around the playground with Sally less. She may think you're creepy because you walk around with her a lot. Plus you don't want to loose the friends you have because all your attention is going towards Sally."

Mica said, "Sally likes me to."

I said, "Your guy friends won't understand that."

In the car Mica said, "The girls at the school think I'm the cutest boy in the class."

I said, "Really! Don't let that get to your head Mica. There's plenty of good looking kids in your class."

Mica said, "I'm number 1 on Sally's list."

I said, "Things like that change. Character is not always about how you look. It's about how you act to."

He said, "I act fine Mom."

Oh my goodness we're in trouble. This boy is only in 4th grade! He could be in 5th grade age wise, but he's in 4th grade! How in the heck do I take this down a notch, or 5 notches? This kid doesn't need more confidence. He has plenty. I don't want him to be that guy like in Beauty and the Beast - Gaston. BTW I can't believe I'm referencing Disney. That's the first character that came to mind.

Disney's Beauty and the Beast

Except Mica would love if a girl read, and came up with ideas.

My goodness he's too young for girls! I guess I had a crush in 4th grade, but I never told anyone about it. Mica's told me, his friends, Grandma and Grandpa, and even the girl he likes.

I remember my mom saying, "Some things I just don't want to know." I think I know what she meant now.

Random Tid Bits

  1. Daddy hates bow ties. He thinks they are lame, and pictures Tucker Carlson when it comes to bow ties. I think of artsy people like Johnny Depp, and other actors. I recently watched the Beatles tribute, and Sean Lennon had a bow tie on. He looked slick, and artsy.

  2. Do you like bow ties? Am I alone in liking them?

  3. We had our garbage disposal break a few times. Now we use a strainer bought at Ace Hardware. For a buck, this thing works so good! We've been using it for 2 or 3 years now. It collects so much stuff. I just pitch the food it collects into our compost pile. A high pressure hose cleans it out well!

  5. Mica doesn't know I know that he "loves" Melissa Gilbert; when she was his age on Little House on the Prairie. I left my knowledge of that quiet. He said to me one morning this week, "Mom I just can't stop dreaming about Melissa Gilbert on Little House on the Prairie." I said, "Oh really." Then giggled to myself.

Who was your first actor/singer crush? To be honest I don't even remember my first one. I liked Ralph Matcchio in Karate Kid. Now he's odd looking to me. I liked Kurt Cameron on Growing Pains. He's just strange to me now.

  6. I asked Isaak if he likes snakes? He said, "They creep me out Mom!" I've always liked them. They have such interesting patterns on them. It's so cool that they can move around without legs, wings, or fins. I never been a furry animal lover because I can't be. They close up my lungs. They are cute on screen. I guess I'm sort of the same way with snakes. I'm not sure I'd want to have one as a pet because of what they eat, and some are super poisonous. They are certainly pretty!

  7. I've never been able to whistle, yet I won a whistling contest once. We had to eat a ton of crackers at camp, and whoever whistled first won the contest. I let out a little 1/2 assed whistle, and won. I can't carry a tune what so ever with whistling. I can with singing though.

Kisses

The little girl that has kissed Mica twice told him last week that she loved him and that he looks like Justin Bieber. I was thinking, "NO!"

Justin Bieber
Image found here.
The first time she kissed him, he bent her fingers back. I told him never to do that. He should always just tell the teacher when someone does something that makes him feel uncomfortable happens! The second time, he just told the teacher.

Mica's teacher does not approve of kissing! It was a problem she had towards the beginning of the year. She tells her Kindergartener's that they can't date until they are 20.

What is it that kids and teens like about Justin Bieber? I don't think he's all that, but I'm not their age. I see little girls wearing t-shirts with his picture on it. If I had a little girl I wouldn't encourage that. If they were a teen, that's a little different.

Who was your Hollywood crush when you were younger? I liked River Phoenix. It's too bad he died young - drug overdose. I thought Tom Cruise was hot in Top Gun. Now I think he's a little wacky.
